HoC Autumns

Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

I could perhaps do with a 12, not 10, but it looks nice - perfect for a day of meetings followed by an evening work do, or for a smart ish event. I'm an Ingenue Natural (but one who needs structure up top) if anyone's interested in that kind of stuff.

I've just taken delivery of this, somebody mentioned them upthread. Wouldn't have bought this full price but it's lovely, the pictures don't do it justice. It's slightly more greeny and slightly less sparkly in the flesh.

MadBusLady that skirt is very nice - will you wear tights with it or bare legs?

I was thinking bare legs now and opaques later, but having seen it black or grey opaques would kill it. Will have to find autumn opaques!

I am an Autumn too :-) - a deep blue one according to Hopefully
My best colours are all the blues (also some from the other seasons), dark browns, dark greens, and brights like purple, scarlet and tangerine. I too have found Baukjen really useful for tees in khaki, orange/coral and bright blue (not all autumns can work these but they are pretty good on me).

I got some vests from kettlewell (tried tops too but they were too short for me - I'm long waisted).

I struggle with trousers and work gear. I haven't found good substitutes for navy (and black) skinnies, or dark grey/black work trousers - these, with a blazer, are my typical work / leisure wardrobe. Luckily I'm quite dark so I can 'get away' with these because my colours tend towards deep and bright, but it's not ideal and I'm always on the hunt for replacements.

I have tried to hunt down dark green/brown skinnies, but haven't found any I like yet (plenty of cords but they don't feel right on me), and all the brown work clothes look somehow horribly polyester-y, dated and cheap (yuck).

For jackets I found two from the Boden catalogue that worked well for me:

Boden's not everyone's taste, but (shh) I get quite a lot from there - this year they have some good autumn colours, and I got some ivory and scarlet blouses from there. Somehow these (and the above jackets) look un-frumpy on me (promise) with skinnies, a scarf and ankle boots.

Yes I agree Boden can be good for Autumns.
They used to domore chocolate colours though.

Waves to fellow Autumns. I wish I'd had my colours done by HoC now but the woman who did mine diagnosed me as Warm Deep Autumn. Marine navy, peacock and orange all seem to work well on me, and forest green, darker khakis.
I saw this scarf today in Whistles scarf but got confused as to whether it was actually autumn toned or not....... It seemed to suit me . Any ideas?
They had a lot of khaki coming in but lots of man made fabrics.

I tried a khaki coat on yesterday and was amazed at how nice it looked.
Good that Whistles gettting some khaki in but their prices are extravagant!!!

I'll need to wait until they do a 30% off Grazia event before I buy it. Not sure when the next one is..... I do half a warm pink in my swatches so it should be okay. I felt good when I tried it on which seems to be a good indicator. The stuff I wear once and then not again I have nw found out was the wrong colour for me.

TheWombat interesting, I had turned the page corners on those two (think Boden does coats and jackets better than practically everything else they do.) Just not sure I can take the buttons on the 50s jacket - could replace I guess, but it's a lot of money. The others I was looking at were this one in gold, this one in Forest or maybe in sandstone, but that might be too cool.

MadBusLady yes the buttons are HUGE - I think I will have to tone down the rest of my outfit - not sure a scarf would work with it either. But it is a lovely cut and texture. I'm not sure other buttons would work - might be tricky to find something else in proportion. For me they still work because they're the same colour and material as the rest of the jacket so add drama without being too standy-outy.

I love the two other coats in your link, but agree the sandstone might be a tad cool - you'd have to be order to be sure though!

I'm not convinced that forest green coat is an autumn green madbus - looks too bright and cool to me. Love the gold though - v tempted.

I also love the Whistles scarf, shop. I am on the lookout for good scarves to liven up my maternity wardrobe.

I'm a warm autumn, I tend to use brown or navy as my base colours and wear lots of dark greens, rust, mustard, oxblood, tan, teal and cobalt blue seems to work well.

Always really really struggle to find nice brown trousers for work, especially as I need a 34inch leg too, its a never-ending search. Also really struggle to find dark brown shoes - court shoe type style for work.

Budget is quite low at the moment for clothes, but I've picked up a few things in the right colours from H&M and Next lately.

Thewombat - I think Zara have some brown and dark green skinnies in.

Am on hunt for rust and mustard colours definitely.
Seem to find teal and peacock colours fine.

Thank you onlysettleforbutterflies, I will look in Zara for skinnies in Autumn colours. :) lots of oxblood type colours everywhere right now - I find them tricky though, I'm not sure they're good colours for me at all.
Hobbs have some lovely rust - coloured jeans GeorginaWorsley - they are expensive though.

Also spotted some in the jasper conran range at Debenhams. I tend to wear oxblood with mustard, I think it looks ok anyway lol.

I know I shouldn't say it but I just want summer to be over now so I can wear my lovely tweed, opaque tights, boots, fake fur...

brown jeans I've tried these on and they're a nice fit and quality is okay, especially for the price. Too short for me though and annoyingly they don't do a long length.

Jemster if you've got a HoC consultant (disclaimer, I am one, so you may want to ignore everything I say!) near you, you could probably ask them if you could go and try out their products? I've done that a few times with people who aren't my own clients, and they usually find something they like.

QoW I went through a long stage of paralysis after first having my colours done, took me ages to be able to get over it enough to buy anything! It probably took two years for my wardrobe to be fully 'workable' iykwim, because I couldn't afford to just go out and buy a load of stuff that was right for me straight away.
