HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Aque - I'm interested to see how different we all might be looks wise yet still be the same Blue springs! I'm much darker than you - if my hair isn't coloured it would be light to mid ash Brown, I have Green - Hazel eyes and sallow skin (medium tone and tan well). Very clear looking and neutral.
My consultant initially thought winter (or Sprinter?). I could never work it out myself.

Aquelven · 09/11/2013 23:52

Yes, it's funny how different we can be but yet the same sub group season. My eyes are turquoise, my skin is very pale Mac NW15 is the nearest match. I was convinced I'd be a light summer.

ebaymad · 10/11/2013 00:02

Ha Good point Mumelle Grin

My mum would love to be HOC'd! may have to get it for her for her birthday...

Sorting out my wardrobe tomorrow!

Mumelie · 10/11/2013 11:40

Have fun with your wardrobe today ebay. Wish I was doing that again - I love a good wardrobe organise!
Aque I've just taken a look at my wallet for how many ** I have at 100% and its 13!!
Bright navy, Oxford blue, banana, coral, geranium, poppy, geranium pink, flamingo pink, leaf Green, corn yellow, violet, bright blue and turquoise.
Mostly all the bright ones! Difficult not to look like a clown some days Wink
Today I have the poppy red Boden jumper on I linked to before. A tan and black long sleeve stripey top as the jumper has 3/4 sleeves, the navy boden skinnies and tan knee boots. Off for a spot of Sunday lunch and a yomp round a NT place in the sunshine.
What's everyone else up to today?

BeginnerSAHM · 10/11/2013 14:25

Hello! Yes, have fun eBay! Need to do mine again actually. Needs a good tidy/purge!

I am still only described as a 'blue-ish' spring so not sure but have different colouring to mumelie and Aquelven. More like mumelie. Hair is light ash brown, skin pale olive (always take the palest or second palest 'yellow' based foundation but tan easily) and have fairly dark bright blue eyes. I have 9 * colours and 8 but I'm sure that part is at least partly subjective. One consultant could decide 2 stars and another only 1 - I imagine the relative strength of ratings of the colours should be the same though. Anyway, my doubles are tan, tangerine, coral, geranium, flamingo pink, Kerry green, corn yellow, turquoise and aquamarine. Can't see much of a pattern there, personally, so I think I'm a hotch potch spring Grin!

V curious to see what Joycey's style type is Wink...

Feeling hard done by! I only have 8 ** colours Sad.
Light dove grey, oxford blue, geranium, flamingo pink, mint green, hyacinth, aqua and turquoise.

My skin is really pale peachy with freckles, (reddens very easily), eyes are blue grey and hair is currently blonde with caramel to warm it a bit and add some depth (naturally now grey!) Blue spring here!

Aquelven · 10/11/2013 19:28

I only have 8 ** colours at 100% too, butterflies Sad

Mine are..
Dove Grey, Oxford Blue, Leaf Green, Violet, Hyacinth, Aqua, Turquoise & Aquamarine.
So mine are all blue/ violet/turquoise apart from grey & one green, which is a bit limiting really.
I've got just four ** colours at 75% too, Navy, Bright Blue ( so blues again) plus coral & poppy.

cardoon · 10/11/2013 19:50

7** for me, bright spring, stingy consultant

tangerine
coral
terracotta
geranium
kerry green
aqua
aquamarine

BeginnerSAHM · 10/11/2013 20:25

Not sure what happened to my post further down but the first list was my double star colours! I think a stingy consultant might be a good thing though.... So you know what colours really are amazing on you? Wink

OP posts:
ebaymad · 10/11/2013 20:28

Wouldn't the 50% stars be the most used though?

I rarely go out top to toe in one colour...Grin

butterfliesandflowers · 10/11/2013 20:28

Gosh Aque you must be as blue as you can get!

I have 5 ** at 75%, dove grey, chocolate, bright navy, cream and poppy

butterfliesandflowers · 10/11/2013 20:31

I'm sorry ebay, I haven't congratulated you on your Golden Spring - you're the first one I've heard of, how did your wardrobe sort go?

ebaymad · 10/11/2013 20:37

It never happened Sad

Decided to go and visit a friend and her week old baby twins Grin

Wouldn't give me one though, seriously, who needs two! Hmm Grin

butterfliesandflowers · 10/11/2013 20:59

a treat for another time Grin! Do you think your clothes are mainly compliant? what about jewellery ?

BeginnerSAHM · 10/11/2013 21:00

Awhhhhh! Week old twins. Lovely but yikes....

Yup - agree, i rarely (never?!) go out top to toe in one colour Wink. However, if they are double star at 100%, I assume they are amazing as tops or scarves near your face. More amazing than double stars at 50% even. I dunno. I may be over-thinking this....Wink

OP posts:
Aquelven · 10/11/2013 21:00

Gosh Aque you must be as blue as you can get

Well, looks like I picked an apt moniker for on here eh? Even though I did it long before I'd been HoC'd Grin

Now, is it just coincidence that I was also born on a Wednesday?...."Wednesday's Child is full of woe" (ie the blues) Confused Sad

Aquelven · 10/11/2013 21:02

Oh, week old twins, how lovely....poor girl though, bet she's knackered!

Mumelie · 10/11/2013 21:12

Oh week old twins! They must be a lovely handful? !
Sure the wardrobe sorting can wait eBay. I spilt mine to correct colours one side, incorrect the other - then saw what I wore the most of (surprise surprise it was the correct colours). 6 months on its all correct colours and I wear pretty much all of it.
I'm not too good on remembering my 75% colours - I just know that tan was possibly the one to most avoid - I only use it for shoes and accessories.

ebaymad · 10/11/2013 21:18

Not very compliant no, I don't think it goes together very well at all.

I'd be buggered if I had to do a capsule wardrobe! It wouldn't be very spring like.

Most of my jewellery is gold coloured though, i saw that silver didn't suit me but it's not really chunky, I don't think chunk suits me.

I think you're right BeginnerSAHM and I'm glad to hear that. I'm looking at my ticks and stars too much and taking it all too literally.

I remember he said that some colours were good but not to have them too close to the face, do you think they are the one star ones or the two ticks?

butterfliesandflowers · 10/11/2013 21:23

I think the ones to nit put next to your face are the 25% ones? (anyone who knows better feel free to correct me)

butterfliesandflowers · 10/11/2013 21:26

I also have one marked BW - below waist only

ebaymad · 10/11/2013 21:29

I think it might be the one stars 100% colours, they are the very bright ones in my book and I'm I remember those colours.

Could be I've come home with baby brain though Confused

ebaymad · 10/11/2013 21:30

Yea me too butterflies - Dove Grey

Tell that to about 5 Grey sweatshirts in the wardrobe Wink

Aquelven · 10/11/2013 21:36

My consultant said use the 25% colours as accessories

shopalot · 10/11/2013 21:42

Beginnerstayathomemum - I remember earlier in the thread that we were the same as in "spring" (I was a clear spring CMB- years ago) I have lost
my wallet -not proper lost -just misplaced. So can you answer a quick question- can I wear camel??? I am about to purchase a coat and fancy camel but I'm not sure. TIA
