HoC Spring thread....

BeginnerSAHM · 12/08/2013 19:00

This is a thread for all of us who have had their colours done' by House of Colour and are a Spring. (And 'believe' in it...Wink.) Or, by CMB and are 'clear and warm'. Think a few other CMB catergories might be spring too - 'soft and warm' maybe/' warm and clear' (different from 'clear and warm' because of the order of priorities/dominance...)?

Feel free to ask any Spring-related fashion/make-up/style questions on this thread.... (I won't know the answer but lots of people on these boards will!)

So, I'll start with a 'spring' question.... I never wear lipstick. I occasionally wear neutral-ish lipgloss on a night out but never reapply during the evening so it's always gone within the first 20 mins. I know as a spring, I 'should'. Can anybody suggest a Revlon lip butter that is springish? I gather they are more sheer than full lipstick so might be a good way for me to start trying lip colour out! Thank you

I got a teal & a greenish aqua that doesn't seem to be on the website, I got them in store. I also bought a scoop necked jumper in the exact purple off our swatches.
Got this lipstick too in Tickle, a glossy orangey coral, with the £3 off coupon

alemci · 23/09/2013 22:29

yes thanks

I looked at your link and thought to myself the colours shown didn't look spring but then it may be me or colour repro online. Smile Smile

BeginnerSAHM · 23/09/2013 22:31

Love the boots mumelie!! It was worth waiting for the link Wink!

Joycey - loving the idea of loads of 'properly' dressed mumsnet 'springs' hitting Tuesday Shock...

Good layering tops Aquelven - and reasonably priced! Might have to follow suit there.

Lipstick... Really? Do I HAVE to? Feel a bit weird in the bright red one in the day (although love it at night now) and i look odd in corally ones. I have quite dark lips (apparently) and most 'natural' looking lipsticks are lighter colour - and therefore seem to look weird.

Love the neckline on those M&S t shirts Aquelven - will check them out. Gorgeous boots Mumelie - fab colour . Today I wore black ( v, naughty) cigarette pants, bright pink crew neck jumper, leopard print scarf and taupe ballet pumps,

Joycey29 · 24/09/2013 07:08

It's Tuesday!
Scarves and lippy are go! Grin

wools · 24/09/2013 08:01

Yes I've got my lippy and scarf on to jazz up my navy jumper and jeans,

Mumelie · 25/09/2013 09:25

The boots arrived - they are going back Sad Didn't realise they would be shiny metallic silver! disco boots! Not my thing at all. The search continues. .......
Today I'm wearing a bright navy dress phase eight, Dove grey Cardi boden, charcoal lacey tights and my faithful charcoal shoe boots from Clarks. Lippy is on Grin

BeginnerSAHM · 25/09/2013 10:16

Oh no.... Sorry about the boots mumelie... Outfit sounds lovely though!

Today I'm wearing ecru (! Cream really) and navy striped 'skater' dress (ganni), black opaques, black brogue ankle boots (whistles - old), sea green butterfly scarf (Oliver bonas). No lippy Shock - had bit of red lip gloss (bobbi brown 'sailor') on but it's worn off now... Will see what I can find in superdrug shortly (as will be near one)!

I'm in a red short sleeved polo neck jumper and grey herringbone trousers with snakeskin shoes. Forgot the scarf this morning but have on my lovely new lippy (thanks Beginner) as I find wearing a bright red too much when I am wearing red.

Anyone looking for casual trousers? i got a pair of Gap skinny cords at the weekend in tan - a great fit which is very unusual for me and they were reduced to £29.95 - I think the offer is on until 30th. Got some fab bright coral ones for DD too!

I was wondering does anyone else end up with more than 3 colours some days when you take account of shoes etc? Yesterday I was wearing a patterned dress that was sort of taupe with blue and pink, turquoise pumps and my red raincoat and did wonder if it was too much??

wools · 25/09/2013 14:55

I rarely go more than 3 colours Birdy. Today am wearing white skinnies with navy silk shirt, tan ash spiral boots and tan belt. Am of course sporting my lippy too.

