Time for a new bra thread

I am officially a mad bra lady. I staged an intervention today in M&S in an attempt to stop a young lady buying a 36B. She was with her mum who told me her daughter was a size 12 and that's why they'd picked up a 36. I advised her to try a 30! I am now feeling a mixture of shame and pride.

They were like this Shock Confused

Great link cereal proof if ever it was needed that if you are a size 14 you can be a 30 back given they only cater for size 14 and up.
Good prices too.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 14:31

Simply be do have a good range actually! Although they may need to go on the wall of shame for this

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 06/03/2013 14:35

However slightly disheartening to be looking at a page entitled 'plus size/big women's' bras

Miggsie · 06/03/2013 14:35

Well, I am indeed a 32FF - DH said no way could I be that size - I am.

Found lovely bras at Bravissimo website and ordered 12 and kept 3.
Now I know what my measurements are and what shape suits me I can actually have some decent bras. DH has picked a few out for me - I think he quite enjoyed it!

My osteopath congratulated me on the fit as well!

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 06/03/2013 14:36

SC love the idea of 'traning' your back fat!

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 14:39

Maybe the osteos need to start doing bra fitting - they seem to be a lot wiser than the fitters!

Thank you for sharing that, it's really appreciated. I really hope it keeps getting better - I know the cup is a little small but I suspect what is probably a fairly small quadboob is a lot better than that!

The 32FF is killing me! It's a soft 'comfy' t-shirt bra, why are my sides red raw??

I measure 31 max under and 40 max over. Have now tried 30G 32G and 32FF. Have a 30GG coming tomorrow. This is an expensive experiment. The thing is the 34E I found in my draw is clearly too big in the back and small in the cup.

Or do I just need to toughen up?!

TheOldestCat · 06/03/2013 20:11

Sorry not to answer your questions earlier up the thread. I didn't get fitted at M&S as last time they said I was a 36B.

I am 34 round the back and 39 with everything, ahem, hanging down. I just followed your advice to someone with the same measurements on a previous thread and tried a few different sizes. The 34DD is perfect according to the instructions you gave.

So thank you!

Songbird · 06/03/2013 20:22

Ahoy hoy! Can i join you good women please? I've just measured, and i'm a 37/46. Have been wearing a 40C and it's digging into my side boobs.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 20:24

Ah that makes much more sense TheOldestCat...we are wary of M&S fitters for obvious reasons (see here.

I am concerned about red raw HangingGarden. Can I suggest giving the GG a slightly longer than usual fitting test around the house before you detag (yes shoot me I do this after too many bra fails!)

sparkle12mar08 · 06/03/2013 20:26

Songbird, start with a 36GG, 36G, and possibly 38FF's as well.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 20:37

Ouch Songbird, I suspect that bra hurts!

Songbird · 06/03/2013 20:38

Lummy! ThanksGrin

Songbird · 06/03/2013 20:40

Indeed it does. Poor songbird, no-one knows her pain Sad . Except you lot Grin

AmazingDisgrace · 06/03/2013 20:50

OK, I wore the Delphi all day just to see what it was like after a few hours. The back didn't budge, I have red lines but not too grim. The gapping at the top stayed and was worse when I sat down. My bloody boobs tried to escape at the armpit a bit and down by that narrow high central gore my poor old boob on the left had wrinkled in half right at the top of the gore.

I am suffering from a lack of volume in the top half when braless and am quite wide set.

I'm gutted as I truly loved this bra on sight

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 20:55

amazing I was being dippy. I actually bought the Delphi and sent it back - the shape did absolutely nothing for me. It is quite low round the sides and even made my close set boobs want to make a break for my armpits. I think you would be better with something a bit more solid at the sides to keep your breasts in place. I wonder if an Alana might work (Bravissimo?) or that sort of shape. You might like the Boudoir Beau or Aleya too. Boudoir didn't suit me because it was a little too wide in the middle but nice otherwise.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 20:58

Statistically I spoke to you a while on here about a bra I got from Bravissimo and it not seeming right (the pretty green and black lacey one), you explained to me about the back size seeming to big and other things wrong with it, they fitted me at a 32G.

Well... Today I went into Debenhams looking for a strapless bra, I was going to buy that wonderbra hands style one as they do it in a 32G.

Turns out I am a 30HH so no strapless for me!!

You were so right.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 21:05

Hopefully your new bras will be better!

Did you try the ultimate out of interest? I find the sizing seriously wonky on it. I'm a 30HH myself but get away with the 32g! Go figure....

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 21:08

I don't have any new bras now as I couldn't get any in my size! :(

What one is the Ultimate? I will have to have a look at that!

30HH is a seriously strange ratio! At 5 months pregnant you would think my back size would have went up. Hmm I tried the 30H in one of their bras and the sizing was wonky on that as on the tightest it was still too big, I am overweight!

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 21:12

Sorry, the wonderbra ultimate strapless. I find the sizing odd on it. Very odd!

I'm not slim either, believe me! Most people would never believe I need a 30.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/03/2013 21:13

Me neither. I can't even imagine what M&S would size me at!
