Time for a new bra thread

I am officially a mad bra lady. I staged an intervention today in M&S in an attempt to stop a young lady buying a 36B. She was with her mum who told me her daughter was a size 12 and that's why they'd picked up a 36. I advised her to try a 30! I am now feeling a mixture of shame and pride.

They were like this Shock Confused

Bravissimo are not going to bring in a range of sizes that are so readily available on the high street. They already stock nearly 100 as it is!
The whole point was to provide options to those who had none.

However, even if you think you are less than a D cup they will still give you a fitting and give you an idea of your size and help you to understand how your bra should fit.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/03/2013 21:00

Married I'm quite happy with it as it is :)

SorrelForbes · 07/03/2013 21:07

Me too. We just need to let everyone know that they could be a D+ Grin

Maybe they need a new advert = "4 inch difference between your under and overbust...then you are probably a bravissimo girl"

SarkyPants · 07/03/2013 21:16

Good idea SC.

marriednotdead · 07/03/2013 21:27

I've always said that if you can't cover your breast completely with your hand, you're probably bigger than a D cup.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/03/2013 21:33

BTW Married, you were right about my Alana (you wondered why it wasn't a J). I was dithering in the shop about whether the HH was a bit too wee but you sometimes get bra blindness when you've tried on 15 of the things. I asked the fitter to check "yes, that;s a lovely fit" but it's been kind of niggly. Discovered a 30J (barely worn, it someone went in to my "wrong size" pile) today and it fits so much better. GRRR

Imlostwithoutahope · 07/03/2013 22:23

Which bra style should I go for if the top of my boobs lack any fullness. I want something that makes me look as if I have bigger boobs but fits well. As mentioned before the gel filled moulded cups I normally wear are gaping along the top of the cup so if I wear a v neck top you can almost see my breast inside my bra from the side.

Thanks

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 07/03/2013 22:26

Hey there again SC, can I please ask your help again?

I'm looking for a maternity sleep bra and struggling to find one that will fit.

30HH

SorrelForbes · 07/03/2013 22:28

Imlostwithoutahope I'm a big fan of balconette styles, the EWA Michalak CH styles and the Cleo Juna work well for me.

Some parts of pregnancy were the only time I wore a bra at night, and I am pretty sure I just wore a maternity bra but I think I wore one a band size bigger for sleeping. There wasn't the same gravity issues, it was more for a bit of support and to stop them hurting!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 07/03/2013 22:38

I know but normal bras are hurting me but that might just be because I have been wearing the wrong size. They are sooo sore, I produce milk from 18 weeks and it's horrible. :(

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/03/2013 22:45

I think for sleeping I would go soft cup. I hate when I fall asleep wearing underwires, but that may just be me. Actually, something else I wore was the Bravissimo PJ tops like this

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 07/03/2013 22:51

Oh the pyjama top is a brilliant idea. Thank you!

You and Sorrel should charge for advice on here, it must be like a full time job!

SorrelForbes · 07/03/2013 22:52

If only...

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 07/03/2013 22:52

Job that is (not charging other MNs for amateur snippets of advice!)

OP posts:
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 07/03/2013 22:55

Lol.

Might be amateur but a lot more helpful than the 'professional' bra fitters. Hmm

SorrelForbes · 07/03/2013 23:01

Well, the M&S ones anyway (sweeping statement, I'm sure there must be a goodun out there!). I'm a big fan of the ladies in Bravissimo, they're fab!

OP posts:
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 07/03/2013 23:02

Oh no, Bravissimo are lovely. :) So was the woman in Debenhams! :o

FierceBadIggi · 07/03/2013 23:20

Am new to the whole enormous cup size thing, but must say I haven't found the range available to be remotely beige or unattractive - that's just from looking in Debenhams mind. Lots of colour, lace, shiny bits.

SorrelForbes · 07/03/2013 23:27

Debenhams do some very pretty bras in their Gorgeous range. Unfortunately, the last couple of times I've been in there, they haven't had very many small back/large cup choices.

SchroSawMargeryDaw
The Bravissimo PJ tops only go up to a H but might be worth a try in a 32 given your current curvaceousness Smile
There was a woman in OBEM labouring in this one this week and I reckon you could probably BF out of it if you loosened the shoulder strap.

Another one worth a go is this Bravado top - sizing is weird but I'd suggest starting with an XS XL++.

SorrelForbes · 08/03/2013 08:10

Still lusting after this. They go up to a 30GG too. I'm too scared (and skint) to order in case it doesn't fit!

OP posts:
CelticPromise · 08/03/2013 08:52

Oooh Sorrel that's gorgeous, but ouch! ££!

I'm off to Mothercare. Wish me luck!

Songbird · 08/03/2013 09:28

I've just rescued a friend! She's been wearing 34/36Bs and is a 28/30F!! She can't understand it because 'this bra's a 36 and it's not loose'. The front middle bit (can't remember name) is not next to her skin, the back isn't horizontal and the straps keep falling down apparently. Ha! Typical! said I, with all the usual zeal of someone who's been an expert on this for, ooh, 2 days Grin
