HoC Autumns

Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

I got that Oasis dress, the blue one with brown print, yesterday and I love it - it's a smidgeon shorter on me (5' 8) than I would like but will be fine with opaques and boots. Also noticed they had this lovely top which I am trying to justify and a few great colours in their basic t-shirt.

I don't work for them, honest!

MadBusLady · 28/08/2013 12:26

Sorry, getting my threads confused.

This dress.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 28/08/2013 13:32

Love that dress BusLady. I saw some nice things in Mango at lunch time, they had a few ranges in autumn prints/colours.

TheWombat · 28/08/2013 14:30

Baukjen has 25% off for anyone with code JOY25 - dresses only though I think, but some autumn colours in there.

charitygirl · 28/08/2013 16:46

Woot! Just got some orange red Sonia Rykiel silk trousers in a vintage shop (on hols in Shropshire) and a lovely cream silk vintage blouse. Trousers make me look half a stone lighter and two inches taller - prob because they're a two star colour for me. Both super bargains.

Also found a boutique selling expensive tights (one of my resolutions this a/w is to buy quality tights in my right colour) - got deep forest green and petrol blue. Think the brand is Fodal. Hooray for random holiday finds!

shopafrolic · 28/08/2013 21:11

Wow! Amazing purchases charitygirl

Cocochops · 28/08/2013 21:20

Marking place.

Had hoc day about a year ago was disappointed at being an autumn as they are not my favourite colours but loving the things you ladies are picking out.

The pinterest boards are great for inspiration too. I am holding of buying anything for the moment as I have a style day booked in a couple of weeks. I am super excited by this and hope to build a capsule wardrobe. Mine is pretty dismal as have spent a lot of the last 3 years either pregnant or breastfeeding!

MadBusLady · 28/08/2013 22:23

I think it has to be a bit of a fusion of the "right" colours and personal preference. Can't see myself loving mustard, and I'm never going to totally abandon black.

Capsule wardrobe from a standing start is brilliant fun Smile

onlysettleforbutterflies · 29/08/2013 08:25

BusLady I avoided mustard for years after having my colours done, then someone bought me a mustard top, wore it for work and the amount of compliments I got that day was amazing, now I wear it lots Grin.

I am desperate for a burnt orange long sleeve t to wear for layering, I can't find one anywhere, please let me know if you have seen one.

RockMummy · 29/08/2013 09:24

I thought the same as you Buslady, thought I would never like mustard. I bought the Ravello top and the straight legged cords from Boden in burned gold. They looked nice on but a bit ££ so I hoped DH and DM wouldn't like them. Unfortunately they were both very complimentary so the clothes are staying! Give it a try. You might be surprised.

GeorginaWorsley · 29/08/2013 11:01

Interested in the Boden finds.
Had a goldy yellow cropped cardigan from themlasy year that I love, will give Ravello top a try.
Am also searching out russet, burnt orange and a mossy or pea green.

porridgecarver · 29/08/2013 11:03

Wow, great thread, I am an autumn, so many ideas :)

buildingmycorestrength · 30/08/2013 00:38

Debenhams has a Red Herring mustard split sleeve tunic that I love but which has a high neck which would not suit.

I also really like the purple Kaliko Ponteroma dress, so simple and lovely.

Have a couple of day events coming up and could do with a new dress...scoop neck to flatter biggish boobs, flattering on big old wobbly tummy, not too short, etc. Will let you know if I see anything.

buildingmycorestrength · 30/08/2013 00:48

This dress is burnt orange, I reckon, and ticks other boxes!

Sorry not Linky.

buildingmycorestrength · 30/08/2013 17:29

Picked up a luuuurvely stretch midi skirt in teal today in Primark...for a fiver. Grin.

Seri77 · 30/08/2013 17:48

Having charity shopped my last smart (wrong shape, wrong colour) jacket, I bought this today. Its a lovely dark khaki, didnt fancy top to toe brown for smart clothes as would worry I might resemble a poo.

Not the most formal jacket but fits me very nicely across the shoulders and beautifully shaped on waist. It falls like the main picture, not the strange way it does on the model. I suspect I have more curves.

My quest this winter is: I'm after a coat and jacket. I want a mid thigh deep green coat, waterproof but not a mac, not duffle buttons. Dark choc brown leather biker jacket quite fitted but with a collar. The nice ones I've seen have no collar which I don't like. I have a huge pinterest page of clothes, I want to linky but its in my name.

DipMeInChocolate · 30/08/2013 18:00

That's nice Seri

Seri77 · 30/08/2013 18:44

DipMeInChocolate, I quite fancy a green coat now too. Have to get a couple more winters out of my North Face black one first sadly.

I've been looking at this Merrell one in teal. Really like their boots too.

Oh and you could either change your name or get a new id and copy some pins over? I love looking at other people's Pinterest boards. I must try to make mine fit for sharing.

OP posts:
DipMeInChocolate · 30/08/2013 19:37

Think its worked Pinterest

MadBusLady · 30/08/2013 20:21

That worked! I love all your taupe/cappucino/greige (sp?) type colours - they are what I'm really thinking of when I say "brown". It is indeed important to avoid resembling a poo Grin

Seri77 · 31/08/2013 12:38

That's a fine board DipMe, lots of ideas there. I'll have a good browse this afternoon.

My board isn't so interesting, just things I've bought or am considering. Haven't worked out how to put outfits together either. It's a work in progress, but I'm getting lots of inspiration from this thread.

OP posts:
MadBusLady · 31/08/2013 13:04

I'm still working on the outfitting too. That's why I have a lot of dresses, it's just easier!

I have that brown cap-sleeve Wallis top, can vouch for it, very comfortable and not cheap feeling, runs a bit large like a lot of their stuff.

Seri77 · 31/08/2013 13:25

Yes madbuslady I really rate those wallis cap sleeve tops. Bought some white ones a year ago for work as they were cheap, they've been worn and washed most weeks and they're still wearable. The coral one is really close to the coral in the HOC autmn swatch book too.
