Somebody up the thread (sorry, too lazy to check) asked about how long bras last. I've had mine for years, but I handwash them - the ones I put in the washing machine, even on a low temp cycle, give out much faster. For the record, I live in Lepel (Fiore and Athena styles), the only brand I've found that fits and feels comfortable on my tiny and relatively wide-set boobage.

Thanks sorrel and chunkychicken.

Right, The office is a short tube ride from Covent Garden and I have a friend who works nearby, we're both going to go and have a trying on session there! Will report back, think I'm just a strange shape haha!

I went to Joh Lewis in Norwich and the ladies there were amazing

So helpful and kind.....only 1 small(ish) problem they had no bras in my size

Then I went to Boux Avenue - where I was a completely different size but nothing really fitted (back riding up, cutting under arms, hanging off my shoulders)

So if I venture out tomorrow & go to Bravissimo will they have 32 GG/H/HH do you think or do I need to look on-line?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/05/2013 16:32

You'll have no issues getting that size in Bravissimo.

Boux were undoubtedly trying to put you in the wrong size - they use the old +4/5 method for fitting I believe.

She put me in a 36........& then said goodness that is loose Wink but even in my size the bit under the arm was very high & the back was riding up

The JL ladies were so nice

I went bra shopping with teenage dd.She measured 27/28 round the bra band.So they told us to get a 32b[she's size 8 normally].I measured myself while i was there and bra band was 35 and they told me i was a 40?.Bearing in mind i am a standard size 14 i was a bit shocked[normally wear 36d].When questioned by me the assistant said this is the way they are trained. This is totally wrong surely?

It's the old fashioned method of adding 4/5 inches and yes, it is very wrong.

Where was it?

Have you read the blog? I'd be inclined to fit your DD yourself but at a guess, she is probably more like a 28E/F

Report
teta · 06/05/2013 07:28

It was M&S Statistically.Dd has basically gravitated from an A to not quite a B cup so doesn't really need much support. She also doesn't like anything too tight on and said that the 30 inch bras were too tight. So we did end up coming away with 32 b's.

teta. A 28 back with a big enough cup would definitely not be (or feel too tight) for her. As a size 8 it is highly unlikely she's a 32. I'm a 12 and wear a 30 (and measure 29.5" under bust). M&S tried to put me in a 36D. I am a 30GG.

My advice would be to return the 32B and never let anyone in M&S measurement again Grin. If it helps, my size 6/8 teenage niece wears a 28DD/E.

? 'measure her'

I'm sure you're right Sorrel.Though i remember i couldn't wear anything too tight at that age as the backs irritated me.I wore a similar size and was then a 10[probably equivalent to an 8 now].

QQ for Married & co - you've mentioned liking the fit on Cleo unpadded styles for younger looking designs on large cup/small band size combos - do they fit basically true to size, and how is that in relation to say the Cleo Juna? I find that good on the cup but stretchy in the band.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/05/2013 08:41

But what cup size was she trying in the 30?

If she only tried say a B, then it would feel too tight because the lack of cup space means that the breasts basically "steal" fabric from the back, creating an illusion of tightness. I'm a 30HH roughly, if I put on say a 30G/GG it feels incredibly tight.

M&S are terrible - they tried to put me in a 36F.

They are all very high under the arms

But the lady is lovely

Not a good day at all

The lady was amazing but there was very little that fitted me at all

Oh Dear KatyMac. What did you end up with? Bravissimo are good but there are some brands (curvykate for eg) that they don't have much of so if you can tell us what worked we may be able to suggest alternatives

KatyMac · 06/05/2013 16:12

30 was very very tight - so much so that I couldn't fasten at the front & turn it round
None of the 32s enabled the wires at the front to snuggle in properly

I have 2 30J but tbh I'm not sure if I will be able to wear them simply because I can't get them on without help

this one is not my colour
in cream

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/05/2013 16:17

Have you tried fastening them the right way round? I couldn't turn most of my bras round either. Although you will find that they stretch off a bit with wear which may make it easier.

My arms can't do that really

I feel a bit Sad but I'm off out now to my mum's for tea - so that will cheer me up

Practice :) I struggled at first as I had always been a back to front girl but it is the secret. A well fitted bra really does struggle to turn round. There is a bit of a knack to it though.

By any chance did you try this or this? The first one in particular I think might be the same cut as your first link.

KatyMac · 06/05/2013 16:29

Neither of them (I didn't see either in the shop)
