Sweetmelody I have one lizard grey party dress from Karen Millen last year for 'smart' parties, and for evenings out I have tended to wear my petrol leather leggings with a variety of tops and patent nude/purple heels.

Sotired it is slightly harder to find autumn colours in spring/summer, but it tends to be easy to track down coral/peach/off white/khaki/red/yellow, just the darker Autumn colours that are tricker usually.

I am off to London for the weekend to meet friends and have no clue what i will be wearing - have very few smartish clothes that accommodate the bump!

Hopefully · 22/11/2013 16:10

Charity I have just ordered your potentially indecent ASOS dress in the orangey red, as it seemed to be selling out. Am going to have to rely on you for fit information as I probably won't even get it on at the moment!

shopafrolic · 22/11/2013 20:23

Quickly dropping in to say that the Jigsaw sale is on at the moment. There are lots of Autumn coloured bits, including some great scarves and accessories......

charitygirl · 23/11/2013 17:40

Right, bad news on the Asos dress front hopefully: the deep V is fixed so I couldn't find a way to wear it without a vest which didn't look great. But it wasn't flattering anyway - I wasn't expecting to look like the model but I can look relatively willowy in the right midi dress. This made me look like a breeze block badly tied in the middle.

HOWEVER - I could still imagine it looking good on someone, it just has to be their style (obviously!). I need more structure and that dress literally only touches the body round the waist. Let me know if you can get any sense of how it will look non-pg. and did you ever report back on the leggings?!

The batwing mini was much better but it also going back because,as my HoC consultant so wisely said, there is no point me trying to wear drapey, unstructured tops even with something tight/fitted on the bottom. It just doesn't work. Don't know why I thought it might...

Having said that I've just ordered another three dresses, one of which looks a wee bit drapey. But I've ordered it in a small size! Will post links later. Was somebody wishing for a rust dress - I've found one!

sweetmelody · 23/11/2013 18:01

Charitygirl - I ordered the ASOS dress today. As they had sold out of my size, I got the next size down figuring I may get lucky since I'm small up top. Not so optimistic now....

On another subject, did you post up thread about knee high brown suede boots? I'm on the hunt for a pair. Care to share??

charitygirl · 23/11/2013 18:22

I did - I love them!

My links to Office never seem to work so if this doesn't you can google Office Action boot.

Sizing down is a smart move with that dress I reckon, it wasn't skimpy. And if you're small up top, maybe you could get away with no vest underneath! It IS a great autumn colour I must say.

sweetmelody · 23/11/2013 18:48

They are gorgeous, charity - but need more of a heel so I can wear with pencil skirts etc..

Well fingers crossed for the dresses then (oh yes, ordered the red AND the green!)

Hopefully · 24/11/2013 12:41

Charity that's not what I wanted to hear! Oh well, at least ASOS returns are easy. Will try it on just in case (as much as is possible with the bump). I can't actually remember if I ordered green or red in the end. I think red.

Oh, and I've been getting good use from my uber-cheap maternity dress. I ordered the leopard print, figured it would be crap quality but might be useful, and actually although it's not amazing quality, it isn't half bad for a tenner. I'm going to get another, maybe red.

charitygirl · 24/11/2013 14:27

I LOVE stretchy pencil dresses - live in my two for work. And leopard print is (before my tartan mania) pretty much the only pattern I wear - would love to find a non-mat version!

Will def post my next Asos order soon, but in the meantime...um, do we think the pinkness of these makes then non-autumnal, despite the base colour. I love them!

shopafrolic · 24/11/2013 17:59

Those were the leggings I mentioned for Hopefully - I'm sure you wanted them ages back?

charitygirl · 24/11/2013 18:04

Oh really? So maybe they are autumn! I'd nt seen them before but they hit me between the eyes on the Outnet. Love! Luckily the Small is sold out, tho the medium wd probably work...but when I think what I'd wear them with I can only imagine black. And I don't have any black any more.

Help hopefully!

shopafrolic · 24/11/2013 18:07

I have a similar pink in my swatch (I'm not HoC but am warm deep Autumn). I loved them but had no idea how / where to wear them…..

shopafrolic · 24/11/2013 18:07

Also think as not close to face they could work…….

charitygirl · 24/11/2013 18:13

It certainly looks like a warm pink. Oh this is typical - now I've seen them, that's what I want to wear to Xmas parties and it makes the dresses I'm chuntering on about above seen so boring. BUT I don't really have any suitable tops to go with (maybe one vest top) and I'm not a big heels wearer (or not a wearer of big heels) which they probably need. Gah!

