HoC Autumns

Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

Hopasholic - I love that dress. I keep seeing fab dresses I want to try but I'm BFing so hardly any are suitable :(

Jennimoo - you're a fellow September birth thread member! I bought the rust cord skirt from Sainsburys yesterday too with a ?terracotta jersey shirt which is ideal for breastfeeding. I agree that dresses are tricky when feeding.

This thread is great - already ordered the leaf print scarf and the red cardigan from Tesco!! Too much temptation especially whilst I'm on maternity leave!!

Jennimoo breastfeeding clothes are a nightmare, I am so not looking forward to entering that stage again next year.

I've been out and bought my H&M jumper dress in the creamy biscuit colour as well as the olive I already had. Nice and slouchy and comfy.

I'm only on page 6 reading through the thread and, thankfully for my bank balance, lots of the links don't work ;)

Geiorgie - what was the shirt like? Might go back in a few days to return the jumper as it's a bit small. Good to hear there's a fellow BFer on here. I'm totally fed up of non underwired bras and having to have access. I BF my first until a little past 2, when I was pg with DC2, so have had nearly 4 y of the bras, but plan to go underwired this time anyway!

If anyone sees any dresses with wrap tops / buttons I'd be keen to hear!

The dress I bought on eBay after linking to that coast coat arrived today.

It's gorgeous! Principles, silk, aubergine with a gold swirly pattern, button detail at the back, just the right length for dancing in.

Jenni I wore underwired BFing bras, so much more comfortable.

I am feeling poorly today (have been staving off a cold all week but pregnancy insomnia and two days off work have conspired to make it hit now), so slobbing in chocolate brown harem pants and a bright orange Isabella Oliver v neck top.

Hopefully have you found any good Autumn maternity clothes? I am depressed about the black/grey/whiteness of it all. I've been putting off buying but I'm about to burst out of my trousers!

There is virtually nothing Schmalex! I am rotating my two slouchy H&M dresses, a couple of isabella oliver tops, and randomly a few quite nice things from Mothercare and Next, of all places, including khaki under bump jeggings and a cable knit jumper with zips. I have had to admit defeat and buy one pair of charcoal grey skinnies from H&M though.

Hopefully - I've actually ordered a few underwired bras that I could convert to nursing ones, hopefully clothes will start to look a little better!

I'm tempted to try altering cheap items like Jersey dresses and tunics to make the BFing friendly, as I can sew just a little.

I've got a debenhams personal shopper session booked in a few weeks. Has anyone done this? Will they understand if I say that I want to stick to my colours? I booked as I'm desperate to get some outfits together and rubbish at the best of times, but even then I'll have a baby with me, although DH will be there too.

And I successfully adjusted a few large sized tops at the end of my pregnancy. If they're sleeveless you can get it to fit the bump then shorten straps and take the sides in a little at the top. I'm not a great sewer but helped me through the last couple of months when I grew out of the stuff I had!

Jenni you might find it more useful to do some personal shopping with your HoC consultant - only in that it doesn't limit you to one shop, as sometimes it's hard to find much that's right for your season in only one shop, especially with BFing access requirements too (is your debenhams massive? In which case ignore me, there will probably be enough).

It's a pretty big debenhams, loads of departments. I thought that even if I don't like exactly what's there it the colours are wrong, I could just try to be inspired by the shapes of things and look elsewhere. Hopefully I'll have picked up a fair few bits by then anyway, might even cancel if I can get a few outfits together before then!

Thanks hopefully - I might snap up those jeggings! At the moment I am resorting to black maternity vests with autumnal scarves, jewellery and cardis.

I am also on the lookout for a waterproof maternity coat in an autumn colour. I realise I have no hope though! Last pregnancy I just wore my normal coat open, but that doesn't really work when you have to take a toddler to the park rain or shine.

Hopasholic that moss green jumper from Mint Velvet looks amazing. Too expensive for me sadly, do Mint Velvet ever have sales?

Just switched blusher to the bourjois no2 cream blush-it's really peachy & I'm liking it!

Does anyone think there's a better HoC red lipstick for deep autumns than the brick red before I order it?

I can't wear the mustard scarf - the colours just don't work and it feels like Brillo pads around my neck, I even washed it but it remains scratchy...what can I say - I'm a princess!

Evelyn is it 606 you're ordering? I alternate 606 and 12 for reds (I'm a dark blue autumn).

Thanks hopefully, yes 606. I may try this & if I don't love it in a few weeks ask to check some of the other lippy colours when my consultant is around my neck of the woods.j

Snow, I didn't find the scarf scratchy, (or mustardy for that matter!). Have you tried any of the other same sort of eBay scarves? I got about 4 from eBay & all same flimsy fabric but comfy enough & same as ones from high st.

You may have to splash out on some fancy scarves ;)

I think I got a dodgy one, my other ebay scarves have been fine. But my skin is a little precious when it comes to wools....I am on the look out for a forest green cashmere....it's on my Christmas list. Perfect colour to wear with my non-compliant black coats but I want it to be larger than the standard 150cm by 30cm and I don't want to pay more than £50 - not asking much, am I?

And on the mustardy thing in the scarf - it got the lowest rating of all the autumn colours for me - you'd think I'd have paid attention to that rather than being a total sheep!
