That was to Amber re IMs, but good point also now to you too Topaz Grin

I would quite like to find the perfect pair of sneakers/trainers for spring. Not entirely sure how I would style such a thing though - I normally go more or less straight from boots to flip flops, and limp through the awkward in between period with Toms/my ageing high tops. Need to go peruse Pinterest for ideas I think.

All weekend plans thrown into disarray by minor family crisis, so we are not in London browsing shops. Another time.
Gorgeous sunny day here, but still bitter - I have thermal leggings on under my Jbrands and a thermal t-shirt under my nice lime green kettlewell one.

santamarianovella · 06/04/2013 15:26

amber, back in September I was dying to get a marant wedge trainers, and when I received an email alert from my Theresa ,I foolishly placed an order.i sent them back as soon as I got them, DH wanted to see what ?400 trainers look like and laughed when he saw them, found them too childish! He killed it for me!
He did buy me a hogan rebel trainerswww.hoganrebel.com/en/womenwhich in his opinion are nicer and more grown up,and he is right they are much better then the marant ones.and much cheaper

shopafrolic · 06/04/2013 15:29

It doesn't always work but definitely worth a try. AR are very good a getting you back to shop. When I go to other websites a targeted AR ad comes up showing all the items I've recently browsed. Blooming clever these marketing peeps. :)

Afternoon all :) went to pick up my JL order today. Mango denim shorts and havaianas for holiday plus that cheap warehouse jumper that Shop (?) linked to and a dress from damsel in a dress. Already regretting not getting matching jacket so might get it later tonight.

I also went to Russell & Bromley today and left the store fuming. I had been encouraged bought 3 pairs of blue shoes as I couldn't decide in store. The sales assistants said get them take them home and bring back the 2 you don't want. So today, I returned them. As it was a refund the manager to do it and she was just so rude, snidely questioning why I was returning the shoes and examining them after the sales assistant had already examined them. Hmm I then said at the end that I wasn't sure whether the size 3 in the shoes I am keeping are right and I might want to try the 3.5 but I couldn't find the receipt, could I check that they would still do the exchange? The cheeky cow then got all mealy mouthed and said she would have to see. Its only after I pushed back that she relented and then tried to say well she was initially reluctant because she couldn't be sure on condition of shoes. Hmm grr..

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2013 19:37

Novice grr for you. How annoying. I remember when I took back the Burberry rain boots (that wouldn't come off without help) and they cross examined the boot for ages. I felt Hmm.

Am out for a drink and not so brave, back in stella coat and Lanvin wedges. Gngng

shopafrolic · 06/04/2013 21:19

Have sold loads of bts and bobs on EBay, fingers crossed they pay!! One more item to go, lots of questions about measurements so am laid on the floor tape measure in hand. Sometimes wonder if the hassle is worth it. More wine needed I think. Enjoy your drink Marsha
Definitely trousers tomorrow for the christening, with LKB shoe boots, A&W Angold silk blouse, camel coat, and novice 's favourite scarf.
I can't wear a dress now as my knees are bruised from the fall!

Sounds like a nice outfit shop, hope you have a good time. And good luck with ebaying.

Amber I think the ash version of wedge trainers are actually the nicest, I know IM was the originator of the trend though.

I have a pair of superga, they are really comfy. Can't comment on how well they wear as only got them last summer but they seem well made. I do like the retro style trainers, Foxy those star ones are great.

Thought I would link to a few of my recent purchases as have been posting on my phone so not able to. May seem like a lot but much is going back. Interestingly, a lot from atterley road - I have fallen for their sales tricks!

comfy whistles dress

trousers - need advice on what to wear with these, to make them less tracksuity!

whistles jumper bought from oxfam online.

This looks like quite a nice sweatshirt, I already have far too many grey sweatshirts!!

coated skinnies - these went back as not flattering from the back!

this skirt was a bit tight and also does not suit my life right now, though I think it would have looked nice with a grey sweatshirt and wedge trainers.

