HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

A lipstick to try without breaking the bank!
Bought it today in Superdrug. MUA colour 12, a corally, pinky red, not orange but quite warm & bright. Only £1 Grin
On top of that all make up in Superdrug is on 3 for 2 at the moment, so I got two lipsticks ( both the same as they didn't have many colours left in my branch) & an eyeshadow for £2. Bargain or what?
It doesn't taste vile either like lots of cheapies & worn it most of today & it's still there!

ebaymad · 08/11/2013 16:29

Thanks *Gillybobs" - That's very interesting. I have absolutely no idea what style i would be!

I will definitely come back and tell you all about it, i haven't told anybody else about, not sure they'd understand Grin

Although I can really see my mum doing it, she has a load of clothes but never seems to have anything to wear. Might help her with her obsession with cardigans too...

I may have to pop into Superdrugs tomorrow Aquelven, those lipsticks sound ideal and I don't seem to have many lipsticks.

What are the HOC lipsticks like? I have a great lipstick from Kate Moss's range for rimmel, it's a great colour, really makes my eyes "pop" (ow) but it dries my lips out so much i can't use it any more.

butterfliesandflowers · 08/11/2013 16:40

The HoC lippies are really drying too, great colours and may be brighter than you would normally consider, once you know what season you are and where you are in that season (ie your best colours), I'm sure there will be lots of suggestions for nice lipstick. (I for one would love a really nice red!)

ebaymad · 08/11/2013 16:47

Saved myself £15 there then Wink.

I'd like to get a blusher though. I would be happy to get the right colour blush, i just slap on any old pink.

Hopefully I'll be back here tomorrow as a fully fledged HOC spring!

Aquelven · 08/11/2013 19:33

They match the blusher colour to your ears Grin

ebaymad · 08/11/2013 19:51

Hope it's not too cold then or I risk going home looking like Aunt Sally Wink

butterfliesandflowers · 08/11/2013 20:59

oh and once you have been House of Coloured you get discount on their prices!

Aquelven · 08/11/2013 23:23

You get discount on HoC online if you put on your consultants reference.

RipMacWinkle · 09/11/2013 10:24

Have a lovely time today ebaymad

ebaymad · 09/11/2013 17:31

Woooohoooo! I'm a Spring - a Golden Spring!

I had such a great day and learned so much.

My colours seem more muted than bright, although some brights like the Green, Blue and Red looked good.

Brian (who did the analysis) really knew his stuff, I am in awe Grin.

Definitely going to book in for a style day after Xmas.

I would never have known to wear peachy blusher and not pink like i have been for years, I of course bought one.

I popped into superdrugs and bought 3 lipsticks also. Thanks for that tip Aquevelven .

My wardrobe is a disaster, i need to win the lotto and start all over again

Mumelie · 09/11/2013 17:47

Brilliant news ebaymad you can stay after all Wink.
A golden Spring sounds quite rare - so what were your ** colours and what was the worst ones?
I bought a HoC blusher back in May and even though I use it every day its still got loads left. Did he recommend any of their lipsticks?
Oh so exciting, style day planned just right for January sales!

cardoon · 09/11/2013 18:06

oooh, golden spring was mentioned - as in 'a touch of' - at my reading (?). I feel so excited for you - it's infectious....Grin

ebaymad · 09/11/2013 18:10

Thanks Mumelle, I'm glad I can stay Smile

I have 14 colours at 100% with **, they seem to go over a range of colours.

Oxford Blue, Tan, Cinnamon, Tangerine, Coral, Terracotta, Flamingo Pink, Kerry Green, Corn Yellow, Violet, Bright Blue, Turquoise, Aquamarine and chocolate.

The Dove Grey didn't seem to do much for me.

I'm still trying to get my head around all the ticks and stars.

Would never have thought of wearing a Banana sundress but yellow surprised me more than any other colour.

He did recommend some lipsticks - Brick, Smooth Soft Coral and Flamingo Pink, also an Apricot lipgloss.

The blusher i bought was called Naturally Warm.

ebaymad · 09/11/2013 18:12

I love it!

I wanna tell everybody i know, so we can all go shopping with our wallets and our book of ticks and stars Smile

Mumelie · 09/11/2013 18:29

My every day lippie is the Smooth Soft Coral - really love it (wish it wasn't so drying though).

