Agree queen - it triggers my subconscious gimmer: 'your slip's too short!'.

Like that Next skirt, but obviously not alone - pretty much sold out!

onlysettleforbutterflies · 16/12/2013 21:22

They had lots in the shop I was in, same style in coated brown too was nice.

What kind of top though, need a casual day top or jumper..

Hopefully · 17/12/2013 09:27

Love the Next skirt, would be tempted were it not for the current humpty dumpty body.

Toffee I would try brown opaques, or nude with other shoes (black shoes might be the problem, rather than the tights).

ToffeeWhirl · 17/12/2013 11:11

Thanks, Hopefully. I will wear the red shoes next time I want to glam up, but the black shoes were more suitable for that occasion. You might be right that it was the black shoes that were the problem, not the tights.

I have brown opaques already - will give those a whirl.

Still trying to resist that Next skirt...

ToffeeWhirl · 17/12/2013 11:13

only - I love your son's plea: "Take those lips off, Mummy!" Grin

evelynj · 18/12/2013 20:57

Haha only-I love the bright orange but my 4 yo ds wants to wear the lipstick too! Funny. For some reason the geranium HoC looks pretty pink on me & shiny-have I said that already? Getting déjà vu!

Hopefully-you may get something in the sale but how about these?

Toffee, I agree that brown tights sound good-black footwear hasn't done it for me for years & the HoC analysis just confirmed all my suspicions!

I've been using a nars bronzer on my face (it's quite subtle & more warming than bronzing), however I'm quite pale & not sure if I can just use a translucent powder or should I use something mor apricot toned?

Need to work out an outfit for hosting Christmas party on Saturday-am thinking my starting point should be that I wear my tomato red & gold pumps as otherwise I'll just end up without any footwear due to laziness & casual party atmosphere!

sotiredfornow · 20/12/2013 11:55

How are we all doing ladies?

Are you sticking to your colours for evenings out over Xmas? I have just bought this Topshop tunic which works for me as a dark blue/vibrant autumn. It's quite a light navy so suits me perfect. I'm short so it's a dress rather than a tunic and at £24 for a whole outfit I'm pretty chuffed! It looks really classy.

Just ordered these red and green jumpers from DP to try. The red looks lovely and warm on screen.

I really want a blazer or lightweight biker for going out in. It would make an easy outfit with jeans/tee and jewellery. Struggling as they all seem to be black/grey/nude. Any ideas?

I wore my geranium red H&M top with the Rust HOC lipstick and got compliments :)

nickEcave · 20/12/2013 14:04

That dress is lovely sotired. Can I ask how short you are and where the dress comes to on you? I'm 4,11 so dresses are hardly ever the right length on me, but tunics often look much better. Is the neck as high as it looks in the picture?

ToffeeWhirl · 20/12/2013 18:24

Well done on getting your Xmas wardrobe sorted, sotired. Great that you got compliments when wearing your colours Smile - the system must be working.

I am going to be wearing my new forest green dress for Xmas and New Year. Am also going to enjoy wearing several new tops that I've bought since having my colours done - mainly in chestnut brown, olive green or teal, as these are the easiest colours to spot online.

Am itching to buy more clothes and to do the style analysis, but have to wait until I have saved the money .

Am still a bit nervous about wearing my geranium red lipstick. I'm not quite confident enough that it really suits me.

Jemster · 20/12/2013 19:07

Hi
I'm after some advice please. I really need to build myself up a capsule work wardrobe in my colours as I have very little right now and am looking a bit of a mess. I'd like to get some things in the sales but I don't know where's best to find our colours. I like to be smart for work but not suits.

Please could people suggest good shops for me to try as I often spend hours wandering around with no clue what I'm really looking for and come back empty handed. I am on the short side so a lot of dresses can be too long on me although I do like dresses. Thanks in advance.

jennimoo · 20/12/2013 19:13

Jemster - sorry I don't have any advice but am pondering the same thing. I'm back at work in the spring and all my work clothes are with out, don't fit or totally the wrong colours so I have to start over. I'm hoping to do the style day before I start buying but if I spot something in the sales would be tempted!

jennimoo · 23/12/2013 13:45

Anyone seen anything good in the sales? I'd love another casual dress I can get my boobs out in but can't spend too much.
Anyone recommend any sales I might find something?

