Back at the hotel for a break before we go to Little Italy.

santa what a lovely story! I wanted to go into the shop but I think DH had enough of shopping for one day and we were on our way to dinner anyway.

I saw the Sofia Coppola in lots of colours:blue, bright red, cherry red and a kind of putty colour.

They also had loads of Nanos in different colours:orange, red, white, olive, dove grey, navy with black handles, white with black handles, black snakeskin and lots more.

I was actually looking for a red or bright blue bag but the red was not my kind of red and the blue was a kind of airforce blue, so lovely but a bit safe.

one I don't usually like yellow bags either but this yellow is just so pretty. The picture actually doesn't do it justice. It looked so nice with the teal M&E dress I was wearing.

I'm just having a bit of a wobble about the price. And the fact that I usually go for safe colours. One thing is for sure, I will have to eat bread and water for a while if I decide to keep the bag.

marsha our hotel is in the financial district (DH chose it Hmm) so it's a bit too business like but nice all the same. They have my favourite toiletries from Aromatherapy Associates, so that makes up for the lack of character.

queenc are you sure you won't take DH up on his offer?

Oh, lots of Gigis on the streets of NY! I have been walking all over NY in them and they are super comfortable.

Linus I'm v Envy at NYC. Whilst The Algarve is beautiful and the weather today has been stunning, the shopping is non-existent in this neck of the woods. unless you're in the market for fake Chanel handbags, scarves, beads and sunglasses. Have to admit to being a bit bored now, five days would've been enough and have spent as much time working via iPad as I would have done at home. Snatching a few minutes to check the latest page of MNV before re-joining the family downstairs. Looking forward to a proper catch-up later.

Drywhiteplease · 28/07/2013 21:12

QueenC you're bonkers! Take up the offer!
My tips for successful entertaining are; give guests plenty of aperitif ( pref champagne), loads of nibbles, then turn down lighting so they can't see (or care because they've had plenty to drink) what they're eating! Prepare everything in advance, because you too will have partaken in the aperitif and are now chatting away animatedly charming everyone and far to busy to cook.! Grin

linus fantastic bag
santa love your story, it's very romantic.
shop it feels like you've been gone forever!
liberty and one well done on your diets.

QueenCadbury · 28/07/2013 21:20

Envy of both the algarve and NYC!

Thanks for the advice about the cat. Unfortunately due the surgery we can't hold her too tightly and it's difficult to stroke her throat with the collar on. She really can be a grumpy thing! Given up now as she's getting too stressed. Will call the vet tomorrow as they mentioned an injection if we had probs with the tablets.

I've had a quick look online but actually can't find anything I really like. There were a couple of things I put in baskets but realised I'm just buying for the sake of it. I should be more stressed about sorting out the food than what to wear! I just have such a lack of confidence when it comes to clothes and I don't remember being like this prior to having pnd in 2007. I kind of felt that everyone else was super glam and felt inadequate and that feeling has never really left me. To be fair his colleagues are lovely and the juniors don't care who I am/what I wear. To them it's just a free meal and piss up. So why do I feel that I have to look perfect?

libertychick · 28/07/2013 21:28

Oh poor you QueenC - I hate dressing for 'events' too. Can we help you decide? I assume it's a smart casual look you are going for?

The juniors will have sod all clothes for the most part and you'll be way ahead of all of them. I think you probably can't go wrong in your lovely Monsoon navy dress or in the gorgeous jeagar top (have you ever worn it BTW?) with jeans and heels.

Definitely decide before the evening on everything you are wearing right down to jewellery etc as that takes the stress out of the evening itself.

libertychick · 28/07/2013 21:30

And QueenC I love that your DD likes that top!!!

QueenCadbury · 28/07/2013 21:31

liberty they are my exact choices too! I have worn the jaegar once and would have loved to wear it more but it's been too hot. I think Thursday is meant to be cooler though.

Sleepwhenidie · 28/07/2013 21:41

Hey QueenC I am sure you have something gorgeous to wear, although if DH is offering, was it you that liked that DVF jumpsuit Hmm? What date is shopping in London btw? Room for me too Smile?