Interesting range of colours as your double stars - right across the board. I still cant get my head around the stars and ticks either! I have labelled the colours in my wallet with the name and rating to help when I shop (I only get it out in the changing room mind) Wink

Gillybobs · 09/11/2013 18:34

Congrats and glad you are staying. I think that's like a warm spring in other systems, your two stars do sound mostly the warmest colours. Lush.

You need to try mac Crosswires lippy! gorgeous warm coral! bet it would look amazing on you.

For your wardrobe I think many of us found buying a couple of tops and a scarf a great way to start the process.

cardoon · 09/11/2013 18:56

Try a touch of this before applying your lipstick Mumelie

jumpinghoops · 09/11/2013 19:36

Great news ebay, really glad we have another spring recruit, and one we can play guess the style with!

The colours day gave me such a buzz, I did a small skip on my way out Smile If you're going to do the style day soon maybe just get a few things to celebrate your lovely springiness before then. I say this as someone with a wardrobe full of spring coloured clothes that I didn't want to wear as the style of them wasn't quite right for me.

Mumelie, I am going to become your fashion stalker! Love the Audrey jumper and dandelion dress.

Fooogle · 09/11/2013 19:45

Oo ebaymad that's so exciting. Best you'll be on a high all evening. Have a feeling I may be a golden spring too so I ll watch your purchasing and discoveries ( especially your lippies!) with interest before I have my 'rerate' session. I too seem to pull off a yellow...

Mumelie · 09/11/2013 19:51

Thanks cardoon I'll try that - vaseline just doesn't cut it and I've a serious flake on at this time of year!
Thank you too jumping - I had lots of compliments on the dress at work yesterday. Not worn the jumper as yet as been down the stables with DD all day. Straw and mud - not very Spring like Wink Probably why I have problems with flakey dry lips!

I'd be really interested in finding out what hair colour all you Springs have (esp Blue springs). I'm always changing mine - currently I have shoulder length layers with a blunt fringe - kind of ombre with light neutral brown going to mid ash blonde. It was a light honey blonde when I had my colours done and didn't suit me at all.

Joycey29 · 09/11/2013 20:28

Wow we seem to be a mix of mainly classic- ingenue - naturals!
No dramatics!
Quite fancy being a dramatic gamine but am more likely to be a natural romantic!
One week today and I'll know!!Wine

Aquelven · 09/11/2013 21:23

Great news ebay, glad you're a spring & can stay with us Smile
Wow! 14 two star colours at 100% !!! I don't have anywhere near that many. How many do the rest of you have? I'll count mine when I go & root out my booklet from upstairs.
I can understand how excited you felt. I was the same when I came out....thought YES!!! Now I understand why some colours make me feel great & others make me feel depressed all day. That Soft Smooth Coral is one of my lippies too.
I hadn't heard of a Golden Spring, it sounds lovely, all sunshiny.

Hair colour. Well I'm a Blue Spring. My hair colour is my own, I don't colour it. It's very, very light blonde, so light it looks virtually white, my mum used to call it flaxen. It's shoulder length, not straight, wavy but curls up at the ends & I have a fringe which I have to straighten or it curls up at the ends like the longer part does.

ebaymad · 09/11/2013 22:31

That's a good idea mumelle.

What do you do if you see a nice top and want to check it's one of your colours? Would you queue for the changing room or just get your wallet out?

I have a picture in my mind of just flipping out my colours and strolling around with it Wink

That lipstick is now on my list, thanks Gillybobs

It was exciting foogle, nice to be thinking about something different and discovering something new about yourself, makes a nice change from the mundane...

Haha jumpinghoops even I couldn't guess my style! Sometimes I think I buy clothes for another person...

I am sunshiny Aquevelven Wink

It may be because my hair is very warm - strawberry blonde. I have a warm (cough pink) face too and very blue eyes.

Thanks for a great welcome Smile

jumpinghoops · 09/11/2013 23:03

'Sometimes I think I buy clothes for another person'... This is exactly why you need to do the style day Grin

Joycey, am sticking by my stab in the dark that you're a natural dramatic (the dramatic bit because of what you've said about bone structure and a hankering for bolder jewellery).

Mumelie · 09/11/2013 23:21

Ebaymad - you get to kind of know roughly your colours - I try every thing on before I buy anyway. No good at guessing if it'll fit me or not Wink