ToffeeWhirl · 23/12/2013 14:00

The green dress I bought for Xmas is reduced to £59.00, jennimoo (sorry, can't link at the moment, but there's a link upthread). It's low cut, so shows off cleavage if you want it to Smile.

ToffeeWhirl · 23/12/2013 14:02

PS: It's from John Lewis, who also happen to be slashing 50% off Phase Eight, Jaegar and French Connection.

jennimoo · 23/12/2013 15:35

Toffee - I like the dress and would allow BFing (don't think I was very clear that's what I meant !) so have it in my basket and think ill order as it's free delivery to local waitrose and free returns...

ToffeeWhirl · 23/12/2013 16:27

jennimoo - Sorry, I thought you wanted to flaunt your cleavage! You could breastfeed in the dress, but it wouldn't be very discrete, as you'd have to pull the neckline down. Apart from that possible disadvantage for you, it is a very flattering dress. I particularly like the way it has slightly longer sleeves, as they cover up my dry-skinned elbows Grin.

I always wore tops and skirts/trousers when I was breastfeeding because then I could hoick the top up and drape it discretely over my boob whilst my DS fed. It's trickier to manage that in dresses.

jennimoo · 23/12/2013 18:31

I've got a wrap top and a bytton up dress and both have been fine. I just have a vest underneath and lift that up. I couldn't order the dress as no more availability for delivery tomorrow to store, so will try again later for delivery in the new year. I have a purple one in my basket too, bit sure it's right colour wise but worth a try. I doubt either will be there later though...

jennimoo · 23/12/2013 19:50

I've ordered both toffee'a green dress and this purple one.
It's so hard to say if it's a royal purple but as that's one of my ** colours I'll have a try.

ToffeeWhirl · 23/12/2013 19:54

Oooh, I like that purple dress, jenni Envy. Let me know if it's an Autumn, please.

jennimoo · 23/12/2013 20:02

Will do. Unfortunately not being delivered tomorrow, it'll be Friday so will be away a few days and have to wait til next week to collect and try them.

HoHoHopasholic · 24/12/2013 15:47

Went looking round the sales yesterday and as usual a managed to purchase something at full price rather than something in the sale Xmas Grin Bought This lovely dress from Whistles for Xmas day. It's really flattering and covers all lumpage and bumpage nicely!

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow in your festive colours Xmas Smile

ToffeeWhirl · 25/12/2013 00:44

That's lovely, HoHoHop. Enjoy wearing it tomorrow.

And Merry Christmas to you all. Xmas Grin

jennimoo · 25/12/2013 17:01

Merry Christmas! I hope you've all has lovely things in your ** colours ;)

DH has given me a lovely pendant with DCs names on, but it was ordered before I did my analysis and so is silver... He said we could investigate getting it plated, I'm not sure how you go about that. Or the shape (a ring large shape ) would work on some kind of cord (leather thong?) but I don't know how much I'd wear it like that, probably a fair bit.

WWYD?

ToffeeWhirl · 25/12/2013 23:58

That's a really thoughtful present, jenni. Getting it plated is a great idea if you can, but I've no idea how you go it. If it's not possible to do that, I think I'd wear it regardless. There must be Autumn colours that can mix better with silver than others (maybe Hopefully could help with this). For example, my coat is in a Winter purple (looks dark navy really), but my consultant suggested wearing an Autumn purple scarf with it - this looks better on me, but also, cleverly, blends with the coat.

No clothes in ** colours for Christmas for me, but I did get some cash, which I can use to pay for all the new clothes I've bought recently.

Hopefully · 26/12/2013 13:43

Happy Christmas, fellow autumns!

Jenni as toffee suggests, some autumn colours with work better with silver than others - royal purple, petrol navy, forest green, lizard grey, basically any of the less warm ones. Apparentl you can get things plated, but have never investigated as I am a very blue autumn, so quite often wear mixed metals.
