Omg, frustrating day! I called HSBC this morning. They claim they won't open my charity's account until it had been registered with the Charity Commission or HMRC. The Charity Commission say they won't register it until it can prove that it has at least £5,000 of income. I don't want to give the £5,000 income before it's been approved by HMRC because then it's not tax efficient. If you fill in the form and say the charity's annual income is more than £5,000, then HMRC say they won't approve it until it's been registered with the Charity Commission. Round and round I have gone. All bloody day. Angry. Anyway it turns out that the f-wit at HSBC was wrong Hmm

Anyway on fashion related news..... My dress that also causing me angst today is herve leger. It is divine except, they said it's true to size so i went for an xs and i cant get the bloody thing over my arse properly. I know the s is too loose, so for it to look good it has to be the xs. Damn! damn! damn!

The rest of my trying on session....

This bag is a keeper

So is this jacket which looks better on than in the picture!

This is a lovely basic inspired by Marsha

This dress is lovely and a keeper

Now the returners.....

I looked so awful in this DvF dress I kept it on for about 2 seconds!

the second dress is probably going back. Can't put my finger on it, but it didn't wow.

I looked like a fat chipmunk in this cardigan

BrandyAlexander · 21/06/2013 17:54

This slipped into the luggage on the way back from the US Wink. I have a couple of others but need to find them first. I was actually quite good in the US but that's because I knew I had a whole load of stuff waiting for me Blush.

shopafrolic · 21/06/2013 17:58

Novice sorry to be dull but don't keep the Herve Leger at that price unless it is perfect.
Bargainous Barbour jacket and I love the cashmere basic.
Foxy vile weather here, boiling hot and chucking it down! We're supposed to be going to a garden show this weekend with the inlays.....Hmm. Are you going to Wimbledon? I will be watching on the TV (possibly sat in garden eating strawberries watching through the window if we're lucky). I so want to go one year. This was not my year......

Is the J Crew store shopping experience worth the hype Novice? I'm curious......

Just back from a quick rummage round the TK Maxx jumble sale. Not so much this week but did see some good black and white striped maxi dresses and Dune sandals. Also lace up black Kickers in an 'Ash' trainer style. Calf hair Ted Baker ballet pumps but I'm not doing a ballet pump this Summer.

this dress was nice as is this ombre sun dress.

Tempted by this stripe maxi

Reiss dresses are in stock..

this Aspinall satchel in mid blue seems a good buy too but think it is online only. i had a quick browse before going to the shop. Online there are also D&G bags, Etro, Lulu Guinness and Hogan bags; A Stella McCartney quilted shoulder bag here; A Miu Miu, Givenchy reduced to £700 from £1300, Marc Jacobs and Marni bag; Clinique toiletries and Nina Ricci, Angel and Lancome body lotions

love this Paco Rabanne and this Aspinall pink leather clutch and this Etro tote bag is very tempting. It's a classic.

You need to trawl but there be gold in them online TK hills....

mignonette · 21/06/2013 18:23

Just seen these on line -

chloe and these leopard Edelmans and more Chloe sandals here and here

I've ordered these though as they are almost identical to a beloved pair of Cacharel pumps I loved, wore and lost ten years ago.

mignonette · 21/06/2013 18:28

Novice that Barbour is an amazing bargain. I truly covet it. I also like the Toothpick jean.

I echo the advice regarding RM- it needs to look and feel perfect on.

mignonette · 21/06/2013 18:32

The Etro bag link didn't work so here it is again

AmberNectarine · 21/06/2013 18:33

I bought that Barbour in Navy a couple of years ago (also in the sale), has been quite useful.

mignonette · 21/06/2013 18:36

I'm having a bad link day

Edelmans here and here

Chloes here and here

Sorry!

BrandyAlexander · 21/06/2013 18:44

You're both right, I will weep to send back that dress! I tell you....weep!

Mignonette, damn you those are fab links, I shall be looking at TKMaxx website all night now!!! I also love these but sadly I have a 4 inch rule (snigger) so will pass.

Shop, the shopping experience in Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and J Crew are all the same in the US, which is .....fantastic. It's always great to go back there, and then you realise that you rarely get the same level of service at similar stores here (i.e. you have to go designer or boutique before you get that kind of service here). They will spend time with you, happily go back and get different sizes and they will also suggest things that might look good on you, which i would never think of. Also, they are honest in their feedback. I used to live in Manhattan and my local shops were the flagship stores for BR and J Crew so they have been wardrobe staples for many years.

