HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

Just back from accompanying my sister to her HoC consultation. She turned out to be a blue spring too - not altogether unsurprising. Have to say I far preferred her consultant to mine (we live in different areas)! It was such fun. I had my consultation on my own and although she was thorough I think I got more out of today.

Gillybobs · 20/09/2013 15:28

I agree it's much better to see others being"done" , for some reason we seem to be able to see it on others more easily. I had my style day with a group of friends and can honestly say it was one of the most interesting and fun days out ever.

So your sister can benefit from all your springy knowledge then!

Outfit for today is navy shift dress, navy tights, grey snakeskin MJ shoes, cream and gold statement necklace

Aquelven · 20/09/2013 16:02

Love both those pairs of boots, Beginner.
Grin the colour coded nose, hope you soon feel better.

I bought these today
www.marksandspencer.com/Footglove-Leather-Ruched-Chelsea-Boots/dp/B00CXD3ZIQ?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_64&nodeId=2985161031&sr=1-64&qid=1379688840
Not pretending they are the most stylish of boots but they were the only ones I could get my swollen foot in comfortably. They are super soft leather & comfy. Also bought some slippers, not lam but useful.
I had the cast off my foot yesterday & the pins pulled out ( ouch Sad ) so now I'm free & can get my life back. But can't get into any of my shoes yet, except an ancient pair of Birkies, hence the shopping for useful shoes/boots.
Next, need to blitz the wardrobe & see what I've got in the right colours Grin
Wools, that must have been good, getting another stab at seeing " your" colours explained again. Where your sister's star colours exactly the same as yours?

wools · 20/09/2013 17:49

Aquelven - yes pretty much the same colours as me although she suits the greens a lot more than I do.

V. jealous of all these lovely boots.

Gillybobs - that sounds like a very chic outfit - I love navy.

Joycey29 · 20/09/2013 22:26

Evening all,
Been flat out today and not sure I cracked my colours well. Grey/blue trousers, French navy top and green scarf.
Think I looked better in my games kit!

Mumelie · 21/09/2013 08:08

Morning Springs!
So since finding out I'm a Blue Spring last May I've been having lots of fun building a summer wardrobe. I spent this week getting out my autumn winter clothes as it's getting a bit chilly now. Oh my what a depressing sight! Lots of black, charcoal, burgundy (eek!), mustard and murky greens! Looking in the shops I can't see much different.

Think I can salvage a work wardrobe putting bright cardis over the charcoal grey and possibly black. It's casual I am going to struggle with.
I like to wear skinnies with tunics, blouses or longer sweaters. Have any of you seen any lovely bright but suitable for cold weather tops? I love leaf Green, reds and the blues from our palette. I'm a size 12 but need to deal with a large chest (matron! ).
I have ordered some navy coated skinnies from New Look so hope they can replace my black ones for evenings. I'd like some dove grey ankle boots to go with them but must be slim on the ankle (my only thin bit). Any recommendations? Up to maybe £80.
Thanks loads if you have any ideas. I can't stand the winter in all these dark colours now I've seen the light! Grin

Gillybobs · 21/09/2013 08:42

I cope with cold weather by buying long sleeved thermal tops from m and s then wearing them under normal blouses or tops

Boden have some brilliant bright knitwear and there's a 20pc off code MCES. Some nice springy tops too, I've bought two of these

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Tops-T-shirts/3_4-Sleeved-Tops/WA450/Womens-Hampstead-Top.html?NavGroupID=18

Mumelie · 21/09/2013 09:03

Great tops Thanks Gillybobs. I have a 'pending' Boden order so will add those and that code to that
Thermals - yes I so need those. My work place is freezing!

wools · 21/09/2013 09:10

Love the sound of navy coated skinnies and dove grey ankle boots Mumelie, Agree with Gillybobs regarding thermals underneath thinner tops. Uniqlo heattech or M&S sell them.

Mumelie · 21/09/2013 09:18

Ok think I've finally found the boots after weeks of searching (why I hadn't seen these before I'll never know). Try and do link from my phone [ www.clarks.co.uk/p/20355418]. Have the 20% off code too so a good price. Grin

Mumelie · 21/09/2013 09:18

That was rubbish - can anyone do the link for me? Wink

BeginnerSAHM · 21/09/2013 16:32

Mumelie - tricky on iPhone but you need to do double square brackets at start and end!!

Just picked up a few new things from the kin range in John Lewis, great match for our darkest aquamarine swatch

www.johnlewis.com/shop-by-brand-/kin-by-john-lewis/women/blue=basiccolor-women-6000007316/c5000060018?facetSearchRequest=true

Aquelven · 21/09/2013 17:54

Kin...Wow! A brand with nice things in our colours, rarer than hen's teeth in the shops at the moment.
I got so fed up of looking for some warm, bright jumpers that I've got my knitting needles out. At least yarn shops are a riot of colour.

I dread getting my winter stuff out from where it's stuffed in bin bags as I know it will be wall to wall black, dark grey, burgundy........ Confused

Joycey29 · 22/09/2013 09:51

Loving Kin! Going to look properly after pay day Grin

Mumelie · 22/09/2013 09:58

Oh I am liking that Kin brand - thanks for that - roll on payday!
Thanks Beginner - I couldn't find instructions and was trying to remember how to do it! Will try again
http://www.clarks.co.uk/p/20355418 these Wink

BeginnerSAHM · 22/09/2013 10:44

Mumelie - try no space after the double square brackets...! Rest looks right Wink.

Mumelie · 22/09/2013 10:55

lol I give up!

BeginnerSAHM · 23/09/2013 16:15

Afternoon springs! How is everybody today? Just a bit of a bump as I don't want this thread to die.... And I was wondering what people are wearing.

I'm in my normal SAHM scruffy gear. Straight 3 year old blue jeans (posh Selfridges brand), grey converse, tomato red (geranium/poppy?) whistles thin jumper boxy with pockets at the front.

No lippy and no jewellery! And no scarf.

Mumelie · 23/09/2013 19:47

Bumpity bump here too Grin
My New Look navy coated skinnies arrived today - they are going straight back though - even going a size up they were tiny, and hipster and much much thinner than the black pair (yes, bad bad I know). So black it is Blush.
Today I've been at work and wearing a Pepperberry teal dress with a Navy Joules cardigan, navy tights and charcoal shoe boots. Felt a bit bluegh today (end of a cold) so didnt wear lippy or much jewelry either.
Am now on my PC so can link to THE boots Wink - here goes;
these

Aquelven · 23/09/2013 20:28

That's a shame about the skinnies. Those boots are a lovely colour.
I bought a couple of these today, for layering. There's a decent selection of colours
www.marksandspencer.com/Collection-Longline-T-Shirt-Modal/dp/B002F74N2M?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_9&nodeId=43074030&sr=1-9&qid=1379964235&pf_rd_r=15ZD8XM217W0SFD4MB00&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=321381407&pf_rd_s=center-3

Today I'm wearing a striped top in two shades of blue, black jeans, teal cardigan, silver & turquoise big necklace. Shoes don't count as I can only get in a couple of pair yet.

Joycey29 · 23/09/2013 21:06

Evening all! Just home from work- shattered!
Love the colour of those boots and style. Great find!

Today I was wearing my salmon pink shirt dress, navy tights and navy boots!
No lippy til the evening and then put it on for the parent's evening.
No jewellery!

Right - more effort needed by us all! We are getting lax! Scarves and lippy at the ready - Tuesday won't know what hit it!

alemci · 23/09/2013 21:41
