Only the best thread in S & B to talk all things Autumn.

Found it! looks like navy on the website but it's dark teal.

sotiredfornow · 08/02/2014 09:21

Oh that is different isn't it. Nice to see a print other than floral. Would like to see it in person.

Hopefully · 08/02/2014 12:55

I am saving up for a new Chan Luu scarf (cheaper from eBay US). It's a gorgeous lightweight cashmere/silk mix so nice and warm without too much bulk, and big enough for my Dramatic requirements.

Snowdown · 08/02/2014 15:30

The hobbs scarf is more petrol than teal - sorry!

Which scarf are you saving for hopefully? They look lovely.

Hopefully · 08/02/2014 15:43

Can't decide Snow! I am tempted by a light colour for summer like cinder (not perfect, but close enough I reckon) or sand dollar, but I also know that a dark colour will look better on me, so maybe www.chanluu.com/scarves/chocolate-cashmere-and-silk-scarf/. I also keep looking back at this one which isn't really big enough for my tastes but I LOVE the tassels.

Snowdown · 08/02/2014 15:57

I like the scarf with tassels it appeals to my dramatic nature. Is it cream or grey though? Have you seen it in the flesh?

missmagnum · 10/02/2014 13:31

Sorry if its already been mentioned, but I bought a really nice lipstick today that I thought you may be interested in - Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti, its a nice sheer orange. Also got some nice brown nail varnish Maybelline Gel in Taupe Couture. Heard good things about both products on S&B.

bottersnike · 10/02/2014 13:58

Just found this thread, and now have a very long wish list - thank you! :)
I'm an autumn with mid brown hair and blue eyes. I have plenty of teal and orange tops, but have been struggling to find skirts and trousers, particularly jeans. Any suggestions for decent jeans in autumn colours, but NOT skinny jeans?

mrspolkadotty · 10/02/2014 14:09

Good question bottersnike, i'm also at a loss with jeans, although i am after skinny ones.

Hopefully Any suggestions?

Snowdown · 10/02/2014 15:08

Zara has coated skinnies. Hobbs have some teal trousers in their new season stuff.

Hopefully · 10/02/2014 15:26

My trouser options tend to be:

  • coloured skinnies (I'm going off these slightly, but the darker colour ones will probably see some use this year). I appreciate you said not skinnies!
  • petrol colour leather leggings (Drome, from Matches)
  • tartan leggings (topshop)
  • leggings (kettlewell)
  • off white jeans in summer (topshop)
jennimoo · 10/02/2014 15:49

Debenhams have some brown jeans. Can't remember exactly what style they were though.

Homelander · 10/02/2014 21:21

I have just had my colours done and I am a Leaf Autumn. So pleased to find this thread as I am really at a loss where to start - I have ONE thing in my entire wardrobe that is the right colour, though did buy a gorgeous browny/amber scarf at the weekend (so make it two things!).

To complicate matters I am also 16 weeks pregnant, so need to get some maternity wear soon, as everything is starting to feel a bit tight....

I haven't read the whole thread, but my skim of the earlier pages points to H&M and I guess ebay for maternity stuff? Any other recommendations gratefully received.

ocelot41 · 11/02/2014 09:41

My most recent buy is this ultra versatile bricky red shift dress from Monsoon
uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.2/5531660922
This DD-Atelier colourblock dress in beige, aubergine and khaki
dd-atelier.com/Panel-Dress-in-Colourblock.html

Best lippies are Color Me Beautiful Rum and Sheer Copper, but I also like L'Oreal Honey Brown (121).

I'm also planning a trip to Ronen Chen soon to check out his SS14 range - the cream, coffee and salmon stuff not the navy and white
www.ronenchenstoreuk.com/new-arrivals-89-c.asp

But I think a lot of it may be too 'floppy' for me - I have big norks and a little waist so need some structure.

What I am really stuck on though is how to find a cropped blazer (i.e. about hip) in Soft Autumn colours - they all seem to be black, navy or charcoal (which is a bit borderline for me). Where oh where can I find this light navy of which my swatchbook speaks? Or chocolate? Or moss? Or khaki? Or teal? Or sea green? Or salmon? Or ANYTHING but navy and black???? Suggestions folks?

ocelot41 · 11/02/2014 09:43

Sorry that should read above hip - not about hip....

Hopefully · 11/02/2014 10:09

Homelander congrats on your diagnosis! I am a consultant, an Autumn (I'm a Blue Autumn) and v v pregnant, so I'm with you on the maternity wear. Most places want you in black or navy top to toe! I bought a couple of bits from Isabella Oliver, Next (of all places - would never look in there normally), H&M and Kettlewell for long cardigans. I have had to admit the odd bit of dark grey into my wardrobe - better on me than navy, and you'll find you need to compromise somewhere for a maternity wardrobe.

Ocelot you might find you're able to find one as summer ranges start to come in - I always find it hard to get away from khaki/coral/beige in the summer months, so there's bound to be something that's right for you eventually! Love that DD atelier dress, I should probably avoid buying dresses as will need BFing access for the foreseeable, but it's very nice.

ocelot41 · 11/02/2014 10:49

Thanks for the Kettlewell tip folks. LOADS of stuff I like on there and have never come across them before...

Hopefully · 11/02/2014 10:58

They are a lovely company Ocelot, I work quite closely with the owners. Seriously committed to their customers, and lovely quality clothes. Great place for basics.

ocelot41 · 11/02/2014 13:46

Brilliant Hopefully! I really need to ditch the jeans (am a bit pear and they don't do me any favours) and have struggled to know how to 'do' casual for soft autumn, without it looking just awfully boring, so this is perfect!

Aquelven · 11/02/2014 19:26

Please excuse me for butting into your thread.
I've been trying to track down Hopefully & the other HoC consultant, is it Travelling? To ask if either of you could please come over to our Spring thread?
One of us recently went for a re rate with HoC & has now been told that she isn't a Spring at all but now a Winter. As you can imagine she's finding it very difficult to get her head round this, especially having reSprung her wardrobe!
We're finding this pretty gobsmacking to be honest. Would you be willing to come & read our last posts, to get an idea of how things are, & give her ( & us) some guidance please?

Hopefully · 12/02/2014 06:59

Aque I've been over to the Spring thread Smile.

I am eyeing up a selection of leopard print sneakers for post natal loungewear, and I think I'm going to get a pair of gold Ash Jalouse too. If I'm being totally honest they're a bit of a Spring gold (very clear and light), but they are, after all, only on my feet. I reckon the colour police will cope Wink.

sotiredfornow · 12/02/2014 12:36

Has anyone bought a jacket/coat/blazer in autumn colours lately?

I've just had to return the coat I've been wearing as the colour ran first time I washed it. And now I'm cold!!! I don't necessarily need a big, warm winter coat. I was thinking of getting something that works for autumn/spring.

Hopefully · 12/02/2014 12:59

No, although I was seriously tempted by this. I am mostly wallowing in my maternity coat and feeling frumpy when I go out.

schmalex · 12/02/2014 13:07

How far along are you, Hopefully? I am an autumn whale at the moment! 33 weeks but measuring 38...

I'm doing quite well today, wearing some olive non-mat skinny trousers from Uniqlo (under bump) and a long teal top from JoJo Maman Bebe (described as Jade, but isn't).

Really looking forward to the baby arriving and losing some weight so I can go on a style day and then a shopping spree!

Hopefully · 12/02/2014 13:22

More or less the same Schmalex - a few days off 33 weeks. good find with the JoJo top, they are normally the home of boring navy and white.