Linus I am Envy of child free break in NYC (and the Nano) too, sounds fabulous. I am hoping to escape and join DH there for a weekend in September when he will be there for work. Top recommendations for shopping will be gratefully received Smile

We are now in decidedly chilly-and intermittently very rainy - St Ives. Grumpy enjoy the sunshine in Portugal! It's oddly comforting putting jeans and jumpers on at the moment but I think I'll be bored of it after a day or two!

Marsha did you order the dress?

QueenCadbury · 28/07/2013 21:54

Ha ha sleep not sure when he offered to buy something that he meant £330 Grin. I love st Ives btw.

Oct meet up is 12th. You'd better all be there now otherwise I have 10 hours to fill myself!

shopafrolic · 28/07/2013 21:55

It might not be NYC but I love St Ives Sleep especially the Barbara Hepworth museum. Have fun.
We went to a kite flying competition today on Dunstable Downs - so high up and windy we were all wearing fleeces! It certainly blew the hangover cobwebs away though.

shopafrolic · 28/07/2013 21:56

I still don't have shooting dates QueenC but am working on it.......

OP posts:
libertychick · 28/07/2013 21:58

I'd lean towards the top and jeans QueenC provided it's not too hot that day - especially since you have hit your goal weight - I always love wearing jeans when I am feeling skinny Smile

It's much cooler in London this evening too Sleep.

shopafrolic · 28/07/2013 22:18

fab Equipment shirt now £75 amongst the final Dressing Room reductions.....

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 28/07/2013 22:30

sleep a fan of St Ives here too. Just love Cornwall.
QueenC shame you feel like that....from what I know of our style (on here and on Pinterest ) I'm sure you always look super glam. Why don't you try one of your fab colour combos? InStyle mag (sept edition) says its the way or ward....thought of you when I read that. sleep is right....have a massive try on before hand then you'll avoid the manic throwing clothes round the bedroom last minute panic !
Am going to have a look at you're s to find an outfit.....

Drywhiteplease · 28/07/2013 22:35

Outfit 1.
Vero mood blue top
Black skinnies/straight leg
Killer heels (black?)
Fabby nail....perhaps the pink one you've pinned or the navy.

McNally · 28/07/2013 22:35

QueenC I second what Dry said. From here and Pin it it clear you have great taste and some gorgeous clothes to choose from. Definitely no need to buy something new if you haven't found something you love. I suspect that your guests will all be admiring their super glam host (and by that I don't mean your DH, no offence to him obv!).

Drywhiteplease · 28/07/2013 22:36

Ooooh shop anber said snake print is still big this A/W ....get the short quick!

McNally · 28/07/2013 22:36

PS. Love that Jaeger top.

shopafrolic · 28/07/2013 22:48

Not for me Dry I tried it but I need a deeper colour. The fit and fabric are just great though so would recommend.....especially at that price! There are some other Equipment shirts in the sale too on there.

santamarianovella · 28/07/2013 22:49

shop welcome back, glad the BBQ went great in spite of the weather.

linus NYC shopping is in a league of its own!,colored nanos are an urban myth here!

queen that jaeger top is perfect, dont feel this way about yourself,im sure you will look gorgeous.i hate attending or hosting events related to dh's work,i find it so stressful. but im sure you will rock it! Smile.

sleep thats no good at all.

liberty a thai massage sounds heavenly.

dry great suggestions .

santamarianovella · 28/07/2013 22:54

shop i love that shirt, and what a bargain!,

Drywhiteplease · 28/07/2013 23:02

I forgot about the Jeager top! Perfect

libertychick · 28/07/2013 23:02

Thai massage is quite full on Santa I am aching now! They do things like kneel on the backs of your thighs while applying what feels like full body weight to your back!!! It can be slightly disconcerting having the person clamber all over the table while you are on it. When DH goes they walk on him (he lies on the floor for that bit) . But I feel very flexible now and feel about 2 inches taller as all the knots are gone.
