HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Thanks Aqua Smile

After a bit of Googling about Blue Spring (which just bought me back to mn), i think you could be right.

I am very pale with freckles, although have very few on my face. similar colouring to Nicole Kidman i think.

Definitely going to get my colours done soon, I'm becoming obsessed with colours!

HOC the best?

Blue Spring Colours here

Hope this link works, it's my first...

I wanna be a Blue Spring now Grin

ebaymad · 30/09/2013 19:21

Yay! check me and my first link out!

Mumelie · 30/09/2013 21:13

Isn't it weird how different we are but yet come out as Blue Spring?! I'm one but much darker - my hair is naturally a medium ash brown (dead mouse) and I have medium tone sallow skin with dark green eyes. I tend towards neutral colouring and couldn't diagnose myself at all. My consultant initially thought winter (which shocked me) - but it turned out I'm blue spring too.
Love the look of the Woolovers site - is their knitwear hard wearing? I seem to get jumpers to only last a season before they look dreadful (no matter what price).

Aquelven · 30/09/2013 21:49

The stuff I've had from them has worn well. Only began to buy from them last winter but the things still look like new.

It is funny, isn't it? I suppose we must be the ones that are not as obviously warm as other springs, bit more neutral however light or dark.

Fooogle · 30/09/2013 22:08

I know friends who also rate woolovers. May place an order and see. Is it free returns do you know Aquelven?

Mumelie · 30/09/2013 22:20

mmm might give them a try then. Think I just saw a Woolovers code thread earlier.

Aquelven · 30/09/2013 22:40

Sorry, don't know if free returns. I've never wanted to return anything! Smile

Evening all! Long day at work!
Welcome newbies, so nice to have you.
Teal top and tights and navy dress worked well as impressed Ofsted! Hopefully not just with my clothes but I felt more confident.
Now to bed.
Remember, lippy & scarves on coz it's Tuesday tomorrow!

BeginnerSAHM · 01/10/2013 11:57

Hi all,

Yes, welcome newbies!

Still haven't cracked the lippy (as feel conspicuous wearing red lippy with jeans and converse) but am wearing spring-ish top. Teal silky short sleeve top with cream polka dots over dark beige/grey (is that a colour?) long sleeve t-shirt. It's shiny and have been told that is good for me...Confused. Oh, and indigo skinnies (uniqlo - love 'em, £7.60!!) and grey slim converse.

Need to sort out wardrobe again. It's a mess and not feeling inspired...

Hope everybody's having a good day!

Morning all, interesting observation yesterday, even though I look a bit shiny and disheveled in the holiday snaps (I'm no good in the heat) wearing my proper colors has made such a difference in the photos. Was in navy shorts, red drapey vest top and turquoise lola rose beads yesterday and instead of looking at my crazy fluffy humid hair I'm looking at my eyes in the pic.....this colours thing works you know!!! :-)

alemci · 01/10/2013 13:57

I got this scarf from M&S. Thought it had a good selection of spring colours. is it right?

hope this works. never done it on android

Aquelven · 01/10/2013 14:56

That looks very Spring & bright Smile
You were very Sherlock to spot that! I looked through their scarves & though they had lots I loved they were all Autumn or Winter colours. There are so few around for us at the moment, ah well, saving me money.

Joycey29 · 01/10/2013 19:43

Great Spring scarf!Envy
I ve gone from having none to having 8 all in three months.
So am also happy that there is not huge temptation around for me!

Fooogle · 01/10/2013 20:19

Lovely scarf.
Just eyeing up the coral boden one as now a bit reduced til midnight...
My HoC lippies arrived today. Bit unsure of them. They feel very full on; probably why they were reduced!
I'm waiting to hear back from Jane fardon for some more colour ideas (they ask you to send a pic and then recommend)...
Anyone convince me about runway coral Clinique?

alemci · 01/10/2013 20:22

thanks I used the 20% offer last week so very pleased.

ebaymad · 01/10/2013 20:47

I'm getting diagnosed this month, really looking forward to officially becoming a spring.

I have some great tops from J.Crew, i really rate their colours and the quality is also very good.

I have this but mine is more neon

Also, I'm looking for a new scarf to go with my new coat which i got from M&S and is no longer on the website. It's black and white stripes but looks quite grey.
I was thinking of http://www.cosstores.com/Shop/Women/Accessories/Cashmere_scarf/7433-245987.1#8535907 this or this.

Obviously will not be buying until i'm officially diagnosed as a spring Grin, or until my birthday, as they are so bloody expensive so i don't want to get it wrong.

Can you think of any colours that would go with the coat?

ebaymad · 01/10/2013 20:49

this Hmm

ebaymad · 01/10/2013 20:51

The coat

Fooogle · 01/10/2013 23:24

That's a nice coat ebaymad. I'd like to get a new one though prob ll have to get a darker colour due to little people wiping things on me and the like!
Red would be nice but a good coral'd be awesome I reckon... Will keep eyes peeled.

Aquelven · 01/10/2013 23:38

That coat is lovely. Any Spring colour would go with it wouldn't it?

Can you knit?
£59 for a woollen scarf seems an absolute rip off to me when there are so many gorgeous yarns in the wool shops. Pure wool, cashmere mixes & every colour you could possibly dream of. A couple of balls would make a scarf & even the most luxurious, expensive yarns are, at most, around £7 a ball. Scarves are the easiest thing to learn to make, no shaping, just cast on & keep going to the length you want.

BeginnerSAHM · 02/10/2013 08:18

Can you knit aquavelen? I went to a beginners' course once but didn't practice so forgot it all.... But i suppose i could try again! In all my spare time Wink.

Right - going to have a wardrobe clear out today if people don't need me for work. (Doing a short term consultancy thing so work is sporadic!).

I definitely have moths that have ruined a lot of jumpers Hmm. I also read on the good housekeeping thread that you shouldn't put once-worn clothes away in drawers/the wardrobe, even if they are not at all dirty ShockShock. It's the way to avoid moths apparently. That means i'd have to leave them out on hangers (or something) and therefore wear the same cardigan/jumper/jeans for days on end without varying my outfit. Does anybody else do this? Just wondering!
