HoC Autumns

Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

Curiosity I'll have a look in the shop then...thanks!

CuriosityCola · 14/10/2013 13:29

Love those boots. Where did you get the voucher?

They will look fab with a more feminine dress.

snowlie · 14/10/2013 13:46

I google for codes before I buy anything online, heres one from Marie Claire BSTYLE13BTS20

MotherOfSoupDragon · 14/10/2013 18:18

My scarf arrived today, the eBay one. It's lovely, beautiful colours. Can't wait to wear it tomorrow Smile

GeorginaWorsley · 14/10/2013 19:58

Agree mother
So many lovely colours in it it goes with anything.

charitygirl · 14/10/2013 21:48

I do feel rather guilty hopefully as they were your idea in the first place, and I'll probably have v few opps to wear them! They seem to have been a huge seller tho, so I'll no doubt be shamed on the bus sitting next to some tossy-haired 17 year old size 8 in them.

snow - I'll be styling them with a voluminos top half for sure, not with a crop top a la Rihanna...I've got an oversized paprika cardi, and a large cream jumper (both fine knit, I just don't suit chunky). My office uncanny boots look fab with them, but so do my Ash wedges and Virgins. Thought biker boots (like your new ones but calf length) would suit, but they don't look quite right. And then my new Azteccy scarf (linked above) - despite the pattern clash it really works because of the volume. I know it looks crap in the link but its really big, feels quality, and drapes beautifully. For £13! As I've pretty much given up hope of a jacket I'm just going to wear that instead.

Wish I could wear tartan leggings to work. But...no. Oh, and if I lose my nerve, I might put a jersey mini on top.

CuriosityCola · 15/10/2013 08:44

Thanks to this thread I have just ordered the clarks boots and a couple of scarfs. I foresee being on here is going to be an expensive business Grin

snowlie · 15/10/2013 08:52

But you'll look gorgeous curiosity Grin

I'm on a spending freeze till after Christmas, all wants have to be scribbled onto my Christmas list, otherwise the danger is that I don't actually want anything!

CuriosityCola · 15/10/2013 09:13

Grin That is the plan. Was getting really fed of my clothes and steering close to unflattering mummy clothes.

I haven't shopped properly in about two years (other than maternity clothes), so it's good to be building a wardrobe again.

I do wish I could just buy a bumper pack of essentials/ basics. This weekend I'm on the hunt for new underwear. Just realised that I won't need a black bra as black isn't one of my swatches.

sweetmelody · 15/10/2013 13:32

Hello ladies

I am newly diagnosed as a 'vibrant autumn'. My entire wardrobe will need sorting at some point (only had my colour analysis done on Saturday), but wondered what colours for a maid of honour dress would you go for? My sister originally wanted my in fuschia but is open to suggestions (especially since she is a 'soft autumn'!). She is worried about co-ordinating flowers...

easypeeler · 15/10/2013 18:05

Anyone seen this CC jacket? I think it's a good autumn colour but not sure what to wear it with.

RockMummy · 15/10/2013 18:21

sweetmelody: Has your sister thought about peach, ivory, coral or something stronger like burnt gold or teal? What colour is her own dress going to be? What are the colourings of any other bridesmaids?

sweetmelody · 15/10/2013 19:45

RockMummy her dress is ivory and the men are in Navy. The HoC consultant suggested peach/apricot which is a colour I've never worn (have one coral top in my wardrobe)

I really like this

She wants us in A line tea dresses though Hmm

CuriosityCola · 15/10/2013 20:28

I love the dress you have linked to sweet melody. Not sure about tea dresses though. They can be hard to pull off, especially when trying to suit more than one person. Is her dress short?

RockMummy · 15/10/2013 20:43

I like that too. Very sophisticated and not at all bridesmaid-like. Does it go with the style of your sister's wedding though?

sweetmelody · 15/10/2013 21:08

I though it was more of a raditional bridesmaid dress Confused

And sorry, when I said tea dresses, I actually meant the shorter-style prom dress that is quite popular (below the knee).

It's a traditional white wedding. She is going for the big, ivory, A-line job. The other bridesmaids are younger (2 x teenage adult and three younger ones) and she is happy for us to be in different dresses but in the same colour.

I thought it was Pippa-esque, but in a good way? Navy sash, maybe, if the men are in navy?

evelynj · 15/10/2013 21:12

Like that dress too, would love to be on a wedding in all autumn colours now!

My feather Scarf arrived now too and I love it! I've now bought so many scarves that I've actually had my husband put a curtain pole at waist height in our dressing room to drape all my scarves over so I can see them all at a glance, it's great!

I'm also going to try to stop spending now until the Jan sales :) and put wishes on Christmas list-one thing I haven't stuck to was my consultants advice to 'not buy 2 of anything until you have one of everything' for the capsule wardrobe.

Please please can someone confirm the sub types of autumn-vibrant, soft etc. Need to check with consultant but think I'm deep as my ** are dark brown, dark olive?

Keep linking to the pretty things-I lobe those Clarks boots & though it wouldn't suit me that Cc jacket is lovely, beautiful colour :)

RockMummy · 15/10/2013 21:18

It could be traditional these days sweetmelody. It's years since I have been to a wedding. I like the idea of all the same colour but different styles. That means you can find something you like which suots your body shape and you feel comfortable in. A navy sash would be good.
Glad you like the feather scarf evelyn.
CC jacket is defintely not my style either but, as you say it's a lovely colour.

snowlie · 15/10/2013 21:20

My memories of peach bridemaid's dresses are something to be filed in fashion horrors of the 1980s, so I was shocked and surprised to like the Apricot version link. Funny how we feel about colours.

CuriosityCola · 16/10/2013 10:00

Haha snowlie, I was a peach/puff sleeved/hoop skirted bridesmaid in the 80's SmileGrin

easypeeler · 16/10/2013 10:45

I was a peach-chiffon-meringue bridesmaid in the early 80's Grin

onlysettleforbutterflies · 16/10/2013 13:47

I was walking past Miss Selfridge earlier, I never normally go in there but spotted a few autumn type things. I am not very confident I know exactly what shades of things I should be going for (Soft Autumn), let me know what you think:

tomato red shirt

bright red top

not sure if this dress seems too dark

can't really see myself in this, is the orange too bright?

thanks

Hopefully · 16/10/2013 14:25

Only I think all of those look great from the online pics apart from possibly the ponte dress, which might be a bit cool with the navy and the purply pink, unless the navy is a tealy/petrol navy.

charitygirl · 16/10/2013 16:54

LovEly shirt Only - id wear it tucked into my olive skinnies. and not done up to the neck, fashion be damned.

Allthebees · 16/10/2013 19:50

Only - I haven't shopped in miss selfridge for YEARS but I too noticed that dress. Was thinking of a chunky knit cardi with it, New Look have some good autumny coloured cardis at the mo....
