Anyone know what Bloch sizing is like?

MarshaBrady · 07/06/2013 20:59

I really do. I think it was last on during a spate of bad sleeping (nothing new there). And I had to go to bed.

Marie Antoinette is visually scrumptious. Loads of pastel, floral, frills and cream.

santamarianovella · 07/06/2013 21:01

linus love your description of andy"violent and very virile" Grin, and you have to watch marie antoinette,i loved everything about it specially the locations ,she really captured the essence and personality of marie antoinette.

mignonette · 07/06/2013 21:01

Love, love, love Marie Antoinette- the soundtrack is stunning especially the ballroom scene where they dance to Siouxsie & the Banshees 'Hong Kong Gardens' and the use of The Cure's 'All Cats Are Grey' and Adam & The Ants...I could go on and on....

Does anybody remember US Vogues Marie Antoinette cover and editorial with Kirsten Dunst where she was photographed inside Versailles wearing specially commissioned couture by Chanel and co? Dreamy.

santamarianovella · 07/06/2013 21:07

mignonette i still have it.

LinusDKD · 07/06/2013 21:08

Right off to bed, need my beauty sleep for tomorrow's shopping bonanza.

Will I dream about a young Andy or a young Al tonight? Wink

Knowing me, probably about the lovely handbag...

MarshaBrady · 07/06/2013 21:08

Grin sweet dreams!

Leather · 07/06/2013 21:22

Thank you all for the warm welcome,
I was just being a bit cheeky butting in with my dress quest, I'm not sure I'm fashionable enough to stick around Blush but hey, I'll give it a go!
Ok so me, I'm 39, 5'7" and about a size 10 having lost 2.5 stone since last summer.
Weight loss, whilst fantastic, has turned me into a raving shopaholic! I simply cannot stop!
Whereas before I'd see something, think "that looks nice" try it on then think "that looks shit" I'm now scared to try stuff on cos I know I'll want it!
I'm a sahm so have no work wardrobe to worry about. I love Whistles stuff and Marc Jacobs but only when funds allow so usually end up sourcing alternative lookalikes although I have recently been investing a bit more in the high end stuff as I'm realising that the quality is usually much much better. Right now I'm loving my sexy boyfriend (eew!) jeans, neon tops, big necklaces, my pointy flats and leather hippie sandals. I'm also on the hunt for a pair of denim cut offs (although probably don't have the legs to pull them off!) and of course that elusive neon/beige dress.
I am also about to move to a much, much warmer part of the world and so my wardrobe has started to reflect this, I would like to get a few more cotton/natural fibre dresses.
Phew! That was a novel, sorry!
Big thanks again shop for the tweeting help! And sleep too, also have you tried Bravissimo? I used to go to Rigby and Pellar but I find Bravissimo stock a much larger range and their fitters are just as good.
I hope I'll be able to get to know you all a bit better Smile

libertychick · 07/06/2013 21:51

Welcome leather
Thanks all for the sympathy. Have decided to leave the wine until tomorrow night as I have a thumping headache and carpet fitters arriving in the morning.
Migonette I had just 20 mins in TK Maxx and found a Nine West cotton sleeveless shirtdress in a dark blue/grey - haven't tried it on yet so fingers crossed. I was very close to buying the navy version of the A&A cardigan you have linked and also a navy one with pink hearts on the pockets - will pop back again tomorrow for another look. Love TK Maxx!!!

mignonette · 07/06/2013 22:00

This dress looks similar in style to the one natalie Pinkham was wearing albeit in a different colourway. It is Jonathan Saunders for Escada Sport-

www.cocosa.com/sale/product/?pid=47319&sid=17918

I wonder if it comes in different colour ways?

libertychick · 07/06/2013 22:46

Sigh...didn't realise that Nine West is an american label so the size 12 I grabbed is too big. Oh well - just as well returns are so easy.

mignonette · 07/06/2013 22:55

For those of you who love Caramel Kids, here is a sale site -

mignonette · 07/06/2013 23:06

Hi Leather look forward to fash-chat with you and well done for the weight loss. Of course you should want to clothe your new shape and celebrate it. And we will enjoy 'watching' you do it. If you want to invest in a few 'pieces' there are so many discount sites we can recommend. I've just been shoppping on Cocosa.com. You register your email and the discounts are jaw dropping. Really big names sell there too. Loads of DVF for hotter climates.

