That's a lovely dress Faddy and perfect for a garden party Congrats on your wedding.

There are some similar ones on yoox. None look as nice no doubt due to yoox's awful photography!

Paris the dress is a real statement. I like it but agree about not sure what to wear with - probably your black jacket would be better? And keep everything v pared down to let the dress do the talking. Were you considering caged sandals as per what the model is wearing?

Good shopping Anni!

I like the skirt Shop - what sort of length is it? It is hard to tell from website. I would like similar but it would have to be knee length.

Been meaning to link this Similar (ish) to the McQueen one??

QueenCadbury · 04/06/2013 13:32

Dd had her 2nd settling in session today so I did what I do best and went shopping. I returned the gap tote in preparation for ordering the saltwaters but then found my perfect leather tote in john lewis so bought that! Can't link as it's not online and it definately wasn't in store last time I was there. It's just plain navy so not very exciting but will fit all the dc stuff in it and most importantly is that there's a zip pocket for purse and phone otherwise I spend hours scrabbling around looking for them. So not really sure I can get the saltwaters yet.

Great anniversary ideas. I would absolutely love to go back to New Zealand where we had our honeymoon but can't really leave the dc for that long I suppose Grin!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 04/06/2013 13:45

Oooh, there's nothing like asking the stylish ladies of MNV for anniversary suggestions! Still reeling from Dry's fabulous ones. Unfortunately our anniversary falls during quite a busy time in the season for us, but Paris, as her name suggests, is always a good idea! I can be in Paris in 2 trains from home, Novice's suggestion of George V appeals and, as my anniversary is mid-September, just think of the AW13 purchasing possibilities...

It may have to be done.

Anni hope you fall in love with the Newburys and one pair fit perfectly. I love mine, although they arrived just before the sunshine, so they've not had an outing yet (I just visit them in their box from time to time). Pleased you've lost your Wang virginity - I can't tell you how many pieces I've coveted that have sold out in my size. I'm not in the Wang Gang yet.

Shop I'll post/pin a pic of DD2 in her Chloe trilby when it arrives and maybe one of me in it too. She also has the coolest pair of Very French Gangsters sunglasses, which I would totally steal if they fit me.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 04/06/2013 13:53

MrsR You're right about the black jacket I think. The shoes I've got are caged but don't go as high as the ankle. I haven't got any jewellery to go with the dress so wouldn't wear any!

Queen The bag sounds perfect. Cost per wear and all that! Shame about the Saltwaters, though the bag will be more useful. I have to remind myself in this weather that it won't last long or else I'd buy waaay to many summer clothes.

Ujjayi · 04/06/2013 13:56

Hi all Smile

Just popping in quickly. Am busy with last bits for my exhibition so not much time to MN. Will come back later to peruse everyone's lovely purchases. Had despatch email from Swedish Hasbeens so hoping they arrive by thursday as we are going to Bath for neice's wedding on friday. On that note: any recommendations for restaurants and stores to check out?

Marsha - thanks for your pm. Very useful indeed and the way I was feeling too. Will reply later.

santamarianovella · 04/06/2013 14:11

That dress is gorgeous faddy, hope you find it in your size.

ani, I have been thinking about the Newbury a lot, I like the grey ones.

All your anniversaries ideas sound lovely,DH was away on our anniversary this year,I might show him dryamazing list.

AmberNectarine · 04/06/2013 14:22

Not sure what it's called ujjayi, but there's a little centre near Jamie's Italian with lots of unusual shops it is. Great for a mooch. Bath has great shops anyway - I like Mimi Noor for denim.

foxysocks · 04/06/2013 14:31

shopping is bath is lush. maze is lovely - they have a bristol boutique too, v dangerous.

shop i don't think it's too short but it is short. mine rides up a bit when i wear with opaques, not tried with bare legs yet. i love a short skirt though, so not a prob!

it's DHs bahamas trip next week. i might have to do some strategic ordering so i have nice bits to open whilst he is away. where the actual F are all the sales though?! it's practically Mid-June!

shopafrolic · 04/06/2013 14:46

Mmmm - will pass on the Wang skirt then - basically need the longer version, but in an Autumn colour and medium or large. Will wait. Have just destroyed an old pair of 7FAM jeans and turned them into shorts. They're a bit tight on the thigh when you roll up a cuff but they'll do for mooching around at home. Anything to try and get some colour on my legs!

foxysocks · 04/06/2013 14:53

sounds good re: skirt and shorts, shop. the XS was too short on me, i sized up to S and I think we are same height - 5'9

just ordered this little missoni inspired number to wear with denim shorts in these balmy summer days

OneLittleLady · 04/06/2013 15:10

I've got two weeks to decide on and get my application in for uni. I am absolutely shitting myself (sorry) am I too old? is it silly to want to go? oh god, I can't decide

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 04/06/2013 15:21

You aren't too old OneLittle! If you're still unsure about going then you can still apply for a place. If you change your mind they can't make you go.