BirdyBedtime · 25/09/2013 15:43

That sounds very chic wools. I'd love to have the figure for white on my bum ......

alemci · 25/09/2013 19:43

went to john lewis and bought top in a bright turquoise. most colours muted.

bought jacket but dark navy from H&M. Don't like jackets but needed for interview, reasonable price but dh said it looked bunchy?Confused

jumpinghoops · 25/09/2013 20:50

Mumelie, have you looked at Mint Velvet boots? Quite a selection of different grey ones (unsurprisingly for MV!),I think there is a 15% code knocking around somewhere.

jumpinghoops · 25/09/2013 20:53

Who recommended Clinique Runway Coral lippie by the way?! Thanks to whoever it was, it's taken over from MAC Crosswires as my fave lippie. I now have 13 bright lipsticks Blush. Need to move onto sorting out the clothes I think!

Mumelie · 25/09/2013 21:42

Oh thanks Jumping some of those Mint Velvet boots look lovely. I've just ordered these boots from Boden in grey - 5 weeks delay - not sure I can wait though.

Gillybobs · 26/09/2013 01:39

Oh I was raving about Runway Coral recently, glad you like it too
Just arrived in Florida so will spend next two weeks trying not to look like a springy burst couch ; )

evelynj · 26/09/2013 09:18

Well, it's with a heavy heart I must say goodbye and leave. I've been diagnosed as an autumn so off to their thread, (like this one much better but sshh, don't tell them ;))

Looking through my wardrobe I have mostly winter & spring colours so lot of organising & shopping to be done!

BeginnerSAHM · 26/09/2013 10:22

Ah, bye-bye Evelyn!! Have fun with the autumn lot! Hope you 'got it' and saw the colours working... Bet there are a few winter and spring colours that are ok if you wear them with autumn scarves/t-shirts etc. good luck!!

BirdyBedtime · 26/09/2013 13:25

HI Gillybobs - hope your hol is fab (said with great jealousy as she sits shivering at her desk in chilly Scotland!!).

I'm going to have to go into John Lewis and have a look at the Runway Coral lippie as you're all raving about it Smile

So what is everyone else sporting today? I'm in a rusty coloured wrap dress and yellow cardi. Got a complement in the kitchen at work today and told I was looking autumnal Hmm but I think the colour (which is 19 in our swatches) is also very close to an autumn colour so think that is ok.

jumpinghoops · 26/09/2013 13:39

Love those boots Mumelie, I've been eyeing them up in the leopard.

Birdy, that colour always, always attracts positive comments when I wear it even though it's not marked as one of my best. I plan on picking up a top or dress in it if I can find some this autumn.

Evelyn- what a great time of year to find out you're an autumn! Have fun shopping!

I am wearing possibly the most boring outfit ever. Boyfriend jeans that are so loose they're practically falling down and a red/cream stripy top. My daughter said to me yesterday 'mummy, you need to get dressed. Go and put your jeans and stripy top on'. Blush- def in need of a wardrobe upgrade soon!!

Have a lovely holiday Gilly, it sounds like you got some stylish springy summer pieces for it.

Gillybobs · 26/09/2013 13:41

Birdy, we left chilly Scotland yesterday to fly here so you have my empathy!
It's great to get a chance to wear some low maintenance summer outfits, navy and cream stripe sundress today, gold sandals and cross body bag, turquoise Lola rose beads, sweaty shiny face to match : )

jumpinghoops · 26/09/2013 13:45

Beginner was it you that was looking at these Dune boots? They have 20% off until midnight tomorrow.

BeginnerSAHM · 26/09/2013 14:19

Oooh- thanks jumpinghoops!!GrinGrin

I think they are better than Ugg Kensingtons, which were the latest pair I was consideringBlush. (Brown ones and kids' so 'only' £120...)

I feel a purchase coming on!!

BeginnerSAHM · 26/09/2013 14:23

Gillybobs - I love summer dressing!! So much easier Wink. Bet you look great - gold sandals sound gorgeous.

I'm going to have to try runway coral then too - the salli Hughes review says it's quite neutral (not too warm) so doesn't make your teeth look yellow, which sounds good to me. She also rates a sheer Tom ford one (v pricey) so might have to try that ok too. So far, only happy with red lippy!

Cardoon - will send you a couple of others as the mac one failed to arrive Blush....!
