It's 30 degrees here today shop! But it is getting a bit overcast now which suits me fine as I need to stay in the shade anyway with my pale skin.

Precious used to be my favourite boutique when I still lived and worked in London! Some of the dresses I bought there are still my amongst my favourite items of clothing.

mignonette · 17/06/2013 15:45

Love this but it is sold out in a 10....Sad and this scarf would look good with so much of my stuff [tempted]

Linus My Father lived in France until his death last year. We are trying to work out what'll happen to his house there as although my stepmother claims they left everything to each other it is my understanding that under French law, the house has to be divided between children and spouse upon its sale. Stepma has gone strangely quiet re the issue especially as she started a new relationship with another man 4 months after death of my father....Sad. Father did say that he knew the house would have to be shared with us under French law. it's all a mess really. I'd have loved one more week there as it was so special to him but we were never really welcome....

shopafrolic · 17/06/2013 16:34

Linus Precious is still great, atmosphere hasn't changed and it's been a few years for me.

Sale has come at the wrong time of the month for me unfortunately, I hope things don't sell out as quickly as migonette is seeing.

shopafrolic · 17/06/2013 16:35

Hobbs website also down - don't send emails directing people to look at your sale preview and then show site under construction - it's rubbish

OP posts:
lois28thoms · 17/06/2013 17:12

Thanks shop I intend to.

shopafrolic · 17/06/2013 17:26

So then lois28thoms - introduce yourself. What's your name and where do you come from? :)
Are you on Pin? Have you indulged in the sales?

OP posts:
lois28thoms · 17/06/2013 17:44

I'm from West Sussex, no pinterest, I find social networks a bit overwhelming. Forums are where I am most comfortable, and I've been out of the loop with them for a while too. This is a big step from just hiding like usual. Smile

I have not indulged beyond the essentials so far, and at this rate I think window shopping may be all I get sadly. It's still better than nothing though.

santamarianovella · 17/06/2013 17:45

she is much better sleep ,she keeps looking at herself in the mirror and say"not good".

linus i remember what summers in switzerland were like, mosquito bites and all!

mignonette thats terrible!,surely you have the right to visit your dads house, how cruel of your stepmum.

my feud with NAP ended ten minutes ago bought a pair of gucci metallic sandals, was tempted to buy a marant jacket, but will wait a bit.

AmberNectarine · 17/06/2013 18:10

Choos arrived and are lovely, I like the square toed shape for a change. Will have to suede protect though, they seem quite delicate. At least they have rubber soles!

shopafrolic · 17/06/2013 18:20

Definitely better than nothing lois28thoms. My grandmother used to live in W Sussex - I have fond memories holidaying there when I was little. Welcome on board :)
Have you got a link for the sandals Santa ? They sound gorgeous.
Amber glad your sales purchase is better than mine!

Mignonette it is clear that your grief is still very raw and the last thing you need is to worry about material things.

But I think it would be a good idea to talk to a French lawyer as it seems your stepmother is uncooperative and might be misguided in her belief the house is hers alone.

I don't know French law but I do know a bit about Belgian law which is very similar (both still based on Napoleon's Code Civil) and I seem to remember that under Belgian law a parent can't completely disinherit their children. Children are always entitled to a minimum of their parents estate, even if the parent died leaving a will leaving everything to someone else.

When it comes to a house I think the surviving spouse usually has 'usufruct' of the property which means they can continue to live there until they die if they wish to do so.

Maybe you can post your problem in Legal hoping some MNetter has more experience with French law and can help you understand your position a bit better?

I am so sorry that your loss is being made even more difficult because of this.

LinusDKD · 17/06/2013 20:29

What do people think of these boots

Michael Kors

I have been looking for ankle/biker boots to wear with skinnies and skirts in winter but as I am very short and have big calves, standard biker boots look a bit chunky on me. I think these might be a bit more elegant and flattering on me but I am not sure.

LinusDKD · 17/06/2013 20:30

Such a pretty top but I don't think it will suit me.

Iris & Ink

Drywhiteplease · 17/06/2013 20:36

Shop a call from the fraud people at Barclays!... That's hilarious Grin. Shame about your orders today, hopefully the NAP will be more successful. Links to what you've bought? nosey
mignonette that's v sad about your father's house.
Linus I love the top.......great for flat chested me

Drywhiteplease · 17/06/2013 20:37

Anyone been to Guernsey?

LinusDKD · 17/06/2013 20:41

santa I have also succumbed and ordered these in the NaP sale:

MiH breton

Splendid Tee

Oh and the mozzies were in France, not in Switzerland. Where we live we don't seem to have to many of them during the summer.

QueenCadbury · 17/06/2013 20:41

dry yes, I have, years ago. I have a friend who comes from there.

mignonette that all sounds very stressful. Sending a hug.

shop never mind, more money for a/w stuff Grin.

linus I'm not at all sure about those boots but they may look better on.

Drywhiteplease · 17/06/2013 20:42

Sorry for random, non fashion related question, but v impressed with Sardinia pin board

mignonette · 17/06/2013 20:46

Apologies to all for posting about ugly family issues on our lovely Vogue thread. I get emotionally incontinent sometimes and very easily triggered. Thanks for all your kind words though.

Now back to the clothes......Love the Iris & Ink- I'd keep things very simple and un adorned with that Linus if I was to wear it. I'm not the kind that suits heavily embellished clothing. No Boho for me despite its prettiness. The Kors boots are keepers. They will go with so much. Probably not flares or boot cut but I'd wear them with most cuts of pants and they'd suit a lot of skirts/dresses too. Wearing them with pants will elongate your legs and they won't cut across the widest part of your calves which quite frankly is unflattering to most shapes of legs.

Waving a big hello to Lois

santamarianovella · 17/06/2013 20:59

The boots are nice linus .i think the the advice you gave mignonette is correct,I might ask some people,I'm not that great in french legal system, but it seems most of the cases in French courts are related to what mignonette mentioned. That Breton top is gorgeous.
shop these are the sandals I ordered , and shame about your orders.hope the YSL ring is a keeper.
dry that board is fab,I started following it.

mignonette · 17/06/2013 21:09

Thanks santa...Feel free to PM me if you do know anything. God those Gucci gold sandals will look amazing with tanned feet and painted nails..

I have a YSL cocktail ring bought for less than £160. The designs and quality punch well above their price band-weight.

QueenCadbury · 17/06/2013 21:12

linus having looked at them again and looked at some of the other designs, it's the almond toe that puts me off. I prefer a rounder toe. But that's just a personal thing.
