New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Lol at less toast, I need to include crumpets!

I'm not going to gym. I have period pains, feel like I have a cannon ball down there (sorry if tmi) I shall re group myself in the morning, as it's weigh day and I havnt eaten to good today.

Feelingood · 05/02/2013 18:25

Yes turnip re blow drying. I thought about this yesterday why is it only now I've learnt how to do it, and like you say it lasts into the next day?

Well my answer is as a child of 80/90's growing up I scrunch dried, dried head up side down, fingered dried and back combed so I never actually ever needed to dry it straight flat and smooth as it were.

I once a couple of years back took very careful note of how hairdresser did it sections, and holding dryer pointing down, not waggling it and using a nozzle, moving large flat paddle brush thigh over and over - this does trick for me!

Nails - nah? Lol Grin

twinklestar2 · 05/02/2013 18:29

Did the shred DVD last night and will do it again tonight!

Today's outfit

Grey shift dress
Black opaques
Black boots

I actually think the shift dress is too big but it's an old faithful - can wear it without ironing, etc - but in the spirit of this thread I should stop wearing it hey?!

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 05/02/2013 19:08

Trampy the boots I ordered from eBay came today - the ones you had. They're fab and I can't believe the price! Although I did find them a bit difficult to put on - hoping they'll ease off as I wear them.

Karbea · 05/02/2013 19:30

Umm today I wore a tracksuit and didn't do much :S
But have eaten quite healthily today.

Ambassadoryouarespoilingme · 05/02/2013 20:32

Evening Fabulizers
I've had a weird few days. A cold virus thing meant a couple of days swathed in floppy layers. On SUnday I managed to complete a 10k road race in my best ever time, so I"m very chuffed about that. Sartorially, it was more lycra layers than glamour. Yesterday I went into the office wearing a black and white French Connection dress, fab M&S control tights and high heeled boots. Felt quite good, although I was walking like John Wayne after the runWink.

Today I wore my new Monsoon skinny trousers, which are GREAT. For anyone looking for some plain, dark, highly stretchy trousers, this Monsoon pair totally hit the spot. (Sorry I can't find them online to link to but they were £39 and in navy or black). Teamed with a long sleeved white tshirt, under a red H&M t shirt dress with gathered sleeves, and my trusty Timberland snow boots. Ruby earrings and ring and clear nail varnish (avoiding the super sparkly bits my daughter chose for me, Pat Butcher style).

Things which are going well: nail care, vitamin-taking, eyebrow-tending, moisturising, actually thinking about what I am going to wear.
Things which aren't going so well: hair still a crazy frizzy mess, still got a long way to go on the weight loss journey (at least 1.5 stone)
But: you are all inspiring me to keep at it, and I hope you are all feeling positive.

twinklestar2 · 05/02/2013 20:42

Well done Ambassador!

JemimaMuddledUp · 05/02/2013 20:47

Well done on the 10k PB Ambassador

I find that my hot air styler works fantastically for giving me a blow dried look. I have a Vidal Sassoon one which has a smaller brush barrel than the Babyliss one, which suits my bob better. I leave it to dry naturally until it is about 90% dry, then give it a spritz of Tresemme Heat Protector Spray and run the hot air styler though sections of it. It stays smooth and shiny all day.

I wore my pedometer today, and was very pleased to find that I clocked up 22,844 steps! This is on top of the 10k that I cycled on the stationary bike first thing. Mind you it is DD's birthday tomorrow so I will probably eat back all the calories I worked off in cake Grin

Whoknowswhocares · 05/02/2013 21:07

Yay.......got my first compliment!!!!haha Grin
Someone who would never, ever usually comment told me I looked gorgeous at the weekend. (Swanky dinner dance) He wasn't even drunk.......cos it was 3 days later he told me. No hidden agenda, just a friend who knows OH too. I'm a bit embarrassed tbh but I accepted it gracefully, as per thread!

LetMeAtTheWine · 05/02/2013 21:19

Wow, everyone is doing so well! Hope you are feeling better Trampy, and excellent news on the work you have secured with he vintage shop!

I am back to being mega lazy Blushfor example, after shower tonight I put on face cream and bump cream (although think if you are going to get stretch marks there is nothing that will stop them, I have to at least try). That's it - no eye cream, no body moisturiser, keep telling myself I should but now tucked up in bed and going nowhere.

I should also be revising for an exam I haven't got a cat in hells chance of passing but can't be bothered to do that either.

How do people keep motivated? Seriously, I need to know!

TrampyPants · 05/02/2013 22:01

Karbea, well done on the healthy eating!

Remus, wow, that sounds utterly fabulous!

Issi, well done! We all have to start somewhere. I'm glad you feel better.

Turnip, I keep trying to blowdry my hair, but I haven't the patience. Enjoy your manicure, etc, doesn't a clothing purge feel good?

Feelingood, I'm a child of the 90s too. My hair looked like a bloody triangle.

Twinkle, can you put a spin on it or alter it? Maybe a bright waist belt or change buttons? Well done on the shred.

Always, I'm so glad you like them. They are a bargain and go with so much stuff. And comfy.

Ambassador, wow, well done! I'm so impressed. Outfits sound brilliant, chic but comfy. And well done on the fabulizing. This thread has helped keep me motivated when I wanted to give up.

Jemima, that styler sounds ace. I keep thinking I should get one but I've only just got to grips with my straightener/curler. And well done on the walking and cycling.

