Up, breakfasted and so have my garden birds- have a regular crowd now including very tame blackbirds and a thrush which hops into my kitchen sometimes to smash snail shells on my stone floor (ugh).

The coat is a stayer Grumpy -endless options for changing accessories which I would imagine is a race day must. You have my vote for buy. That shade of ice suits so many different colours and textures. I think we have pinned some on QueenCadburys colour combination board.

Straw poll time -

One vote each for our perfect bag. What is yours? this is my luxury choice.

I see Bottega Veneta are also selling fabric totes at a more affordable price point for a luxury brand here

mignonette · 15/06/2013 08:52

My god Amber - that insta alone gives a hit to their brand. I will post some photos later of the appalling state of my Alexa. It looks like it has been mauled by a leopard as opposed to being the pattern of one.

Foxy I would recommend sending it back on the basis that whenever you wear it, it'll always be the garment that disappointed you....Grin...Get the increased discount and spend on something else!

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 08:59

My orange Celine is looking pretty scratched and marked too. I have this idea that my wardrobe will be better kept when I'm working. I should also be able to get more of a rotation going or something.

foxysocks · 15/06/2013 09:00

thanks amber! - £57.03 all in compared to £135 from NaP. hurrah!

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 09:01

Nice Mignon will link to faves later when on mac/pin.

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 09:02

Wahay Foxy good one!

foxysocks · 15/06/2013 09:05

thanks mignonette - i absolutely agree. SO good to be able to chat these details through with people who absolutely understand
.
marsha that's disappointing - I was going to ask you about your celine. do you have a link? where did you buy from?

am pmsl at 'mauled by a leopard'

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 09:09

I think it's just me and everyday indelicate use. I'd dearly love to get another and only use it when the dc are not around. It's all those moments where you're strapping them in cars, doing the shopping it gets knocked too much.

I would love a raspberry one, saw it once and hunted around and couldn't find it, or burgundy a la Linus or Santa (ah who was it?). I don't even know if they go on sale I should check.

McNally · 15/06/2013 09:22

Morning all! Was supposed to be seeing my brother and family today but cancelled due to his DS having a tummy bug so sitting in PJs pondering what to do with the day. Don't want to waste it!

Def return it Foxy, especially as the wash is not great. Is a faff but worth it for that saving.

Disappointing that bags have not worn well. They need to be able to take a bit of a battering. I have a couple of Bally bags that I use for day to day that have lasted pretty well. And Bally did a bit of a refurbish on one too.

Also love Bottega Veneta mig. I want this one. Also have a real soft spot for a Birkin. Actually there are many, many, many...

Congrats on driving test success Amber. Do very little driving in London but quite enjoy it elsewhere.

McNally · 15/06/2013 09:29

Does anyone know what the sizing on J Crew Tippi sweaters is like? I'm a 12 so would a medium be ok? Want a bit of slouch.

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 09:30

Foxy this is sold out, but just to see what you think. P Lim with long strap. Actually it's suede but am sure they do leather versions.

Mignon my favourites are P Lim.

Céline and Céline any colour. Could probably link loads of Céline but will stop there.

Love this orange, but not sure what it is.

mignonette · 15/06/2013 09:34

Awaits Harrods loot from Foxy

I had a try of the new Estee Lauder 'Bronze Goddess' reformulation yesterday during my lunch break. It's not a new horizon in perfume-ology but very very clever in invoking happy holiday memories. It is pure Hawaiian Tropic (which I sometimes dab on just for the scent) with a little more complexity on the dry down. I used to wear the Dior version and sit there at my desk having a subtle wrist-sniff when especially stressed-it is the essence of salt, sea,sun and coconut soaked skin.

I'm not normally an Estee wearer and the fact that it is EDT is off putting as even EDP doesn't last that long on my skin for some reason. I have the Tom Ford 'Oud Wood' and Violet Blonde full size plus testers of Ombre de Hyacinthe, Azure Lime and Black Violet. I especially recommend Azure Lime for summer evenings and holidays...Another lovely more mainstream summer fragrance is the Lancome 'O'De Lancome range. Worn by my Mother, the original is transporting for me; a zingy, nose sharp citrus-green. However I bought 'Azure' last Summer and wore it to death. It is just lovely with a floral peony overlay to the original.

I am normally an Oriental - Tobacco perfume wearer (Angel, Tabac Blonde, Ambre Nu, Vitriol D'Oeillet, Secret Oudh, Secrete Datura, Felanilla Musc Ravageur etc . I much prefer the heavier scents but these fresher lighter perfumes have been a revelation to me.

