hi. what size should I buy. I measure 28 and a half round the back and 35 round the boob. thanks

Cartoontrickster - Start with a 28F and sizes around that. So 28E, F, FF, and possibly 30E and F. All depends on the brand, style and exact cut. If you're not particularly padded around the torso you may find a 30 more comfortable but given that you're so close to a 28 I think the 28 will be a better fit.

thanks I am finding that my 30 back bras are a little big. especially freya ones, do they generally come up big?
I love Mimi holiday bras, in the sale obvs! but find them an awful fit.

Alice, I bet if you scoop you will find that cup doesn't fit :)

Katymac - that's a bit odd. Did you lean forward or pull your breasts in to the cup before you got DH to try and do it up? I'm wondering if it was a cuppage in the way issue maybe?

Report
KatyMac · 07/05/2013 18:44

I sort of lent forward and wiggled a bit so it felt right & DH really, really struggled

General info If anyone is looking for cleavage the curvy Kate elegance is er 'in your face'!!

I scooped, back fat gone, hello bulging boobs... I give up! If I ever find the right bra that at the very least lifts my boobs from my waist I am going to put a pick on my profile, very fed up.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/05/2013 20:46

That does suggest that you are heading the right way with the 34 though - I would do another session but this time start with say a 34G. Put it on and scoop very thoroughly. Now, once the fit is right all that back fat will stay in ( you've seen how it works on the current bra!)

Depending on the bra, if the cup is too small scooping either just won't work (and it'll stay at the armpits/back) or it will come away from the back and escape out the front. Depends on how low the bra is. So, if after you try to scoop you either have armpit bulges, backfat or quadboob, go up another cup.

Out of interest - what brand were you trying in Debenhams? Their own brand, Gorgeous, is a bit of an unpredictable mare size wise.

Thank you Sorrel

It looks niceSmile

Any other suggestions? I have a 20% off code for figleaves and would like to order a few to try!

SorrelForbes · 08/05/2013 11:36

Hmmm, just had a look on Figleaves for your size (32FF?). There's the Fantasie Rebecca which many people like. Personally, I don't get on with Fantasie, Freya or Panache!

I like the Masquerade Rhea but it might be too decorated if you're looking for a smooth bra? What about the Curvy Kate Daily Boost?

The Fauve Maya is a lovely bra too (sadly I outgrew my 30G and had to sell it!)

Could I ask some advice please? I have a bra that is supposed to fit, but every day I get horrid red marks everywhere- the band and cups, some days its really sore! Should I try to find another bra as this doesn't fit or is it normal?

Also, I need a push up bra in 32F- does anywhere sell them?

Debenhams Gorgeous bra sizing has gone completely nuts - I know it has a reputation for coming up small but this is insane. I tried on 10 bras. I'm normally a 30G, more or less. I had a 32G that wouldn't do up, a 30H that pulled 4 inches away from my back, a bunch of 30G that were too large in the cup but wouldn't even do up in 30FF never mind the cup size, two 32FF that were far too small in the cup and pulled 6 inches away from my body, but that I could've fit a friend in with me in 32G and had cups too big in 30G.... needless to day I didn't buy anything.

OnTheNingNangNong you would expect to have some marks web you take a bra off, similar to sock marks or the marks left by a waistband. However, they shouldn't be sore. Are any of your bras worse than others?

When you say push up do you want cleavage or lift (cakes on a plate look)?

Thanks Sorrel I have one bra from Debenhams that is a killer for me, leaves marks for hours. It probably is just a rubbish bra.

I want a bra that pushes my boobs together a bit, they're quite far apart and in a lot of tops it looks silly. But I also don't look like I have any boobs at all. I'm quite self conscious about it.

Naoko that reflects my experience - I think they have massive quality control issues

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 14:24

I daren't buy any bra in Debenhams without trying them on first as the sizes vary so much. Out of around 20 that I tried on last time I was in there, ONE fitted properly and was the only one I bought.

OnTheNingNangNong As you can from some other posts on here, Debenhams quality and sizing can be a bit random!

Try the Bravissimo Satine, the Freya Deco and maybe one of the Curvy Kate plunge styles? Elegance?

onthening as per post up thread, I can vouch for curvy Kate elegance and the tempt me for cleavage.

thanks for your tips Sorrel

I have placed a (very expensive) order for FOUR bras! One has to fit me right? (hopefully NOT the most expensive one)

KatyMac · 08/05/2013 21:10

I've ordered this one in 32FF/G/GG & I'll see how I do; if any of them fit, I'll take them & the 30J back to the shop to see what else will fit

Report
StatisticallyChallenged · 08/05/2013 22:14

I suspect they will be quite a lot too small in the cup KatyMac. I would take the 30Js back though if you can't do them up. Bravissimo are generally very good at sorting out any errors in fittings.

I agree with SC. I'm a 30GG and wear a 30G in the Deco.

My very old 34FF Freya fits in the cup (sort of) the back rides up but the wires fit against my chest Sad

Do I have to send the website ones back to the website?

The poor lady on Monday was really struggling tbh

The info on the Bravissimo website suggests that you can only return Internet orders by post. Someone on here may know different though.

When you tried your 30s on back to front, did they feel painful or just tight/snug/supportive? What was the issue with doing them up the right way? You physically can't reach around behind your back to the clasps? You could try with the bra sitting slightly lower down your body and the pulling it up a few inches to the correct place (right beneath your boobs).
This does sound like a practice issue but can understand how frustrating it must be!

When your 32s arrive, make sure you test the band first, back to front.

Bear in mind that you may be a 30 in some brands and a 32 in others. TBH if Bravissimo fitted you as a 30J I would expect you to need around a 32HH to get the same fit in the cup.
