HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

I'm an Ing who doesn't have a frill or flower in her whole wardrobe (but does love them!)

butterfliesandflowers · 07/11/2013 11:38

I do have lots of flowers, but not too many frills, I think they would add bulk and I'm already bulky, but I do totally love lace, a lot!

BeginnerSAHM · 07/11/2013 12:10

Ooh - weeeell, I like lace a bit too... Have a lovely navy jumper with lace shoulders (v slightly sexy) and two plain cream lace/silk shell tops to go under suits or for going out with skinny jeans. Love a bit of (subtle) cabbages and roses for curtain material too! Gah! Don't want to wait a week to find out!! Wink

I will not ever never wear tea dresses though. (Bad English is Charlie and Lola inspired. Clearly been reading too much of it.)

Beginner are you really into accessories? Do you always wear make up?

BeginnerSAHM · 07/11/2013 13:14

Not really! I wear tinted moisturiser, blusher and mascara.... Like accessories but don't wear many! (Thanks for trying to guess though! Wink)

Lurrve tea dresses, really lurrve tea dresses!

BeginnerSAHM · 07/11/2013 19:39

Makes sense for a romantic ingenue! I just feel silly in them but agree they look gorgeous on lots of people Grin.

p.s. the tinted moisturiser i use is often Laura mercier (although garnier bb cream at the mo), blusher is always Nars orgasm (yes, it has a few sparkles in...) and often buy posh mascara too. So not exactly 'not bothered' by make-up - quite like it but just don't like to put too much on. And wear some sparkly bronze eyeshadow (not too much!) and a slick of black eyeliner plus lipgloss on a night out.

And have tons and tons of unused expensive 'products' in a big cupboard in the spare room Blush. To my shame...

So I am quite girly really!

Beginner what's your favourite daytime look and a typical going out look for you?

BeginnerSAHM · 07/11/2013 20:20

Hi Gillybobs!

Favourite daytime look is skinny jeans, thin sloppy jumper (neutral
colour - cream, navy or grey) with a thin gold necklace maybe and my tan biker boots OR v casual day dress (jumper dress or Breton-ish loose one) with thick tights and biker boots (plus thin gold necklace). Tan belt normally.

Favourite evening look is, err, indigo skinnies and heels (shoe boots or pointy courts in a funky colour) and a loose silk top or something with some shine/sparkle - cream or a springy green or maybe coral (although feel happiest in greens and blues). Plus a long gold pendant with a crystal and tassel if the top is plain. (Sounds grim but it's day birger and quite nice!)

Shall I cancel my style day on the 14th now WinkGrin?

Loving this!!
I am so excited now. Grin
Skinny jeans and boots suit me but live in Boden shift dresses for work (not the rugby bit!) I like accessories but tend to choose to wear more sentimental jewellery though I hanker after more chunky stuff.
So on this thread we have......

Mumelie · 08/11/2013 14:43

Oh this is exciting, cant wait to find out what you turn out to be!

I've had a bit of a Boden splurge this week, picking up this jumper in bright red, cardigan in purple and skinnies in dark navy. Was in desperate need of casual warm clothes, and love the red jumper soooo much.
Today I'm wearing a navy dress, navy cropped cardi, tan Bertie boots and HoC coral lippie.
So glad work is over for the week and have a nice quiet weekend ahead of me - with some serious wardrobe sorting and eBay listing Grin.

ebaymad · 08/11/2013 15:11

Hi again!

I'm having my colours done tomorrow finally. will be very surprised if i'm not a spring.

Not looking forward to arriving with no make-up on, but i'll survive!

I'm definitely going to be the oldest one there out of my group, the other two are a 12 and 14 year old.

I would never have thought of getting my 13 year old daughters colours done, although her colouring and hair colour is the same as mine Grin

It's a man doing the colours, which is unusual i think. Really looking forward to it!

Is it really worth going for the style day?
I mean i have so many different styles depending on how i feel.
jeans one day, dresses the next.

what do they actually do? do they tell you what suits you better?

Apologies if this question has actually been answered before Smile

Gillybobs · 08/11/2013 15:52

Have a great day tomorrow :-) the style day helps you figure out which tops, which dresses, which jeans, which shoes etc, it's not about finding one look that you wear endlessly, it's about finding lots of looks that suit your shape and personality and helping you understand the reason why certain things work well and others just don't.
It's honestly so worthwhile , puts an end to things hanging in your wardrobe unworn and unloved but you can't figure out why

Gillybobs · 08/11/2013 15:55

Meant to say, they measure loads of different parts of your body to figure out your proportions and shapes (really fascinating btw) & you also do a questionnaire on the yin and yang aspects of your personality. So interesting

Aquelven · 08/11/2013 15:58

Have a great day tomorrow!
Please come & tell us what you learn.

Aqua, blue spring, no idea what style yet.