What are your Summer perfumes?

Drywhiteplease · 15/06/2013 09:39

Grumpy lovely, versatile coat.....I'd get it if I were you and after freezing at races yesterday
Marsha I'd return and save the money.
Amber that's shocking. Aren't you tempted to take it back?
Mignonette I spend hours and hours in my eternal quest for the perfect handbag and the perfect jean.

Shop which Bella dress are you wearing tonight? Whistles is a new discovery for me and I'm really thrilled with my dress you know how a garment just works? Fits beautifully, fab colours.....I felt fantastic in it, now want it in lots of colours!

Annianni · 15/06/2013 09:43

Just got to selfridges :o

mignonette · 15/06/2013 09:46

Marsha is that bag not one of the new Hedi Slimane YSL bags? Or is it this Burberry in an orange?

That is gorgeous and the celine yellow too.

I should change the straw poll question into wish list/favourite clutch/tote/handle/shoulder/cross body shouldn't I? I also adore the Ps1 by Proenza and got this one but the colour is very impractical for so many of my more colourful outfits. It tends to come out when I'm wearing charcoal grey or indigo denim as it suits those shades best.

McNally No matter how many Birkins the Ecclestone sisters buy, they will always have style....sigh. I love that Bottega too but worry about keeping the basket weave clean and dust/dirt free....

Taking DS's GF out tomorrow for holiday shopping. She needs cover ups/kaftans/shoulder covering scarves....

AmberNectarine · 15/06/2013 09:59

Mignon I still love the look of the Rocco and Diego but wouldn't buy another. Next big bag buy is going to be SL Cabas Chyc. I'm pondering doing a spending ban after the sales to buy it as a birthday present to myself. Could make a decent blog feature...

santamarianovella · 15/06/2013 10:03

omg amber, that does not look good at all!,

foxy, I would return it too,the difference is huge.

marsha linus has the burgundy, some celine bags go on sale,so some in a celine store in Paris last year. The one I have is more grained leather and have not used it a lot, maybe twice a week,so it looks great, the worst designer bag I had was an YSL muse, just awful,it scratched within weeks, and it does not hold its shape at all

mignonette i love bottega a lot! My dream bag would be this chanel grande shopper. Or this.i also want a chanel tweed jacket!

santamarianovella · 15/06/2013 10:06

*saw , not so

shopafrolic · 15/06/2013 10:12

shopafrolic · 15/06/2013 10:14

Gobsmacked at the Rocco Amber - I'd be taking it back and complaining at that price!
Anni and Amber happy Selfridges shopping - I'm jealous.
Marsha enjoy your last week of freedom or is it the opposite? :)
No idea on dream bag - I don't dare start to look as I'll want to get the credit card out.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 10:22

Hehe Shop atm I feel like it's the opposite. Lets hope that feeling sticks, you know with actually doing the work and all. Not just my super quick train to a nice area and environment.

Thanks Santa I think it is definitely more me than a problem with the quality with the Celine. I use it all the time.

Have a great time in Selfridges Anni and Amber and everyone going.

shopafrolic · 15/06/2013 10:23

I can tell you a few dream purchases though.
Burberry Peacoat
Vivienne Westwood dress
Chanel jacket and 2.55 (so there's the bag then!)
Boodles waterfall ring
George Jensen fusion ring
Ladies rose gold rolex - still haven't decided on final style!

Good morning everyone! I got a lie in this morning, DH's turn tomorrow Smile. Gorgeous links as usual, loving the bags, particularly the BV and of course beautiful Celine. My personal choice would be this Loewe baby, although the more sensible choice would be all black Smile

Love that coat Grumpy, I bet you would end up wearing it loads. Did you order it yet?

Amber are you going to HN? I was hoping to get theory sandals in the sale but Marylebone store sold out in 39 and Selfridges didn't stock them. They suggested HN, if you wander through could you let me know if you see them please?

On fragrance-it is BIL's birthday on Monday, just remembered and we aren't in London so I need to order a present online today. Is Neroli Portofino a safe bet do you think? (I assume I will get it online), I love it but need vote of support for men (sure DSis will be happy to use it if not tho Grin).

MarshaBrady · 15/06/2013 10:36

Love that Sleep, love your list Shop, bag included Grin.

Mignon thanks could be YSL not sure, possibly an old pin too.

Love the Chanel with chain Santa.

If anyone is in close proximity to a Celine trio could you see if they are on sale, thanks!