Whoknows, woo, doesn't it feel good? That's so ace Grin

Joints are sore again, so having a quiet night. Wore skinny jeans with brown biker boots, red wool socks peeping over the top, a stripey longsleeve tee under a cream swing 3/4 sleeve jumper. I styled my hair properly curled under and everything. Nails are still orange and my new Sen stuff has arrived. A moisturizing gel and eye make up remover. Its so cold here though, not much snow but it's so icy.

TrampyPants · 05/02/2013 22:05

Letme, you must be shattered, have a night off. Thank you, when is your exam?

I'm staying motivated by thinking of dhs face when I come downstairs with make up on and nice clothes. I also want ds to take pride in his appearance, to shower properly, brush his hair, care about what he wears. My mum never did, I think that's why I'm so sloppy.

Morning all - just read your blog about hats Trampy! So true - I love a hat, but tend not to wear them, and I don't kow why! Probably because so few people do wear them it makes me stand out (except in the winter of course when it's considered more 'normal' I guess.)
Thanks to everyone for your boots ideas - will be popping into our small town tomorrow to see if I can find anything too.
Keep up the fabulizing, it's great to read what you're all doing and wearing.

It's cold today and I'm working from home so it's jeggings, striped purple l/s top, and wrap cardi for me today, and of course a scarf (I love my scarves)
Tied my scarf like this yesterday Woven scarf knot

TrampyPants · 06/02/2013 11:20

Thank you Gibbs, I bought a new hat on saturday, a 60's style pale grey felt hat. I removed the bow and attached a large gold button instead and itr looks totally different. I love hats. They're ace. Thank you for that scarf tutorial, I'm going to try it later. Good luck with the boot hunt.

Legs are swollen today so burgundy cords and cream jumper here, not great, but I am wearing make up and a scarf too. Nails are still orange as well. Lush!
I'm writing a piece about leopard print now and have found loads of scarves that I love, inc an alexander macqueen for £20!

OP posts:
TrampyPants · 06/02/2013 11:49

this is the scarf I love it.

TrampyPants · 06/02/2013 12:55

I have just got changed in the spirit of this thread. now in my baxters, a stripey loose fit cream and black top from h&m and a grey leopard print blazer from Adsa with a black, white and teal spotted scarf and grey mid heel ankle boots

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/02/2013 17:05

Liking the sound of grey ankle boots.

I'm back to the leopard print pencil skirt today - had lots of nice comments on it at work.

It's my birthday (43!) and am off out later. Will probably wear:
black skinnies
black silk top with orange/blue/white parrot print (Warehouse)
biker jacket or blazer
heeled ankle boots

TrampyPants · 06/02/2013 18:10

Oooh, happy birthday remus, that outfit sounds swoony. Have a great night!

JemimaMuddledUp · 06/02/2013 19:17

Happy birthday Remus! It is my DD's birthday today too, she is 7 Grin

Today I am wearing: straight leg jeans, black long cardigan, black scoop neck top, black pumps, a long chunky black and silver bead necklace and small silver round stud earrings.

It has been a very hectic day with DD's birthday, so I think I am going to treat myself to a long soak in the bath when the DC have gone to bed.

JemimaMuddledUp · 06/02/2013 19:53

Yes, have just been rooting through the bathroom for goodies, I am definitely going for a long, pampering soak.

I got a Radox Spa gift set for Christmas, with Soothing Bath Soak and Radiant Shower Scrub and some matching candles, so I will use those. Am going to use an Avon Solutions Total Radiance Scrub and Mask on my face, and some John Frieda Deep Conditioning Treatment on my hair. Then moisturise all over with Nivea Happy Time moisturiser that I also got for Christmas.

The great thing about being a teacher is I get lots of smellies for Christmas Grin

TrampyPants · 06/02/2013 20:21

Oooh, that sounds like bliss! I love smellies. They are ace!

Your outfit sounds really lovely too.

Happy birthday to Jemima's dd. :)

Just been for a lovely meal and am now very full! I went for khaki jeans in the end, instead of black but otherwise as I described.

Liking the sound of all the black, Jemima.

twinklestar2 · 06/02/2013 22:43

Happy bday Remus!

Today's outfit:

Black printed dress
Black cardie
Black tights
My black kurt geigers

LetMeAtTheWine · 07/02/2013 07:30

Well, first things first, happy belated birthday to both Remus and Jemima's daughter - hope both had a lovely day!

Trampy, my exam is on the 19th or 20th feb - am so far behind for various reasons not sure I will ever catch up. Really demotivated at the minute as well so not doing the much needed revision Blush it should be quiet in the office today so taking it in with me and hoping to get it cracked!

Love the scarf Trampy - am quickly becoming a leopard print fan. Have always had odd tops and shoes in the past but starting to like it more and more.

Made a bit of effort last night and moisturised top to toe. About time mind you, have been very lax lately.

Right, going to drag myself to work - hope everyone has a lovely Thursday! Smile

JemimaMuddledUp · 07/02/2013 07:53

Glad to hear you had a lovely evening Remus

I've always been a little bit scared of leopard print - I think it might be Bet Lynch's fault - but I am starting to come round to the idea and am thinking of buying a scarf to get me started. I also saw a leopard print cardi that I liked but I'm not sure if that is a step too far!

Today's outfit - straight leg jeans, navy and white breton stripe long sleeved top, long black cardi, black flat knee high boots, small silver round stud earrings.

Have done half an hour on the stationary bike and a few sets with dumbells before breakfast.

Hope you all have a great day!