Shame about the size discrep, Liberty That's sooo annoying and it is not made terribly clear either. I saw some Nine West stuff too. I know I keep banging on about it but Cocosa have a below £200, £150 and £100 clearance going on as I type. I have gone a little mad. Amazing Levis for men on sale £150 down to £35-50 too along with E Tautz, Galliano, Theory etc....

libertychick · 07/06/2013 23:13

Yellow shoes for Grumpy

I am browsing Cocosa right now Mignonette!!! Should really go to bed Smile

Leather · 07/06/2013 23:42

Thanks Libertychick sorry about your shitty week and your head Sad
and Mignonette ooooh Cocosa is soooo tempting! I will have to resist for the time being though as we are literally just about to move (as in less than a fortnight-eek!) and our move is stateside, yay!

God help DH's wallet me!
That Escada dress is similar though isn't it? The Natalie one has a belt but I guess she might've added it? It's bugging me...I wish she would reply to the tweets and put me out my misery!

mignonette · 07/06/2013 23:48

Lucky you *Leather..Can you say what region of the US? Have major Envy over your new shopping horizons..

Off to bed now after watching The Doors on BBC4...

Leather · 07/06/2013 23:54

Hell, why not, Las Vegas Mignonette
The doors as in the band?

mignonette · 08/06/2013 00:01

Yes as in the band.

Wow! Amazing restaurants now opening up there- Thomas Keller, Bobby Flay etc. Food and J Crew!

Leather · 08/06/2013 00:15

I know, it is beyond exciting but I'm still going through all the goodbyes at the moment so that's bringing me down Sad
Not to mention the stress! Aargh!
Still, nothing like moving continent to make you have a good clear out! Except the wardrobe obviously Grin
It's going to be very dangerous having Bloomingdales and Premium Outlets on the doorstep...

mignonette · 08/06/2013 00:30

Of course it is sad and stressful and as the kid of migrant parents who had to work in some pretty unusual places I remember my Mother's anxiety well. But oh my goodness, the benefits of having an expat childhood, the experiences, new horizons and friends. And my memories are all good.

You may well bankrupt yourself though. bed, Bath & beyond, the big fat padded comforter duvet throw overs at J C Pennys (paid a fortune to have three of them airmailed to us here), Crate & Barrel, Williams of Sonoma.....Drool...And if you see ZPim jams for sale....Buy them as they are the best ever

pinterest.com/pin/457326537131163097/

I really must go to bed. I'm terrible.

Leather · 08/06/2013 00:37

Mignonette, you don't know what that means to hear that.
I keep wobbling over whether or not we're doing the right thing for our DS, it's reassuring to hear positive things!
Thank you so much, sleep well

mignonette · 08/06/2013 00:52

Still here Grin

I'm glad I can offer you some reassurance. DS will benefit immeasurably and in this hyper-connected world, will maintain his ties to the 'Mother Country'.

Travel really does broaden the mind of a child. And having a child will hopefully ease your integration too. The Americans are wonderful, kind and open hearted, eager to embrace and hear about your backgrounds and it is easy to say to them 'will you help me get to know other parents?'

Sleep well too..

Barbie1 · 08/06/2013 05:26

Leather, I'll join in the move stress. Although to be honest it's not the move I'm worried about. It's the 24 hour worth of travel to get there.

Will this be your first expat post? How old is your dc?

This will be our third posting, I haven't lived in the uk for 6 years and have very little intention of going back.

The benefits are enormous, think Chanel bags Wink and extensive opportunities to meet some amazing people.

This is our second move with children, they are amazingly resilient coping with change but if you would like any advice I'm happy to help Smile

We will be in geoje, a small South Korean island not too far from busan.

The huge shopping trip I have planned is mainly due to the fact I will probably be classed as 'over' size by the tiny Koreans. I'm not sure there fashion is really my style either. After all who wants to wear a tartan mini with a hello kitty t shirt Grin Wink

The good news is net a porter deliver for only £13 so I can still get my fashion fix.

Posting from my phone so really difficult to post to indivuals, sorry.

shopafrolic · 08/06/2013 08:16

Leather lovely to get to know you better. In a hurry, but wanted to say that as a child of a father who worked away for up to a year at a time, I wish we'd all had the opportunity to go with him. Children are very resilient I think. My DS is 2.5 so I don't have personal experience yet.
My dad lived in the US for a long time and I love the people there. Warm and welcoming, especially to Brits! Vegas is a fun city - I've had some memorable corporate trips there!
Love the sound of your wardrobe too x
