i did score at petit bateau! lovely things for the dcs at %30 off!

BrandyAlexander · 08/06/2013 20:21

Evening all! I am the airport lounge at the airport waiting to fly out. This is the worst bit of my job for me as I miss my kids. :( I get back Tuesday night but won't see them till Weds morning.

So anyway (moving on as i am prone to tears on these occasions) I had a few traumas packing and totally changed my mind about what I am wearing.

I have gone for helmut top and ralph lauren jodhpurs for informal day tomorrow then LK ariella dress in navy for dinner tomorrow (I have to give a brief speech) then my big day is Monday. Damsel in a dress Alexander dress and matching jacket. Tuesday, Armani navy long sleeved dress. Jewelry is blingy but subtle. Studs, small pendant, tennis bracelet and raindance.

I was going to wear a red Austin reed dress but I have been feeling bloaty all week so decided against!

liberty hope your lovely top went to a good homeEnvy and that you're having a good weekend.Wine

linus oooh don't talk jewelry!!! I have just seen an amethyst and diamond ring that I have loved for ages and went off the market. It's back but I literally cannot find a single reason to justify getting it. Damn!Wink

BrandyAlexander · 08/06/2013 20:24

Meant to say Linus, my rare shopping trips out are like that these days. Poor you.

Gap have 30% off everything this weekend so the dcs did well out of me there, though I was only stocking up on basics. They have a hoodie that I really like but only saw it on way out. Such is life!

LinusDKD · 08/06/2013 20:24

Love Petit Bateau! DM used to buy our underwear from there when we were little and now I do the same for the DC.

"Vages"?

santamarianovella · 08/06/2013 20:28

vegas!sorry i meant vegas

LinusDKD · 08/06/2013 20:28

Novice seriously, the bling was soo outrageous even Liberace would have thought it was too much.

Especially the watches! How many diamonds can you throw at a watch and expect them to stick?

Good luck with your presentation and (((hug))) for missing the DC.

shopafrolic · 08/06/2013 20:31

Novice good luck! You'll look, and be, amazing!
Linus sorry the shopping trip reality was worse than the fantasy

Novice lovely, good luck. You'll be incredible.

MarshaBrady · 08/06/2013 20:34

I need to catch up but just wanted to slip in that message to Novice. I love the outfit too.

santamarianovella · 08/06/2013 20:36

linus i remember the bling so well, some of the watches resembled alarm clocks! and the necklaces omg! i have no idea who can manage to wear them without doing permanent damage to their necks!

shopafrolic · 08/06/2013 20:37

I might have the tweeds on tomorrow Marsha - we're off to a Country Fair - woop woop Confused

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 08/06/2013 20:37

good luck novice

LinusDKD · 08/06/2013 20:41

Ah, Vegas makes more sense! I thought vages was some sort of French slang I had never heard of.

MarshaBrady · 08/06/2013 20:41

Tweeds sound great Shop!

Barbie1 · 08/06/2013 20:42

I'm here, albeit briefly. Packing is taking up way too much of my time.

Regards to product layering.

Serum first.

Eye cream

Moisturizer.

If you need to use an SPF I would in fact mix with your moisturizer to save from applying too many layers.

It's very rare for products not to carry an SPF. Most moisturizers or foundations do, so check because you might in fact be over applying.

Always wait the longest amount of time poss before applying foundation, it will ensure the product doesn't just slide right back off again.

Re the bronzer. It's best not to apply daily as the tanning agent will build up on the skin and cause more problems and blemishes. If you do need to apply its actually best to apply to a clean skin minus all the other stuff so the active ingredients have chance to actually penetrate the skin and become 'active' leave before applying products in top as this could hinder development.

I always clean skin at night, apply tanning agent. Brush teeth etc and then about 20 mins just before bed apply a night cream.

The night cream is slightly thicker so helps to prevent the tan from rubbing off on the pillow.

Hope this helps?

shopafrolic · 08/06/2013 20:56

Genius Barbie! Especially the 20 mins before night cream tip - Love it. Thanks!

BrandyAlexander · 08/06/2013 21:03

Thank you! x

By the way something totally non-fashion but i am sooo excited and its been taking up all my spare time over the past couple of weeks......I am setting up a charity Smile it's to help girls education in a rural area of a developing country. Sorry for being so me, me, me but i am v excited and wanted to share as i cant really do so in rl. i am learning a lot about how you go about doing this the right way. It's actually de-stressed me the last week or so to have something else to focus on. I also have to name the charity which is like having a third dcGrin

shopafrolic · 08/06/2013 21:07

Wow Novice that's amazing!

Drywhiteplease · 08/06/2013 21:57

novice your charity sounds really great, and kind of humbling too. Good luck with your trip and speech.....your outfits sound perfect.
Shop won't you be hot in tweed? How are you wearing it? I'd love a really well tailored tweed blazer, in a decent 100 % wool , but not a frumpy style....have been looking and looking. You should come to the Great Yorkshire Show.we could do lunch

OneLittleLady · 08/06/2013 22:07

where's the great yorkshire show held dry I ought to know being from yorkshire but I don't Hmm

libertychick · 08/06/2013 22:11

What a fantastic thing to do Novice - very best of luck for the next few days - the outfits sound spot on!

Shop I have emailed!

Drywhite you have inspired me to have another attempt at finding white jeans with all the outfit descriptions.

Barbie great advice, I do feel a bit mystified with all the options - can I ask a follow up question?? How important is eye cream? I have always thought it's a bit OTT but the wrinkles laughter lines are getting a little more noticeable and I am wondering if I should start using it? And if so, which ones would you recommend?

Brought the nine west dress back to TK Maxx today but had DD in tow so couldn't clothes shop. I tried on a few cardis but her response to each one was 'no like it Mammy, take it off'!!!

libertychick · 08/06/2013 22:13

And YY to tweeds and neon Shop

libertychick · 08/06/2013 22:33

And good luck with hand surgery Amber - is it tendons? I had problems with both left and right hand following pregnancy but luckily steroid injections sorted it.

McNally · 09/06/2013 10:33

Morning all! Shame about the disappointing shopping trip Linus. It always seems to be those trips where you don't have either the time or money to spend that you end up seeing tons of stuff to buy. Very annoying.

Lots of luck for your work event novice. I am sure you'll do an amazing job and the outfits sound perfect. Also congrats on the charity. That sounds really interesting. Would love to know more.

One the Great Yorkshire Show is in Harrogate. Massive event.

Have just ordered this Theory dress. Can't get too excited about it but need a smart, conservative dress for work meetings so hope it'll be useful. Thinking about this John and Pearl necklace to liven up white t shirts and shirts. Love the colour but it is a bit chunkier than I was looking for. Should really be shopping for Father's Day gifts. What to buy men who don't really want anything?!
