I can't fasten them back to front at my ribs or lower; I have scrapes round my side from the wires

I can't do them up back to front as I have fibromyalgia and I don't have that much control of my fingers at that angle

I feel such a wuss; but if DH can't do them up at all, I don't know how the lady did

Jaz Dalek I usually wear a 30 band in most makes but recently I went to M&S and in their make the 30 is too tight and I bought 32 which is fine. so bought a 32dd instead of 30E.

I find if the bras come up too high at the front then the middle bit may dig in on my right side.

Can your back get wider as you age?

KatyMac Ah, I'm sorry, I hadn't realised about the fibromyalgia. Apologies.

Do you know though, if the lady in Bravissimo could do them up then so can your DH! I have to really pull hard on some of my bands to get the hooks done up but once I've achieved 'hookage' and then scooped like a mad women then all feels fine!

Hello - I'm 33 round the body and 41 round the boob. Can anyone advise me what size I should be wearing (most of my bras are 34/36 C)? And can anyone recommend a cotton bra, because I have tedious problems with eczema.

Thanks.

Report
CelticPromise · 09/05/2013 10:06

MrsBodger I'd start with a 32G. Surely you are spilling out of your C cups?

I can't think of a cotton bra off the top of my head. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can recommend.

Thanks. I'm all over the place - in every sense . . .

I have been smugly ignoring these threads as I was fitted last year at Bravissimo. However, I am more and more aware of how much the bras dig in to me, and by last night I was in agony. I have been wearing a 32ff, and measured myself today at 34 under and 43 over (hanging down, nice).
What size should I wear that might actually be comfortable?

Fab41 · 09/05/2013 13:39

I should maybe mention too that I also have fibromyalgia and I can only manage to fasten it in front and then turn it round.

Fab41 - try 34G and sizes surrounding. 32FF is probably at least two cups too small and if your own underbust measurement is accurate (it sould be tight) then no wonder you're uncomfortable. Can you fasten the 32 round you comfortably if you do it back to front? If so the band is probably right and you need to go up a couple of cup sizes. If the band is genuinelt really too tight than try one up on that too.

Thank you, I will order a few to try.

Thank yous to Sorrel Statistically and Hanging I've ordered a Curvy Kate bra and will never bother with the pain of Debenhams and their rubbish bra QC again.

That doesn't sound right chipstick - just feeling tight is kind of usual for a size change but the rest not so much. Where did you get fitted and can you give your measurements - //thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk has a fitting section explaining how to measure.

Good evening ladies, I've followed (rather haphazardly) a couple of the previous threads and ummed and ahhhd over measuring because I'm currently bf ... But my current soft (and very cosy) bf bra's are driving me nuts because I find myself making the shoulder straps tighter because I know the back band is too loose.

My measurements are under: 35 ish under and about 43.5 round.

Also can you please recommend any wired bf brands? Or places to buy them - it will have to be interwebs because the choice here in Germany is pitiful.
Thank you!

Could I have some advice, on my last (unsuccessful) bra shopping trip I was advised "the only bra that would help give you a bust would be a mastectomy bra" by a lovely woman in M&S.

I have now reverted to bandeau tops instead of bras, I have very little breast tissue left after bf for 2 years but have shrunk from a 36C immediately after dd to a 32A according to said M&S lady.

I'm not fussed about looking like I have boobs but would like a little lift with minimal padding as all bras gape due to the lack of breast tissue.

Any ideas anyone?

Measure yourself fated, firmly directly under the bust and more loosely over the largest part of your boobs while leaning forwards, and I'm sure someone will be along to advise on what you should be wearing with your measurements :)

SorrelForbes · 10/05/2013 00:13

fated what are your under and across bust measurements?

Given M&S reputation, I'll have a punt on, ooh, 28C/D I reckon...

I have a quick question!

I'm currently in an M&S 36DD, but suspect this is wrong. Measuring myself when wearing a bra, I'm 34 under and 39 over, making me a 34E (is that right?), but using the dangling method I'm 33/42, which seems unfeasible! What would that make me?

There's a sale on Freya bras at the moment, and I have in my basket a 32F and a 34E. Would that be about right?

itsMYNutella try a 34GG, 34G, 36G, 36FF and possibly some more sizes around that region (e.g. 34FF, 36F).

I'm not that knowledgable about BF bras but I think Bravissimo stock underwired ones.

SorrelForbes · 10/05/2013 09:13

herbaceous. Some people do have a big difference between their upright and dangling measurements! Mine are 38 and 41 which isn't as big a difference as yours. It's definitely worth trying a wide range is sizes and styles as you'll probably be different sizes from brand to brand.

Start with sizes around your bigger measurements as your 36DD is probably squashing you and giving an incorrect result. If you scoop whilst wearing your 36DD do you get overspill?

Start with a 32GG, 32G, 34G, 34FF. Make sure you sort the band first by trying them on back to front. See the blog for more advice and trying.

Thanks! It was one of those online 'hurry hurry' sales, so I panicked and bought a 32F and a 34E. Let's see how that goes!

While I'm on, I often find that bra straps fall off my shoulders, as if the bra is too wide. Is that a function of wearing too big a back size?

herbaceous Not to worry, you may be lucky. Bra buying is very hit and miss, especially when you're trying to first establish your 'ball park' size.

Yes, straps falling down is very often a sign of a band that's too big.

When you get your new bras, try them on as per the blog. Make sure you scoop vigorously, taking all the flesh from right round the back into the cup. If you get any overspill or bluge then go up a cup (or more). Good luck.

It's not as bad as it was. When I was about 9st 7, so pretty thin, I just bought 36B bras as I thought that was 'what one did'. They used to come undone on their own they were so loose.

Report
KatyMac · 10/05/2013 16:57

My new bras arrived & will be going back

32FF - way way too small in the cup
32G - too small in the cup & the wires don't go near my skin
32GG - cup size getting there but wires about 1 inch off me

32 is tight enough that it twinges when I breath in

I also got a 32K (in an Ellie because it was pretty and the only one in stock) and it was way, way, way too bi in the cup

so back to the drawing board
