Thanks married and yes, I did think the Sophie was loose on back, so ordered 28GG, H & HH. As it happened, they arrived not long after I posted here (excellent service!!) but none of them really fit - they were still quite wrinkled/gathered around the bottom of the cup, with the gore far off my chest. However, the 28GG was the closest - if I pulled it 'in' so the gore was flat, it wasn't wrinkled anymore. I figured I should try a smaller cup... So those 5 are on their way back & I have ordered 28G & F (& their 30 counter-parts, just for comparison) to hopefully get a bra that doesn't turn my decent-ish cleavage into one fat-looking amorphous lump... Or is that too much to ask for??!!

I hate bra shopping!!

So sorry Celtic - I've been there too so I understand.

KatoPotato - try somewhere like one of the big department stores(Debenhams etc) for trying on. If you have a Bravissimo nearby they are your best bet.

Online - try Brastop, mycurvesandme, bravissimo, amazon, leia....

Don't worry married if I didn't want to talk about it, I wouldn't. Smile

Too much time for me when I wasn't reading books or newspapers just MN app on my phone, all the time. I find this place a bit addictive and can lose hours on it.

Ok so found this thread after posting on a bikini thread...
Had thought I was a 32a after having my daughter, measured myself with a dodgy online guide that said to take both measurements standing straight.

Just measured myself using the method on the blog and at 28 underbust and 33 over am I right in thinking that could be 28DD?

CelticPromise · 03/05/2013 23:19

Dead right Tilly. Cup size is harder to do by numbers and sizes vary so try a size either side too and follow the fitting guidance on the blog. happy shopping Smile

Looks like you were right,no wonder 32a was loose on me if I should have a 28 back. Actually a bit shocked and annoyed at how I've been advised in the past because I've never had a bra that did much for me!

I think my boobs are finally settling down with the bfing (he's 6mths in a wk so you'd have thought they'd have been their 'proper' size already surely??!!). I'm measuring a good 2" smaller than when I hit the bra intervention thread a few wks back. So I'm definitely a 30"chest & I think FF/G cup (39" just).

Glad the original bras I ordered didn't arrive/took ages, as I'd have spent £30 on a bra that would've been too big already!!

Ok, I am having some success with the Pour Moi? St Tropez full cup, I now have it in black, spice (lovely deep red) and latte, and may get this one next www.very.co.uk/pour-moi-st-tropez-full-cup-bra/1087627153.prd?istCompanyId=3bdc6c74-7f2d-4594-839e-e5b39b2661fb&istItemId=lpiimtmx&istBid=t&affsrc=acquisition&aff=google&cm_mmc=google--PLA_Women--Branded+Bras-_-uZZlfcw4_19027688921&prdToken=/p/prod14708036-sku25247874-AI&browseToken=/q/239em&totalResults=1

I still have some back and underarm fat, but think this is just me. My usual back size is 34, and my cup around a GG, but have this in 32H. It looks much better than the pictures I think - it is very suppoerive, and quite a 'perky' shape.

Worth a try........ and you can get them new on ebay for about £18/20......

I am wondering if I am doing something really wrong with this new bra malarkey.

I have been wearing a 34C (as fitted by Debenhams about 6m after I stopped bf) but they aren't right - I'm getting diggy in bits at the underarm side of the underwires so I guess they're a bit small. But sometimes I'm not quite filling the tops of the cups, IYSWIM.

I came onto S&B having seen the bra intervention threads in Active Convos.... Using the better bra guide fitting advice - "hanging/dangling" and all Grin I was coming out at a 30E.

I spent ages trying on 30E's and F's in Debenhams the other week and none were comfy, or fitted right. The cups were ok but the bands massive. I came out red under my boobs where the too tight wires were, and I was getting massive back fat issues, particularly at the bit where the band meets the strap. It looked hideous. Also the gore bits would not lay flat. Tried a variety of t-shirt bra's and plunge styles on. Last week I had an equally unsuccessful trip trying on a 32 band ones - same back fat issues.

So, what am I doing wrong here???

blondieminx I'm up early so will have a go!

OK, if you're measuring at a 30E using the guides linked to on here then I'm not surprised that a 34C isn't really working. The cup volume is roughly equal to that of a 30E however, you say that the 30Es and Fs you tried on didn't work either.

Massive back fat and a gore that won't lay flat is a sure sign of a cup that's too small. The gaping at the top of the cup suggests that the style is wrong for you. What happens if you scoop when wearing your 34C? Do you get quadraboob/overspill?

You will get red marks from a correctly fitting bra but the marks should all be in one place if that makes sense? A band thats too big will ofgten leave multiple marks from moving around your back.

I'd suggest starting again! If you can't get to a Bravissimo, go back to Debenhams and try some 30 bands on back to front. If they fit as per the guide on the blog then stick with the 30 (bear in mind that some bras inthe Debenhams Gorgeous brand come up very tight in the band so may need to size up. I'd say to stick with a 30 in most other brands though). Once the back's sorted, try on lots of different styles in an E, E, F and maybe even an FF. Remember to scoop all that back fat/underarm spillage into the cup. Be vigorous!

blondieminx not an expert by any means, but did you try other styles, like balconnette bras & so on? I'm currently bfing and have no clue what size my boobs will be when I stop, but I found that pre-DC, my 32DDs were digging in at the sides & so on. I also measure 30 now. I think that I have quite 'close together' boobs & perhaps a lower, narrow gore might work for me (will wait & see...). If you've had no luck with t-shirt bras in different sizes, perhaps try different styles?

Sorry - that's not v clear & a bit 'teaching granny to suck eggs' isn't it? Blush
