BeetleBugBaby · 18/07/2013 15:17

Hi guys sorry to barge in but my measurements are 32 under and 38 over bust (measured whilst leaning over)
I'm in a 32C,wrong that,isn't it? :o

RubberBullets · 18/07/2013 15:23

Try a 32E

eastendfareast · 18/07/2013 15:44

I read this thread the other day more out of curiosity than anything and decided tonight while to measure myself (am in Asia, it's late). Well, I've been wearing a 34 B for several years and always thought that was fine as I have smallish and fairly pert boobs (also measured in M&S...) Measurements show that I should be in either a 28DD or 30C. That sounds crazy - am I right as measurements are 29 back and 33 or maybe 34 cup. Am I doing this right?

have just spent a fortune on new bras and live in a place where women are teeny tiny and don't have much boob so will be fun trying to find the right size!

Knittingnovice · 18/07/2013 15:53

Ok so after posting on the m&s thread I decided to measure myself as I am wearing a 36G BF bra which I bought 5 years ago while feeding DS (am now feeding DC3). I have gone from an 18/20 to a 14 and measure 31 underneath and 41 around the spaniels ears so this would make me a 32 what??

RubberBullets · 18/07/2013 15:55

It's not crazy, it just proves how skewed people's perceptions have become through years of misinformation. M&S say I'm a 40E whereas I'm actually a 36K Hmm

Try looking on Bratabase to see people in those sizes.

RubberBullets · 18/07/2013 15:57

Try 30H or 32G as starting points but also sizes above and below.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/07/2013 15:59

Eastendfareast yes, try a 28D, 28DD, 30D and 30C. Have a look at these ladies

Knittingnovice · 18/07/2013 16:01

Thanks rubberbullets, am prob going to head down to Brighton to bravissimo over the school holidays. So will use that as my starting point!!

eastendfareast · 18/07/2013 16:03

Thanks all. Will trail the streets of Hong Kong to find a bra that fits!!

MissStrawberry · 18/07/2013 16:52

Need to feed the zoo and the kids so be back later.

What measurements do I need to give to get my size worked out properly please?

Will read all the thread once everyone is fed.

NumTumDeDum · 18/07/2013 17:05

Hi, I've been trying to measure according to the guide. I worked oyt I was a 32h. But having ordered some, I found I couldn't do them up even though I am definitely measuring 32. The cups were gaping a bit but I put this down to having measured just before I was due to bf. This is the main problem, they change size constantly. I braved Debenhams yesterday to swap them and tried a 34 which I could do up but still seemed firm and a g cup. The cups gaped a little so I then tried a FF which seemed to fit. But I'm not sure now. Should I have stuck with the 32 and got bra extenders?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/07/2013 17:08

Which brand were the 32s

CelticPromise · 18/07/2013 18:13

MissStrawberry measure tightly around your ribcage under your boobs, then lean over to 90 degrees and measure loosely around your dangling boobs. Glamorous!

Pretty sure we don't need fake ID to buy bras, they're not age restricted. Or are you suggesting I should store said fake ID in my bra? No room for that, they fit too well!

A bad day.
36" underbust (though I think I am better in a 34)
53" bust. I want to cry just writing it.
Tell me that's not a 36 L.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/07/2013 18:53

[hugs] on measurements it would be a 36L I'm afraid. But you might need a 34 for support, it's quite common. There is another poster (hotair I think) who is the same sort of size. The only bra I am aware of which goes to a true L cup (not american and therefore missing all the doubles) is the Bravissimo Alana. They also have quite a few others which go up to K/KK and run bigger in the cup so are definitely worth trying. What are you wearing just now and how does it fit?

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 18/07/2013 18:53

Been meaning to recommend these to any wide-root ladies. Supportive, give a nice shape and comfortable. Also stretchy enough to accommodate an uneven shape. And cheap as chips! I had to go up a cup size though (usually 32F/FF and found the G was better).

melezka · 18/07/2013 18:58

Panache Tango in a 34J - and spilling. I've known it's too small but I've been in that river in Egypt.
Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/07/2013 19:02

You might not need as big as the L - at bigger cups the cup size measurement does become less accurate so it could easily be smaller. If you scoop in to your current bra, how much overspill do you have and how does it feel otherwise?

melezka · 18/07/2013 19:08

I have always scooped. However, what may be odd is that although they are clearly hooj, the last time the doctor examined them she was clearly surprised at how "empty" they seemed - as in, inside they feel like they are made up of a bunch of strings and a little amount of fat covering them. Not lush-feeling (as I guess you might expect from the size).
There is a definite quadruple breast. Muffiny.

lurcherlover · 18/07/2013 19:10

I might have a challenge for you ladies. Bras are never comfy on me, and I strongly suspect I'm wearing completely the wrong size. But measuring is tricky as I have pectus excavatum (my sternum is sunken in) so bras, pretty obviously, never lie flat on my chest. It also distorts the shape of my boobs too as they don't sit "flat" on my ribs iykwim (google will show you pics, although I'm not as bad a case as some poor souls on there). I have small boobs, so I've always worn a 36A. This is what M&S measured me as. Should I try measuring myself with your method? Do you think it will work for my funny-shaped chest?