What course are you applying for?

OneLittleLady · 04/06/2013 15:22

Creative Music Technology.......Grin

Annianni · 04/06/2013 15:24

Thanks Grumpy
In an ideal world, one pair will fit perfectly and I will then find a pair in the sales :o

Even with the 30% code, they are £271 which is too much for me to pay at the moment.

I love the grey on Shopbop Santa but they're too £££

Do it Onelittle

Annianni · 04/06/2013 15:26

Erm...

What's creative music technology? [Thick emoticon]
:o

MarshaBrady · 04/06/2013 17:14

Has everyone got the new pinterest site? I do wish they wouldn't change things .

I hear they are putting the envelope back with the lovely red dot soon too on mn. Otherwise how will we hysterically alert each other?! (the hysterical bit is probably just me Grin)

Drywhiteplease · 04/06/2013 17:31

Need to read p 9 and 10 but Grumpy if you go to Paris, I'd have dinner
here.......... My friend, who lived in Paris for a few years, really recommends it. Fantastic history, built in 18th c, eventually became a restaurant, lots of literary/arty types frequented it in 19c, and there's a mirror with scratches where the mistresses would test out the diamonds given to them by their rich lovers! (Novice could cause some damage!Grin )

Barbie1 · 04/06/2013 17:49

A shy wave...
Hi, can I please join you?

I need a few expert opinions on a few things and you fashionable lot seem to be the people in the know!

Currently living in Paris after living in Dubai for 4 years, I say living in Paris but we are just about to relocate to Korea next week!

For the last four years I've either been pregnant or breast feeding so have lived in maxi dresses and flats. Paris was the ideal place to lose the baby weight, 4lb of target weight which would make me 8.5 stone and a petite 5'3.

I have accumulated lots of lovely pieces and have a bag collection most people would be Envy of (not a boast by the way Blush) however I'm lacking the basics to put all the lovely pieces together and create a 'look'

Before flying to Korea I have two days shopping in London planned and a budget of 5k.

I haven't been able to make the most of the shops here in Paris as I have a one year old and a three year old who sadly don't share my love of shopping Wink

This is where you ladies come in. As I only have 24 hours to get my wardrobe sorted I was wondering if you could advise/ share opinions and generally guide me a little.

If this isn't the right place I apologies now Smile

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 04/06/2013 17:56

Hi Barbie. You have come to the right place Grin.

I'm not from London so someone else will have to step in there but for developing a 'look' have you tried Pinterest?

Barbie1 · 04/06/2013 18:00

Hi Smile
Pinterest done, and net a porter basket filled to the grad total ok 6k Blush desperately hoping some of it goes down in the upcoming sale.

I have lived in London so know where I should be going my problem is I can't quite believe I'm back and below pre baby weight. I still look for bigger sizes and things to cover me up.

Barbie1 · 04/06/2013 18:02

Sorry for typos Blush I phone and patting small child too sleep is not the best combo!

OneLittleLady · 04/06/2013 18:03

anni it's based around music production, lots of work in studios and such like. There's also a lot of performance based work, so pretty much writing and performing music, recording songs and stuff in the studio etc Grin

OneLittleLady · 04/06/2013 18:03

also, welcome barbie Smile

shopafrolic · 04/06/2013 18:06

Welcome Barbie what a lovely opportunity for a good shop!
When you say lots of lovely pieces..... what type of things do you have, and what type of things do you need?
I would suggest heading for one of the department stores, Liberty, Harrods, Selfridges etc. It might even be the case that if you call ahead and explain your situation and budget that they would make a member of staff available to assist you.

The things that have been most helpful to me since I first joined this thread - understanding which colours suit me, gaining a better understanding of fabrics so that I don't buy too much synthetic rubbish. Identifying the gaps in my wardrobe e.g. tees, jeans, jackets, flat shoes (if that suits your lifestyle). There are loads of great outfit ideas on Pinterest. Feel free to follow my boards if you think they might be useful.....

I lost weight a few years ago and am still suprised when smaller sizes fit!

You and I are the same height and size. Mostly I still stay quite covered up but now wear more fitted clothes. I also tend to stick to certain colours and styles so that most of my clothes go together.

Can you link to your Pinterest board?