Shoe ban was broken by these Interestingly they were cheaper when I bought them yesterday.

The Frugality blog has really influenced my purchases recently, bought these jeans (also cheaper) and I love the jumper she is wearing in this post - boden, surprisingly.

Hmm, seems like quite a lot listed like that...not sure I will be keeping the jeans or shoes either but they have not arrived yet. Best get back to focussing on my list!!

shopafrolic · 06/04/2013 22:11

Lovely things MrsR
Idea for the trousers (came courtesy of Dona last year)

Love the sweatshirt too (but am surrounded by grey sweatshirts)
The Frugality blog looks great - have started to follow. Thanks. :)

I need to make a quick jeans sizing decision (marsha has already been bored by this one via PM! sorry Mx)

does anyone have the goldsign slim crop style jeans? do they come up the same as other goldsign jeans? I am a 24 in virtual high rise, will I be a 24 in those too or shall I go 25 like my j brands? i don't want them super tight, argh, maybe i should order both to try on and suck up paying to return...

Flowers
foxysocks · 07/04/2013 11:28

decision made - have ordered both to try on just so I'm 100% sure on sizing.

www.shopatanna.com/shop-Goldsign-10/W2320133-Whitesand-slim-crop-in-White-10

have had these pinned/bookmarked for over a month so a well deliberated and considered purchase

I just got the last pair of 24s and 25s and will send back the ones that don't work.

MarshaBrady · 07/04/2013 12:08

Good thinking Foxy. Well done for getting last two!

Glorious day, am in the garden lots of pretty things coming to life.

Wonder if we can call it yet? Happy Spring (day) lovely, stylish mnvers. Well today at least.

MarshaBrady · 07/04/2013 12:12

MrsR looking forward to checking out your links. Phone is so slow to load.

foxysocks · 07/04/2013 12:15

gorgeous sunshine today, isn't it marsha? DH taken the DCs for a bike ride. still cold in the wind though, brrr.

glad i got both (I think). just couldn't be sure that 24s wouldn't be too small as I'll wear them slightly differently to the high rise style.

MarshaBrady · 07/04/2013 12:22

Definitely it's so hard to know. I have two MiH Paris in the same size and one is smaller, which is odd. Might be due to different colours.

It is a bit chilly, but am ok if I sit in sun and don't move Grin.

foxysocks · 07/04/2013 12:27

i just hope they are thick and not see through. baaad look.

I have a friend who may want the 25s if i don't. otherwise postage is at least less that the petrol/parking to get there and try on!

am drinking coffee inside. may go for a local boutiques browse later although they are all full of polyester which means I haven't bought anything in over two years. can you believe it? i would love to support local shops but can't if they stock poor options.

QueenCadbury · 07/04/2013 12:39

Isn't it just so lush to have sunshine? We went for a walk yesterday and everyone was so smiley (maybe laughing at ds in his Spider-Man costume!). For 2 days now I haven't had to wear the North face-hurrah! I'm even in short sleeves and it's so nice to get excited about wearing spring stuff.

I'm shocked that company's put the price of things up if they've been languishing in your basket-it's just so sneaky.

No new purchases for me. Only 2 weeks to go till having my colours done and then dh has been warned I will be on a shopping spree! He saw my primark bag yesterday and because it was only £6 he now thinks I should always spend that on a bag. Ha ha, in his dreams!

Drywhiteplease · 07/04/2013 12:41

Marsha weathers lovely.......mid 20s.
MrsR Reece peanut cups ( and ice. Creams causing problems!!!) I found Dukan easy for me,because I haven't got a very sweet tooth, (but I did use sweetener. ) and I love savoury stuff. Have kept weught off...just really watch carbs ( not easy on hols in US). The first week was tough but the dramatic results spurred me on.

foxysocks · 07/04/2013 12:47

ooo shop forgot to say, tried the cookies clearing but it made no diff. I also tweeted asos to ask why it had gone up, they said prices change all the time. annoying! means i won't order for a while now and will consider other options when I would have def ordered this weekend otherwise.

