That's good advice, thanks foxy. Was kind of hoping you'd tell me to lie down and rest though Grin.

libertychick · 18/06/2013 13:27

I hear you Foxy and lois! I had a good routine of core exercises going a couple of years ago and it makes all the difference. Problem now is finding time to do a class - I like to do one a week so someone is checking positioning etc but I work average 50 hrs per week and try to spend as much time as possible with DD on weekends and evenings so really hard to find a class time that works. I tried 2 days fasting lois and was so headachy and weak - I also have gastritis (totally self inflicted from work stress) and if I don't eat at regular intervals it plays up. I sound like a crock! But I know from experience that the 'no sugar, reduced carbs' approach tends to work quite well.

Foxy any suggestions for leg exercises? I have tight hamstrings and the muscles on the front of the thigh are weak and I have that flabby inner knee thing so I suspect you are correct about that being the root of the knee pain.

I bought a great pair of black and white print ankle length cotton (with 2% elastane) trousers today in H&M. Fantastic fit and only £14.99. Noticed some good jackets also. Justified the trousers on the basis that I find it so difficult to get a good fit with a 12 inch waist/hip difference that I grab them when I find ones that work. Not on the website unfortunately - v irritating as I really like to pin my purchases!

LinusDKD · 18/06/2013 14:05

Looove this but I don't think I can pull off a medium at the moment:

[[http://www.theoutnet.com/product/392516 Helmut
Lang]]

And the shoes are gorgeous as well and also discounted.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2013 14:46

Oh my God I nearly gave myself a heart attack!
So the NAP delivery arrived.
I'm sending all the Arty rings back. They are gorgeous but I don't love them enough and will rarely get to wear them so I am going to be sensible. Foxy the rose gold one is stunning. I was v tempted.....
The Chan Luu bracelet is an absolute keeper - gorgeous!
Then we come to the Dagmar sweater. Absolutely fab colour on me, great shape - perfect. I cut the tag off saying you can't return it once the tag is removed...... And then notice the tiniest of holes on the shoulder seem. Felt sick. Called NAP who were great and said that since the Dagmar tags were still intact (luckily) they will accept it back and send me a replacement. Moral of the story, check, check, check before removing tags!

Wow lois at the fasting. I like my food too much. I miss my weekly Pilates class, hoping to find another soon.

Feel just a little guilty sitting at my desk scoffing down a plate load of macarons whilst reading about your fasting/shredding....

But not so guilty as to not torture you all with the flavours- Pistachio and Rose; Lavender and Tileul flower (lime); Vanilla bean; St Germain Elderflower and sweet cucumber (sounds odd but think Pimms); Halva with rosewater and sesame paste and finally in honour of novice and her Tangerine DVF dress there is a Tangerine and milk chocolate....

Queen Cadbury's colour combination board has inspired me to think of colour/flavour combinations for Macarons and also Madeleines.

Today I am wearing an old Comme Des Garcons gathered hem cotton dress in a petrol blue and I have chosen my new sandals from Nine west to accompany it. My bag is the banana yellow Merci tie clutch here I bought a few weeks ago. Doing great service it is too. I got DH to French braid my hair but worrying that I am a little mature for such styles now. But I am so hot, our office is enclosed by a wall of glass and has no air con because this is the NHS and we must be martyrs and suffer for our 'art'....

mignonette · 18/06/2013 15:07

Linus

I wear a lot of Helmut including pants and jackets from the late 90's. And they have been worn and worn yet still drape/hang well and retain their sharpness of cut and intensity of dye. Can you not buy that skirt and slim into it? It seems a forgiving fabric.

LinusDKD · 18/06/2013 15:28

Such lovely flavours mignonette! Do you make the macarons yourself?
I could eat my bodyweight in macarons and madeleines.

I took your advice and wanted to order the H.Lang skirt but it has sold out. I snooze, I lose.

This afternoon I am wearing my new havs, my blue polka dot maternity tankini Blush and a fushia sarong and I just came indoors as DS complained it was too hot outside.

shop good news that they are going to send you a new jumper and about the Chan Luu bracelet. And if you are sure you're not going to wear the Arty, maybe it's best you are sending it back.

mignonette · 18/06/2013 15:32

My DD and I made them as an experiment (She is now training to be a patissier after graduating from a Russell Group and deciding her original career path is not for her).

How annoying about the Lang Sad... You do sound cool and summery Linus. I am however, not. It is brewing up a lovely humid thunderstorm here. Grey. oppressive and odd. Hence my bright party-on-my-feet-sandals!

Annianni · 18/06/2013 15:53

Lovely warm day ladies...

Good news on the sweater Shop.
I do love the Arty rings, they are fab.
Are you sure you wouldn't wear it Shop?
I'd happily wear one day to day.

Well... my house is covered in pink balloons.
We have home made banners up.
Chocolate cake's been made and dsd is really pleased with it.

Just waiting for dh to come home, so she can open her main presents.
I've got her Ellie Goulding tickets, and she'll cry when she sees them.
We got her some last Christmas and she was a gibbering wreck.
Definitely filming her for future embarrassment :o

My Whistles order came yesterday, Shop's quilted sweat is too short on me unfortunately.
The silk top was hideous.
The short sleeved grey sweat was lovely though.
And the Olympia sweater is really flattering, with the panel on the front, but had a mark on the back, but I've managed to order another from HoF.

