Merry Xmas everybody. I've just bought this jacket for the bargain sum of £17. It is gorgeously soft and the colours are lovely. Browns not black.
Hope you're all enjoying yourselves in different ways.

ToffeeWhirl · 27/12/2013 21:26

That's a bargain, Whitecat Grin.

Have received a free bottle of this nail varnish from Liz Earle. Would you all agree it's an Autumn colour? I think it looks great, but DH is taking some persuasion.

Whitecat · 28/12/2013 22:47

It looks a lovely vibrant tomato red. Isn't it nice to get a freebie?

ToffeeWhirl · 28/12/2013 23:38

Yes, Whitecat, it's a really cheerful colour and brilliant that it was free Grin. Also received a bottle of their gold nail varnish, but it's a cool gold, not warm, and makes my hands look dull.

In spite of DH, I may paint my nails with the new red varnish on NYE. Would go well with the new green wrap dress and red shoes Grin.

QueenofWhatever · 29/12/2013 12:26

Glad to see this thread is still going and hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

I didn't buy anything in the sales. I had a good look (online only, I hate going to the shops at the best of times), but really couldn't see anything I liked. Having had both my colours done and the style day, I've become so exacting in anything I buy. Also maybe it's just me, but the reductions didn't seem that amazing.

However eBay is seriously awash with clothes and I'm watching a few things. I keep seeing lots of good things in autumn colours, just not the right size or style for me. I thought this Uniqlo gilet must be right for someone here at only £2.99.

Jemster · 29/12/2013 13:07

Can anyone suggest which shops have sale items in our colours please as I traipsed round John Lewis yesterday and couldn't find much at all? Thanks

ToffeeWhirl · 30/12/2013 07:04

Jemster - Esprit is quite good on Autumn colours at the moment - chestnut browns, rusts, greens, etc. They have a big sale online.

Queen - thanks for the ebay tip. What did you think of the style day? That's next on my list.

jennimoo · 30/12/2013 18:32

I've got home and collected my john lewis order at last! The green one toffee has is fab, abd could be dressed up or down and worn to work. The wrap front means I could BF fine. However it says dry clean only! Have you washed yours, toffee? Do people really dry clean that kind of thing? I will have to send it back if it really needs dry cleaning...
The purple one is lovely too, and I think the 'right' purple! I'm not sure about the length as it's just below the knee, and a little dressy so I'm not sure his often I'd wear it.

mkmjimmy · 30/12/2013 19:49

Hi jennimoo. I've got the same green dress as toffee. Put it through machine on most gentle wash with hand wash detergent, dried it flat and that worked fine for me. It's a lovely dress so you might want to give hand wasting a go or v gentle machine wash.

ToffeeWhirl · 30/12/2013 20:20

So funny to think of us all wearing the same green dress! I haven't washed mine yet and am a bit scared of doing so, but will have to wash it after wearing it tomorrow night. Thanks for the washing advice, mkm.

QueenofWhatever · 01/01/2014 10:03

toffee just seen that you asked me about the style day. I have reaped the rewards several times over, more so than having my colours done.

I had it done about five months after my colour day, which felt about right. I wouldn't have wanted them too close together.

On both days, my consultant and the other women were MNetters, which meant we had that automatic language which I always enjoy. Also, you rarely get to spend a whole day talking about yourself.

It made me understand why I hate maxi dresses and polo necks. It makes shopping for new clothes easier and harder at the same time. I ignore 90% of stuff now, but when I see something that is right, I know immediately that I will wear it a lot and can just go ahead and buy it.

My resolution as it were for 2014 is to focus again on using everything I have in my wardrobe, rather than lots of buying. I also have a stash of lovely material and it may be the time to take it to the tailors - if I can find some patterns I like, which is also hard now!

QueenofWhatever · 01/01/2014 10:06

Oh jem about the dry cleaning, I read that if you never dry clean it, it's fine to wash it. It's something to do with the chemicals they use when dry cleaning building up.

I have a fair few things now that are dry clean or hand wash only. I stick them in the washing machine in the delicates cycle with some Woolite and they come out great.

ToffeeWhirl · 02/01/2014 09:34

Queen - the style day sounds great. It's good to know that you think it was useful to wait a while between the colour analysis and the style day, as I am going to have to do that anyway. I am a bit sceptical about the whole 'romantic gamine'-type casting, but willing to give it a go anyway.

