Genius Anni, I was thinking ice cream cones but have wafers, waffle will work much better! Think this cake may end up costing me as much as buying one did last time ( which hurt) Grin

Hopefully · 10/06/2013 15:11

Slightly involved, but if you simplified this looks like a nice princess castle cake

Drywhiteplease · 10/06/2013 15:38

Sleep try
this
Make square or round Madeira . I used bought mini Swiss rolls for the towers. Ice cream cones for the turret/roof. You can buy ready made flowers and pink roll out icing from a cake shop. Just stand princesses on or around the castle. Quite easy.

Anyone looking for a navy broderie anglaise top:

cacharel

shopafrolic · 10/06/2013 15:54

So the Gables have arrived! here
The yellow is not quite as canary yellow as I'd hoped but since they're on my feet I'm not convinced anyone will notice that much. I really like the shape of them. No good for anyone with wide feet I'd say. Hopefully did you keep the ones you ordered?
I also ordered this basic M&S cream vest - it has nice wide straps but I need to size up to a 14....

By the way, I'm not ignoring the cake discussion - I just am completely unable to contribute! I can just about bake banana bread!

Drywhiteplease · 10/06/2013 16:00

shop I can do birthday cakes....but my banana bread had the consistency of a brick!Grin

I have the Clarks sandals that Amber bought. Lovely, really nice actually.

Sleepwhenidie · 10/06/2013 16:17

Ok thanks so much dry and hopefully, will use those as my guide....not sure if I am more nervous now or reassured Grin!

shopafrolic · 10/06/2013 16:24

shopafrolic · 10/06/2013 16:47

Has anyone received their Hasbeens yet? I'm still dithering. Just wondering whether you've all fallen in love?

shop avoid pottery barn, overpriced and under quality. We had one local to us in Dubai.

Try the website made in design. We have just ordered so much from there! Some really lovely pieces and the service have so far been pretty amazing Smile

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/06/2013 18:39

Shop I like Chic Shack and Aspace for children's furniture. Pricey, and I wouldn't get much, but great for inspiration and picking up key pieces.

shopafrolic · 10/06/2013 18:40

Thanks all - now.... let's be careful, all this talk of bedlinen and cakes is making this thread more MN Good Housekeeping than MN Vogue! Grin

Calling all shortarses. What maxi skirt do you wear in the summer?

I have been looking for one that doesn't completely swamp all of my 5'4" but so far I haven't seen one that I like.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/06/2013 19:41

Linus I've discovered a blog called extrapetite.com. A go-to guide for shortarses petite ladies like us. I usually avoid maxis, but Banana Republic are currently doing a collection called The Milly Collection which is Hamptons-inspired loveliness and comes in petite sizes too.

Just so you know, currently 30% off + free shipping at J Crew with code SUMMERTIME

santamarianovella · 10/06/2013 20:03

linus, stay away from pleated type skirts,I have the splendid tube skirt and I love it.lovely with simple tanks,

LinusDKD · 10/06/2013 20:05

Thanks for that blog recommendation! I just want to find a skirt
I can wear on warm days when I don't feel like getting my pasty legs out.

LinusDKD · 10/06/2013 20:10

santa even though I am a size 12/14 in skirts and trousers I can do a jersey pencil skirt if the jersey is thick enough but I am not sure a jersey
tube skirt will work.

I do have a lavender gipsy style skirt I bought many years ago at Zara in Barcelona which is fairly flattering, but I suspect Zara in Spain caters to Spanish women who are generally shorter (and thinner) than other European women.

santamarianovella · 10/06/2013 20:25

its really flattering linus, its not a pencil type its a bit flowy .the fabric is not too thin,i tried many tube skirts before ordering it and i looked horrible in all of them.

LinusDKD · 10/06/2013 20:39

I just googled it and it does look flattering. Where did you buy it?

LinusDKD · 10/06/2013 20:41

I am already imagining myself swishing about in it tripping over it

MarshaBrady · 10/06/2013 20:51

I think Hopefully has the Splendid tube skirt? Or was it the American Apparel one...

Sounds nice.

Thanks for the code Grumpy! I'm still pondering work stuff.
