Whitecat I'd like to know about the Aubergine colour too, I went for the forest maxi but if they drop the price would love the tailored BodyCon.

Find it really hard to find these colours later in the year so tend to shop now justifies blowing 2014 clothes budget in first two weeks

ToffeeWhirl · 08/01/2014 14:19

Both of those look gorgeous, Autumn Envy.

jennimoo · 08/01/2014 20:26

Autumn that scarf is lovely!

toffee - have you risked washing the green dress? Still haven't decided whether to keep it, must try it on again.

I have a wedding to go to in April and will probably still be breastfeeding. I'm hoping to do the style day beforehand with enough time to buy an appropriate dress but I think it'll be a challenge!

ToffeeWhirl · 08/01/2014 20:59

No, I haven't washed it yet, jennimoo. Am scared of damaging it. Don't want to spend the money on dry cleaning though. Am still very happy with it and have had a lot of compliments when wearing it. It seems to emphasise the positives and skim over the negatives Smile.

How lovely to have a wedding to go to after doing the style day. You can make use of all the things you've learned - and have an excuse for a spending spree.

Whitecat · 08/01/2014 21:24

Autumn the coat in both colours is gorgeous.

charitygirl · 08/01/2014 21:53

Lovely coat from Toast! I love their colours and fabrics, but the shapes are hardly ever right for me. Right, I must show you some of my recent purchases. First up this dress but not in this orange (also fab) but in red. if geranium is a ** star colour for you, this is worth checking your localshop for - it is an exact match for the HoC geranium lippy). It's very flattering, though I'd recommend sizing down:

This skirt - I love gold and tube skirts so this was a bargain - looks great with teal, brown, red.

This t shirt - I love the stars

And these jeans (see the reduction! Have wanted them since Sept so v pleased to have got them at that price)

BTW - I think the Me-& Em Aubergine looks fine. Darkness isn't the problem for autumns really, it's really about bright/muted and cool/warm. Me&em's 'forest' is too cool IMO, but the Aubergine looks warmer.

charitygirl · 08/01/2014 21:54

Oh god, I'm sorry - failed to make links live and can't cut and paste that text on iPad :(

ToffeeWhirl · 09/01/2014 01:26

Have re-done your links for you, charity Smile:

Dress

Skirt

T-shirt

Jeans

Particularly like those jeans...

ToffeeWhirl · 09/01/2014 01:28

And am drooling over the gold sparkly skirt, which I fear I'm too old for Sad. It's gorgeous, though.

jennimoo · 09/01/2014 06:34

Phew, that gold skirt is totally the wrong length for my legs, otherwise I don't think I could have resisted!

Some lovely things there!

And I worried it will be worse if I do the style day then have to quickly find a dress / outfit for this wedding! It's hard enough shopping now avoiding the wrong colours but wanting a particular shape in a particular colour would be hard! I think I will definitely have to work on my sewing skills in future so I could hopefully make a few things!

Snowdown · 09/01/2014 06:53

Might be easier than you think Jenni. I looked at Charity's lovely bag of good but knew that none of them would suit me. For eg - orangey red dress is so lovely but the neckline is all wrong for me - I am an hourglass and need a lower neck or my boobs will look enormous and I need it fitted or I'll look fat and if I had those things then the dress would be too formal for my style, so even without the style day I know that dress as much as I like it would not be a good fit for me and I'd waste my time ordering it. I think knowing what suits you can save a lot of time.

I bought a fabulous lipstick yesterday, Max Factor Lipfinity - more like a lip stain you apply it in the morning and then just gloss over with a lip balm and it doesn't budge...no lipstick on your mugs and no reapplying - maybe the lip balm but that's it. I got Spicey - it's a browny orangey coral shade, great for everyday. Maybelline make a similar lipstick but their colours aren't great at the moment.

Managed to stick to my spending ban since October, so I've saved up a nice little wad for the season ahead! Apart from some cashmere and thermals from uniqlo and a t shirt from French Connection - I won't link them because they are navy, proper navy - what can I say, I'm a rebel!