ToffeeWhirl · 02/01/2014 09:35

Am wearing my red nail varnish from Liz Earle today. Cheers me up every time I notice it Grin.

jennimoo · 02/01/2014 13:06

I really want to do the style day. In going to try to squeeze it in before I go back to work from mat leave, as I need to buy all new work clothes...

charitygirl · 04/01/2014 08:28

Happy New Year Autumns!

I am overdue a long post on my sale purchases, but just had to stop to show you these at Atterley Road
www.atterleyroad.com/rustic-jean-6.html

There's only one size left but if you're a 14 (maybe a generous 14 as they grow slightly with wear) these are a brilliant bargain. High quality jeans (a good mid to hi rise which I do like) and a fantastic, hard to find autumn colour.

Not the only autumn bargain on the site but one of the best...

ToffeeWhirl · 04/01/2014 09:12

They're lovely, charity, and I like that website.

QueenofWhatever · 04/01/2014 17:12

I haven't been inspired enough to buy many clothes recently, but have bought some kingfisher palazzo pants from Kettlewell as they have a sale on at the moment.

I'm planning on investing in a couple of scarves too. Does anyone have the link for the ebay scarf you all bought on the last thread?

Emo76 · 04/01/2014 17:56

hello, I am a newly diagnosed "blue vibrant" autumn. I don't feel naturally drawn to many of the autumn colours at all, so it's a bit of an initial letdown, though I am told by others that this is not an unusual first reaction! I got one lipstick, 606, which just feels very orangey to me - I am not a fan of orange or orangey reds, have never felt they suit me. But will try. Anyway - joining this thread for some inspiration and ideas, I am especially keen for work/suit ideas as all my work wear is black, grey and the "wrong" navy.

lavenderpekins · 04/01/2014 19:32

Hello have any of you changed your eye liner/liquid liner since diagnosis. I've always worn black eye liner and i'm an 'autumn leaf' and i still think black is ok for me on my eyes..? Confused I have hazel eyes btw

ToffeeWhirl · 04/01/2014 20:48

Here you are, Queen.

Emo - welcome. I'm sorry you feel unsure about your colour. Did the other people on the course confirm that you looked better in the autumn colours? I think sometimes people are so used to seeing themselves in a certain way that it takes a while to get used to the new image. I also bought 606 (geranium red), but if I use it like a normal lipstick it's just too bright. So now I smudge a little on my lips first, then add my usual colour on top. It makes a noticeable difference, without being quite so startling.

lavender - I bought these Rimmel eyeliners and like both of them. One is 011 Sable Brown and the other is 031 Jungle Green (for some reason, not shown on the link). I bought them both from Boots for 2.99 each. I like wearing the green one with my new green tops. Have always worn black or dark brown eyeliner before.

QueenofWhatever · 05/01/2014 09:18

Thanks toffee. I think I'll go for the teal one and possibly the dark green. Has anyone got the dark green one? The mustard one is now out of stock because you lot have all bought it.

The price is really good though, especially compared to the £15-20 they often are in shops. What are they like to wear? I'm slightly worried it's a bit big, but the material looks very lightweight.

lavender I had my make up redone by Bobbi Brown at John Lewis after having had my colours done. I had also dyed my hair a sort of reddish chestnut, instead of my previous blonde highlights which made me look very different. She suggested brown eyeliner (espresso I think) and I can see how it suits me. I also hunted down some brown mascara (Rimmel was the only one I could find) and that really does make a difference.

emo I'm guessing by your name that you wear a lot of black. I can see how it might be a change, but once you start it really does make sense.

Emo76 · 05/01/2014 12:39

queen actually it's just a combination of my first and last names HOWEVER I do own quite a bit of black - feel it is always a chic option and until yesterday I thought I looked OK in it. So looking for scarves and tops to get it away from my face!

this blouse looks promising

jeans on sale

Appreciate both of those are a bit ££ and I am not ready to go for them myself but thought someone else might.

Whitecat · 07/01/2014 16:33

Has anyone tried the Aubergine colour from me & em? Is it just too dark for us?

AutumnDaysWhenTheGrassIsJewell · 08/01/2014 11:41

Just put an order in with Toast and have now got cold feet!

The coat I know will be a great style for me have had three other's like it over past 8 years but have now stared at it so much i can't see the colour any more. The scarf fell in the basket at the last moment.

I'm a soft Autumn who likes the darker jewel tones.

Any thoughts? The coat comes in Rose Brick orange as well.