ToffeeWhirl · 24/11/2013 19:00

Have just come back from my HOC analysis, clutching my Autumn swatch. I'm an Autumn Leaf, apparently, and its the more vibrant end of the spectrum that suits me most.

Hope you don't mind me joining you and getting some tips. I have a whole new wardrobe to purchase!

Seri77 · 24/11/2013 21:05

Hi Toffee, always good to see another autumn leaf. What are your ** colours? I've found this thread and the one before really helpful, especially at highlighting fabulous clothes I wouldn't have found myself.

I'm slowly building up my wardrobe as I also did the style day followed by a massive cull of lots of unsuitable clothes.

I still can't find any autumnal pyjamas. It's all grey, wine and pink. Anyone seen anything? I'm looking for comfy & cosy pjs without any twee patterns or pictures on them.

ToffeeWhirl · 24/11/2013 21:13

Hi Seri. My two-star colours are chestnut, brick, moss green, mustard, bronze, royal purple and kingfisher. I don't think I have a single item of clothing in any of those colours!

Much as I would love to rush out and buy loads of clothes, I'm limited by budget, so am going to start out with a scarf and maybe a couple of tee-shirts. Might treat myself to a dress for Christmas too.

How helpful was the style day?

RockMummy · 24/11/2013 21:22

I'm vibrant autumn leaf too. I have translated mustard into antique gold and H&M have had quite a bit of that as have Boden. Uniqlo have teal/kingfisher t shirts.
I agree about nightclothes. It's a nightmare trying to find something in our colours. I ended up with a henley nightshirt from Celtic in chalk which has turned out to be ivory.

ToffeeWhirl · 24/11/2013 21:58

Hi, RochMummy. Thanks for those tips. I'm a bit confused about the teal actually because it's mentioned in the Kettlewell catalogue under the Autumn category, but not in the little booklet I brought back from my colour session. The blues mentioned in my recommendations are: navy, heliotrope, kingfisher and peacock. Is one of those the same colour as teal Confused? (Hope so, because I like the teal dress in the Kettlewell catalogue).

ToffeeWhirl · 24/11/2013 21:59

Ah, have just reread your post and realise you have put teal/kingfisher. Sorry, didn't read it properly. So, kingfisher and teal are the same colour?

charitygirl · 24/11/2013 22:23

In the non-HoC world, kingfisher = teal! And teal is very easy to get hold of, you almost have to be careful not to buy too much! uniqlo is a good source of teal, as are new look, river island, asos...

ToffeeWhirl · 24/11/2013 22:32

Thank you. I like teal, so I'm glad to hear it. Oh, I can buy that dress now Grin.

I can see this thread is going to be a dangerous source of shopping temptation...

evelynj · 24/11/2013 23:16

Hello and welcome!

I'm desperately seeking some budgety autumn pjs & a nice chocolate brown preferably dressing gown. So hard to find. May go for these pjs if I don't find any in the next week or so..

jennimoo · 25/11/2013 08:14

I've got some slightly greying white pyjamas I plan to dye brown with a couple of other bits I've got.

If you're after just a few tops to get started there are definitely a few bits around on the high st at the mo, the too shop tops above look great and I picked up some brown / cream / coffee bits in H&m.

I've also bought a lovely coffee coloured knitted boden dress on eBay for next to nothing. Thankfully it fits well as was a bit of a risk and the buttons mean I can breastfeed in it :)

I've managed to get lots of bits so can now dress in my season most of the time. I feel all 'together' when I do :)

Really need a decent pair of brown leggings, preferably ones that keep their shape / pull tummy in, if anyone has any recommendations?

I'm also after a dress for my work Christmas do. Unlike my others I won't need boob access :) I'd love to get a royal purple one, but unlikely to find one. Otherwise brick, rosewood, coffee, lizard grey and apple jade are ** colours. I'm after something to suit saggy mummy tummy and big BFing boobs! If you spot anything suitable do let me know!

Hopefully · 25/11/2013 15:52

Charity I ordered and sent back those leggings. The combination of the black and the Winter pink in them just took them too far out of my palette. I will wear prints that are 40% wrong, but those leggings were more like 75% wrong.

Night clothes are a PITA in Autumn colours - I finally got an Autumn coloured (maternity) nightie for the first time a few weeks ago, having had my colours done years ago! There is tons of pink/burgundy/grey/black/pale blue. Drives me demented.

Jennimoo if I didn't have a humpty dumpty tummy and fat arms atom, I would be ordering this for all christmas parties and keeping my fingers crossed it was more royal than it looks in the picture!
