hello and welcome!

OP posts:
GingerLemonTea · 11/07/2013 21:10

What would 34 under & 41/42 over make me?

Still bfeeding once or twice a day but disparate for a new bra.

OneLittleLady · 11/07/2013 21:11

34F/G I think it might depend on style which but I would try both and see which fits the best

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/07/2013 21:11

That would be a 34F/FF

GingerLemonTea · 11/07/2013 21:13

Sorry, desperate!
Thanks for quick replies.

OneLittleLady · 11/07/2013 21:16

oops, forgot about FF cups! Blush

Drywhiteplease · 11/07/2013 22:21

Statistically I think you may be right about the style.....have just been through my bra drawer and tried on other style and they fit fine, it does seem to be just the t shirt moulded styles. Will have a look at John Lewis........maybe a big online order and just try on loads. Thanks

worley · 11/07/2013 23:18

Hello.. I've read this thread over the past few days and looked in the bra guru site.. But it's taken this long to track my tape measure down.. So now I've measured I'm;
38 back and 46 bending over.. I think this makes a 38FF.. Is this correct do you think?
I hope so as fed up with having a 4 boob look by end of day when bra moves about :(

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/07/2013 23:34

IT's certainly the place to start, but make sure you know what you are looking for and that the back is firm enough. It's quite common for those of us who are a bit softer to need a back size which is smaller than we measure - in which case you would need to try a 36G/GG

Mabelface · 11/07/2013 23:50

well, got my new bra today and it scoops up all of my back fat and fits like a glove. 34JJ. fucking hell. huge.

worley · 11/07/2013 23:55

Ok.. I've just ordered 11 different bras to try! Fingers crossed they'll be worth it.. Ordered various sizes from 36g to 38f , ff and g's .. Will report back :)

SugarSpunSisters · 13/07/2013 11:28

I stupidly bought a 34 H because it was all they had in the sale at Debenhams and it seemed to fit in the shop [mad] however, the cup size is too small and im popping out of it by lunchtime.

I have a 34 J (Panache Tango II?) which is MILES too big, the central gore comes right up my breastbone and the cups way up to my armpits - and the back much tighter than others.

Now I have on a 34 HH from BraStop which seems to fit cup size, just, but the straps fall off my shoulders [mad] - I have a feeling by the end of the day I will be popping out of it. THis is the first time of wearing it.

Perhaps another make of 34J?

SorrelForbes · 13/07/2013 13:41

Anyone familiar with this company?

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 14:18

Not personally sorrel but if you take a look over on the "abrathatfits" reddit a few of them have reviewed. Generally not hugely impressed if I remember correctly

cjbk1 · 13/07/2013 14:52

I'm really confused and not a little bit cross; not blaming anyone just venting, I went to this fabled Bra Shop 21 miles away and they did measure me but she kept giving me a-cups Shock in 32 then 30 they still rode up gave armpit fat and zero cleavage but she said we all have armpit fat poked it and said "you know what'll get rid of that? exercise?" Blush
I'm a size 8 btw relevant
is this true? she wanted to order me a 30b so I let her and I bought a 32a I think £29 which I won't wear coz of the above problems I just wanted to get out if there, I told her the bras she gave me gave me a tiny pokey boob happy 12yo shape not in those words but she disagreed....
funny thing is another assistant was fawning over a lady agreeing that "you want a womanly shape you need your boobies" er yes me too....when I accidentally tried on c cups they were good but I wasn't allowed those...I'm so upset and I cldnt even cry in the car coz dd1 was using the family crying quota....Hmm
aaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!

cjbk1 · 13/07/2013 14:53

*gappy

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 15:31

BIATCH! bad bad woman. Bad fitter. Absolutely awful. What did you measure again? The armpit fat is a scooping issue but scooping only works if the back is small enough to stop it sliding back out, and the cup is big enough to actually contain it. It sounds to me like the bras she was forcing on you were neither. Personally I am fat and on a diet, but when I put a good bra on and scoop I can pretty much eliminate my armpit issues. I do have a little regroup in the loo during the day but I can live with that!

cjbk1 · 13/07/2013 15:44

just below 30 under bust& just under 34 over nips leaning forward x

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 16:03

OK, now you tried some figleaves 30DD is that right, and they weren't quite right. The cs you tried on but weren't allowed - were they 30 or 32s? And do you have any idea which ones?

cjbk1 · 13/07/2013 16:28

so I tried to order a few fig leaves but it crashed so I gave up I tried 30ds by myself but no cleavage and the cs I tried today were by esprit I believe and I tried the super dooper gel wonderbra in a c-cup by accident and it wasn't far off...I bought after Eden 32a today x

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 16:29

apart from no cleavage, how were the 30Ds you tried yourself?

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 13/07/2013 16:42

OK I'm late to the bra party but please can I get some advice on these as I'm not totally clear on the bra guru's site.

Under bust: 30.5"
Bust: 39" but is that right as I BF for 18 months so they are not as full as they used to be?

Does one measure th cups from teh actual bust size (let's say 31 in my case?) or the presumed bra size (30 or 32).

Assuming the actual that makes me one of the following:
30FF / 32FF plus I would try on an F and G cups in those bra sizes as well?

OMG I have been wearing 34/36 C/D most of my life! And my bras don't seem to fit horrendously.

In hindsight the old 'measure under the bust and add 5/6 inches' does seem very random - why would bra manufacturers base their sizing on a presumed number rather than an actual measurement?

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 16:58

You have it right Tondelayo. Basically it's not definite whether it's from the band size or the underbust, so we try both. At your measurements I would say a 30 is more likely so I would start with a 30FF and 30G and work from there. Breastfeeding/empty breasts can have a bit of an impact on the dangling measure but generally not that significant and it is a lot easier to spot a cup that is too big anyway, so start with those.

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom · 13/07/2013 16:58

Just popped by to say - and if you buy a bikini, the sort with underwired cups, you need to follow the rules on here too!

The number of bikini back straps at the beach today that were practically at the base of the neck. Ouch, ouch, ouch.

cjbk1 · 13/07/2013 17:06

re 30ds; apart from the 'ultimate strapless wtf it is wonderbra' which was very tight they were ok IIRC x

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 17:24

The Wonderbra runs small in the back - I have the ultimate strapless in a 32G and it actually fits ok despite me being a 30HH in reality. I reckon a 32GG would probably be perfect. For those of us in big norkville it's much better than the alternatives but sizing is uber weird.

I think you probably do need a 30D, maybe with the odd 30/32C depending in style and brand. Cleavage is a style issue rather than size. I used to get cleavage in everything, but now it's something I pick and choose according to outfit. You need a bra which is plunge or push up to get cleavage - the gossard superboost, wonderbra everyday t shirt, freya deco, curvy kate tempt me/elegance/wild are all worth trying. There will be others too but these spring to mind. The Bravissimo Satine is nice and runs small in the cup so may want to try the 30DD in it.