BrandyAlexander · 07/04/2013 15:33

Hello all! Lovely jeans foxy.Smile

Today started off in a less the glamorous way....dd vomited up her breakfast so there I was at 8am mopping and then on my hands and knees cleaning up more sick than I have ever seen before (and this includes anything at uni! Shock). We have a solid oak floor which means I had to use a cloth to go between the joints of the panels. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Dh turns green at the sight of sick and starts barfing himself so this lovely task was left all to me.Hmm sorry for the tmiGrin

I managed to put that start behind me (dd is fine) and wear that warehouse top that I bought after Shop linked it on hereThanks. Cheap as chips and looks nice. It's an indigo kind of blue so I am wearing it with these banana republic skinny cords which cost me $20 when I was in the US in January.Smile

I think I have called the start of Spring (although I still wore winter coat earlier I didn't wear a knit or layers for the first time in 5 months!) so in between entertaining the dcs, I have done a conditioning mask in hair, painted nails, and started my Spring/Summer foot regime, (basically daily slathering in loccitaine Shea butter foot cream). Feels great!

I have had a mini look around the John Lewis and M&S websites for holiday wear while I was holiday shopping for the dcs. I am hopeful about these dune sandals. Hope you're all having lovely Sundays!

libertychick · 07/04/2013 16:20

Grumpy ? Paris vogue in Ireland Smile ? how did it go?

Mrs R ? the sugar ban was quite hard core! No foods with added sugar and no booze ? I did it as I was at the end of my tether with recurrent thrush - it worked and half stone weight loss was an added bonus. After a week I was used to it. The sugar has crept back into my diet so have cut back again recently. It was easy weight loss though as I ate whatever else I wanted. I did keep eating fruit although I lost the taste for very sweet fruit like pineapple. I like your purchases ? am considering the Whistles stripe dress and I like the white version of that jumper on the frugality blog. I was in the Boden shop the other day and tried it on ? it?s large fitting so probably worth sizing down if you do order.

Ohhh Shop the fall sounds painful ? are you ok now?

Sleep - I love superga, living in my suede pink version ATM. There doesn?t seem to be a lot of NB trainers available on-line. Are they selling out everywhere or am I missing something?

Novice grim start to a Sunday! Have you upped the household insurance yet to cover all the gorgeous new jewels? Smile

M&S shoes update ? the 6 was too big and they didn?t have them in my local branch so have reordered in 5.5.

shopafrolic · 07/04/2013 16:35

Novice don't think I can claim the glory on the Warehouse top....hope the vomiting episode is a one off!
Liberty knee has gone a nice shade of blue now!
The christening was lovely, great day for it. Lovely people (we only knew the parents!). I wore some navy slim leg Jigsaw trousers with the A&W brown patterned silk blouse, and my camel coat. I did try the black and cream combo but it felt a bit too plain.
Foxy sorry the cookies thing didn't work - sometimes does, sometimes doesn't - always worth a try :)

Oh Liberty! You're so sensibleSmile. Insurance is one of my nightmares. We used to be insured by HSBC. There was a news report about 2 years ago to say that most people are completely under insured. Soon after ours was due for renewal so I totted up the price of everything told them and they promptly said we're over their limit so they wouldn't insure us. So stressful. We eventually found someone who would insure us without wanting to charge us £3kShock but it means we are under insured and its worse now as between dh, mil and I, I have been gifted/bought about £25k of new jewellery in the last 4 months.

However a friend of mine made exactly the same point as you last week when I was telling her about my buys and she had had the same problem with HSBC. She's actually given me a solution which means we will be properly insured again. Also she was telling me off for not having a safe so we need to do that at the same time.Blush thanks for the reminder!

BrandyAlexander · 07/04/2013 16:43

Oh Shop...navy, camel and that blouse. Sounds perfect! Did you wear 'my' scarf? It's a bit warmer today so you prob didn't need it.

I can't go back in the thread (so many posts!) so whoever linked the warehouse top...ThanksThanksThanks!