BrandyAlexander · 21/06/2013 18:48

I meant to say that Barbour was truly barginous, I actually got it from Selfridges for £75, cheaper than the website i linked to! It's like the rag&bone bag that was v briefly on sale for £171 and i happened to snap it up then. It's back on at £595 now. Shock

LinusDKD · 21/06/2013 19:18

Marsha yes I linked the scary looking girl in the tee before. I would really like to buy it even though it is £££ but Velvet charges USD 50 Shock p&p

Lovely orange skirt btw.

Novice such a beautiful dress but I agree, at that price it needs to fit perfectly.

I also bought a similar barbour in brown/khaki many years ago and it is such an easy coat to throw on.

And boo to the HSBC muppet!

Sleep well done on finding Leather's dress. Did you pm her?

My NaP sales order arrived and the MiH yellow breton is just soo pretty. If it's not boiling tomorrow morning I might wear it with my cobalt Asos pencil skirt to DS's nursery's brunch.

The Shred dvd also arrived today so now I have no excuse not to exercise anymore. I had a lovely lunch on the shores of lake Geneva today:starter, main and dessert so my diet fell by the wayside again today.

DS is back to his mischieveous ways so that means he's definitely on the mend.

Oh, and I got my first Pinterest follower today! Smile

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 21/06/2013 19:27

I'll be dreaming about that quilted Stella McCartney now Mignonette. Absolutely gorgeous. Bought DD2 (she of the stylist credentials) a Stella McCartney cotton kaftan blouse and shorts in TK Maxx for the outrageous price of £10 each.

novice I have coveted those toothpick jeans for some time now. The Pink Peonies girl often sports a pair and they're so flattering. Not especially in the market for jeans atm, but think I may be tempted to drop a pair in my basket when I go back to J Crew for my shorts and panama hat

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 21/06/2013 19:34

Bloody J Crew have put my shorts and hat on their front page. Watch them sell out before I have a chance to buy them now Angry

QueenCadbury · 21/06/2013 19:51

novice don't weep about the dress. It just means that there's something even better out there for you.

linus who are you on pin?

foxysocks · 21/06/2013 20:30

ooo i was looking at the j crew toothpick jeans in white. what's the sizing like, novice? GREAT shopping, that dress is absolutely bloody GORGEOUS but if it doesn't fit it does need to go back. how gutting!

great bargains mignon

i love pink peonies too grumpy, her p lim collection is to die for

my parka is LOVELY. perfect size, fit, colour, hood, lovely deep pockets and one on the inside, good quality seams and poppers. love the soft stripy jersey lining.

BUT (hate it when there's a but) i had assumed it would be shower proof. and doesn't seem to be coated at all. it's 100% cotton and machine washable, but how practical is that really? i need it to be shower resistant, if not fully waterproof. what to do lovely MNVers? what would you do, if it were you?

santamarianovella · 21/06/2013 20:43

novice that herve leger dress is gorgeous, such a shame.

mig wow! you are an amazing shopper i didnt know you could find chloe at tk, lovely sandals.

linus hope your ds is better, and im dying to see your boards!

QueenCadbury · 21/06/2013 20:57

foxy send it back. It may be lovely but it's not fit for purpose. Disclaimer: I am mrs practical/unstylish when it comes to rain and wear a north face waterproof but at least I'm dry Grin

BrandyAlexander · 21/06/2013 20:59

you're all right. :( back in the box it goes.

Foxy, I love that parka! In my head I see myself wearing something like that. Foolishly sometimes I give in to the image then realise I am barely 5'2" and short waisted. The parka just doesn't work on me. (See, I can be sensible occasionally!Grin)

Shop, I got those jeans (at 25% off so they were about £60) in a 26. I tried the 25 (too tight) and 27 (too loose). The website said the size 26 is for a natural waist 25, and I am prob 25.5. I also got these trousers in a size 0. Again just checked website and they say natural waist of 25. I am a size 6 so I reckon true to size.

I also bought j crew painter tee in blue. It is lovely.

shopafrolic · 21/06/2013 21:01

foxy can't you buy a spray to waterproof things? Not sure.....
If not, I'd have to send it back.... Sorry.

OP posts:
foxysocks · 21/06/2013 21:08

yes i do have a waterproofing spray. obv the seams wouldn't be waterproof but if it's full on raining i wear a rmac over my coat/top anyway - it's the showers i'm more bothered about.

novice I love a parka! it's the 90s childhood i reckon Grin. am 5'9 so am lucky enough to be able to indulge my grungy gallagher side.

queen i do see your point but i am all about style over function lol.