ToffeeWhirl · 09/01/2014 09:43

That lipstick looks good, Snow, but I can't see one called Spicy. Is it the one called Gleaming Coral that you mean? Might add it to my extensive wish list.

jenni - I agree with Snow that the style day will more likely help you with your choice of outfit. Your consultant might even be able to send you some good links. Mine found the green dress we're all buying.

Snowdown · 09/01/2014 11:43

Toffee it's this one www.amazon.co.uk/Max-Factor-Lipfinity-Lipstick-Spicy/dp/B00005OM26

ToffeeWhirl · 09/01/2014 12:17

Thanks, Snow.

Seri77 · 12/01/2014 10:44

I've just bought the maternity version of the Baukjen obi belt in mustard as it's half price. I've been hankering after one for ages but no way at full price. The maternity version looks thinner which is better for I think as I'm short.

ToffeeWhirl · 12/01/2014 10:48

This one, Seri? Great colour for an Autumn.

ToffeeWhirl · 12/01/2014 15:38

Anyone need tights in Autumn colours? I just ordered some bargain opaque tights online from M&S here. I chose one pair of chestnut and one of green (am hoping they both go with the green wrap dress).

Seri77 · 12/01/2014 19:34

That's the one Toffee. I have no belts currently and as I'm a natural romantic I need to start using them.

I love the chestnut tights! How would I put an outfit together with coloured tights? Or should I use coloured tights to autumnify my outfit whilst I'm wearing (out) black shoes and skirts?

jennimoo · 12/01/2014 19:52

I've decided to return the green dress :( I do like it but not enough I've decided. I'm not too keen on that colour. As my HoC consultant guessed before I realised, my school uniform was bottle green!
I have some chestnut coloured tights from m&s which are quite handy. I've only worn them with my brown boots.

I really need some better leggings. The two pairs of brown ones I have slip down and create a great muffin top effect on my still squishy mummy tummy. Any recommendations for autumn coloured leggings that fit well, and preferably pull the tummy in!

AutumnDaysWhenTheGrassIsJewell · 12/01/2014 20:26

Coat from Toast arrived - don't need it but love it so it's keeper.
The scarf is very Olive, not good with new coat but seems to energise an under used red coat and some other stuff so is probably a keeper.

frankietwospots · 12/01/2014 20:30

Jennimoo, can I ask how the gold skirt turned out in real life? And the Selected Femme top? Love the look of both of them!

ToffeeWhirl · 12/01/2014 20:40

jennimoo - my DS2 dislikes one of my new green tops because it's the colour of his school sweatshirt Grin.

Not sure about the coloured tights with black, Serri. You might have to wait until you have an Autumn-coloured skirt or dress.

Autumn - glad you love the coat and that the scarf works well with your other coat.

I am really enjoying wearing my new colours. My red nails (wearing Knockout by Liz Earle) make me smile and my DC love it too. Even DH is coming round to the new colour now.

missmagnum · 14/01/2014 13:56

Happy new year to everyone, my phone is currently broken so suffering withdrawal from MN!

I have an interview next week, well it was described as come in for 'a chat', I have been told its a very casual company (creative), they will likely be in jeans. So, rather than go fully suited and booted, I was planning on wearing, dark brown skinny ankle length trousers, brown heels and possibly this top

top

I have tried it on and its a lovely cut, quite smart, not sure the colour is right, is it autumny enough? At least they'll remember me for wearing a very bright top Grin.

What do you think in terms of colour and also is it smart enough?

Thanks

Seri77 · 14/01/2014 14:12

Missmagnum Have you got a HOC/CMB swatch book? I was in Next last week and saw tops in that or a similar colour. I didn't look closely but they seemed a bit acid-y in tone.

The interview outfit sounds great though. Good luck.

missmagnum · 14/01/2014 15:39

Thanks, I don't have a HOC swatch book, it doesn't quite match the swatch I have, but isn't too far off. I think you're probably right though, but hopefully I can just about pull it off (will try putting a bit of extra blusher on Grin). The cut and length are perfect..
