HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Hi all - yup, I found the unicorn lady very interesting too! Season mentioned her on another thread.

I might try a tan jacket then (and steal your looks!!). I think a style day soon-ish is inevitable...! Although I'm pretty sure I'm a classic mixed with either natural or maybe ingenue. Probably natural.

Love all the links people have posted!

p.s. Glasses - yup, sure a navy coat with a scarf would be lovely.

Glasses a navy coat is perfect for us, then you can add different brights in your accessories. I have bought this in navy www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Coats/WE407/Womens-Mia-Coat.html
and plan to wear it with the pink bag and scarf i linked to upthread. I also have loads of other bright scarves to change the look

Gilly, you are a wealth of lovely links, I really love the MB scarf.

Grin at unicorn lady. My postnatal woolly sleep deprived brain did get a little lost at times but I get where she's coming from. I don't understand why I am a bright spring though?! I'm not that high contrast, do have fairly strong brows but they and my hair are dark blond/brown naturally and my eyes middish blue. I would never get mistaken for a winter! I get that working to your contrast is the thing to do, I wish my consultant had mentioned this.

Thank you for the link to the unicorn lady, it's a very interesting site. Lots to go & read!
I'm confused really about the contrast thing still though as I'm completely different from most of you, have virtually no contrast, look complete opposite of Mary Poppins., pale skin, hair as light as it's possible to be blonde & my eyes are turquoise ( variously described as unusual, amazing, really strange Confused)
My two star colours at 100% are all the blues & turquoises, leaf green & dove grey and two stars at 75% are navy, coral & poppy. The tans, yellows & browns are much lower rated for me except for banana & honey which get two stars at 50%.
My consultant never really mentioned contrast. Perhaps because there were three of us & the other two were related & had brought along extra family members to " view" so in all that I felt a bit outnumbered really.

Aquelven you sound more like a true spring to me, did you read the unicorn ladies' posts on True Spring? She often does polyvores of outfits in good colour combos which i found helpful. Love the fact I have re-christened the esteemed Christine Scaman as the unicorn lady....

My consultant diagnosed me as a Blue Spring, & am sure she was right as the drawings really popped the colours. So is that a True Spring on the unicorn lady's site then as I did wonder seeing as she didn't seem to have Blue Spring?
Thank you Beginner...flattery will get you everywhere! Smile Blush

I dont think that the unicorn lady and HoC categories cross over exactly but I suspect Blue Spring is closest to her True spring, yes

Gah! I thought I was a blue(ish) spring but I might be a 'bright spring' now...

I've been wearing the bobbi brown apricot blush for years, way before the colours thing, and it is beeeeyoootiful. Trust me. I've also got the Chanel rebelle which is like a posh lip butter in clear red. But I think my fave is still mac Crosswires

jumpinghoops · 14/08/2013 20:47

MAC Fleur Power is a smashing blusher by the way, I think a litle touch of this has made my face look much better with the bright lips.

I've been rummaging around to see if I can find the Bobbi brown bit of paper saying what blusher they put on me (on saturday) but I loved it. Thought it was called 'coral' but I can't find it on the Internet - wasn't sparkly at all but it was great.

Somebody please reassure me that nars orgasm is ok for springs!

I've heard orgasm does look sparkly on some? Is it deep throat that's similar but non sparkly maybe?
Bobbi brown blusters are fantastic, I love apricot and nectar

Mac see sheer is my fave subtle everyday lippy, because some days I just can't do shouty spring lips

I love the look of See Sheer, the comparison swatch you showed upthread was v helpful. I am mourning the loss of Crosswires at the moment and was planning to get another, while it is generally my favourite lipstick it can feel a bit bright for work and I hope that See Sheer could be the one for this!! How does BB Apricot compare with Fleur Power (if you have both)?

Ah - I had a mix of deep throat and orgasm on my wedding day! Had a spaceNK make-up person... Yeah - it probably is a bit sparkly - I should wear glasses really but don't Wink. (Only a bit short sighted..!)

Am buying that lipstick, thank you gillybobs. And a new blusher probably!

Just a thought vitamin, but maybe start an autumn thread??? Bet loads of people would join in!! I've found all the suggestions on this one very interesting. Not that you're not welcome on this one Grin. I still feel very inane (and a bit Bridget jones' mum) banging on about the whole 'colours' thing but love it...Wink.

I've been buying the wrong Mac colours! Chatterbox, Speed Dial & Bombshell. Still like Bombshell though, it's pink but warm. Can't wait to try the right ones, especially See Sheer & Crosswires