The Marant boots should be here tomorrow

shopafrolic · 18/06/2013 15:54

Linus I'm still jealous! It's gloomy here, there needs to be a huge thunderstorm and then all would be right with the world. Oppressive......
I'm not sure I won't wear the Arty - I just know I won't have enough opportunity. If they come down further in price I might well buy again.
Everytime I see Binky with hers on MiC I want one all over again. But my days of cocktails and nights in bars are fairly limited at the moment. I thought I should be a bit more realistic and buy for my current lifestyle.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 18/06/2013 15:56

By the way - how are you supposed to wear a cocktail ring or does it not matter? Index, middle or fourth finger?

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 18/06/2013 16:06

Phew shop that was stressful but great that they will replace and also good that you love the jumper.
liberty controlling sugar and carbs works for me most of the time.......unless a swine brings a huge cake to work!Grin I have a few H and M 3/4 trs for work, infact a lot of my work wear (little kids=paint, felt tips, squirty frubes at lunch grrr and white board pens v v grrrr ) is from there, it needs to be washable and not too precious.
Mignonette sooooo impressed that your DH can do French plaits! My DH wouldn't know one end of a hair brush from the other! Grin
I have just returned from spinning ( not good after cycling 30 miles on a boys saddle on Sunday!) sooo humid I was definitely glowing!!!!!

Drywhiteplease · 18/06/2013 16:08

Oh and Anni hope the birthday party goes well, sounds as if your house looks. Gorgeous

libertychick · 18/06/2013 16:20

Shop I have no idea about correct cocktail ring wear but I tend to go for middle or fourth finger. I think the Arty looks good for daywear too. Good spot on the Dagmar sweater - so easy just to rip off the labels especially when it's something you love. Well done NaP for being good about it.

Mignonette your descriptions of macarons are one thing but your constant pinning of ice cream is quite another!!! Everytime I log on glorious images of ice cream float before me...I may have to unfollow your food boards for the next 4 weeks. Grin I am also impressed your DH can french plait.

Sounds like a good time lined up for your DD Anni. Looking forward to the Marant feedback tomorrow.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2013 16:25

Anni enjoy the celebrations I wish you were my mum! I'd cry if I got Ellie Goulding tickets too.
Sorry - should have mentioned the Whistles quilted is shorter at the back than the front, that's what I like about it though - I wear it with a neon vest underneath.....
Good luck with the boots.

lois28thoms · 18/06/2013 16:31

shop the great thing about the fasting is that the other days you don't have to worry. It can give people problems though like liberty experienced, I think it has something to do with the lack of carbs, I know people that suffered similar symptoms when they went onto atkins.

I'm very impressed at all the good customer service stories, one positive effect of the internet I suppose is that good customer service gets you more business.

libertychick · 18/06/2013 16:58

Have come home a bit early and just had a trying on session with my new H&M printed trousers - work with lots of things in my wardrobe so even more pleased now. Smile. And the Whistles biker arrived yesterday - love, love, love.

mignonette · 18/06/2013 17:36

Ani What a lovely gift for DD.

Liberty I am the ice cream sadist. Sent to torture the World with pictures of it. If I cannot eat as much as I would like, then I will look at it instead..Grin

OneLittleLady · 18/06/2013 17:44

mig I love the ice cream pictures, I can't eat it though as I'm both lactose and gluten intolerant Sad I'm such a picture of health aren't I Grin

Today's music lesson, drums, went swimmingly. Tutor says I have natural rhythm so i should pick it up pretty quickly. Mostly a case of getting my crappy left arm to obey me!

Today's outfit was mid wash blue skinnies, blue, black and white converse double tongue low tops, a white and grey stripe vest underneath a sleevless black oversize vest. Had to wear the vest underneath even though it's been boiling today as I didn't want to be flashing the tutor my bra cups!!! Given that I'm pretty norky, you can't miss the bra AT ALL.

QueenCadbury · 18/06/2013 17:57

Hello all. I'm in bed wearing sweat pants. My excuse is though that I had a minor operation today (laparoscopy) so my abdomen is sore and huge (they blow you up with air to get a better look inside). I'm hoping it goes down by tomorrow otherwise I'll never fit into normal trousers. I'm still in a bit of an anaesthetic fug too so if I drop off to sleep mid post then forgive me Grin.

one I'm so pleased for you as you sound so happy. I haven't got a musical bone in my body but it sounds like you do!

shop excellent customer service from j crew. I'm seriously impressed.

liberty I can see how the shred makes your knees and back hurt. I've got a weak back from SPD in 3 pregnancies and also tight hamstrings which pull the back out of alignment even more so I can't run or do much high impact anymore. As it's jut short bursts of high impact though, the shred seems to be ok. Won't be doing it for a few days though! I could never do the fasting thing-denying food makes me want it more. I can eat like a pig so for me it's mostly about portion control and not finishing off the dc leftovers!

mig I've off to search for your ice crem now!

shopafrolic · 18/06/2013 18:00

I had one of those a few years back QueenC - rest up. Flowers

AmberNectarine · 18/06/2013 18:36

Surgery day today on MN Vogue! I had some work done on my right hand and they had to deaden the nerves so I will have a rubber arm for 24h. And DH is on a business trip. Yippee.

Take care QueenC

LinusDKD · 18/06/2013 18:42

QueenC I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy nearly 4 years ago and I recovered fairly quickly but I did have a pain in my shoulder which is normal apparently because the air they pump into you needs to disperse somewhere.

Liberty good news on the biker jacket!

Anni I hope your dsd has the best birthday ever. And by the sound of all you have done for her, she definitely will.

Mignonette it's been decided, one of my DC will become a patissier one day.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2013 18:47

Amber Flowers for you too
