The February Fabulizers - Where we turn chores into habits and accept compliments gracefully

New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

I think nude heels are a bit more versatile, black can be a tad harsh

Feel like I get closer to both my Dsis's the older we get (we all shared a bedroom till I was 15 and drove each other crazy when we were kids! Have 2 younger Dsis's and an older DBro). She's only just come back from 2 years abroad so have only seen her a few times the last few months. We might be going to NZ on holiday this year (fx) when we sort ourselves out and book it, so may see her again sooner than we'd planned Smile

Have wasted most of today on pinterest Blush

I love black heels, but since I wear black or grey almost exclusively, they work for me.

Today's outfit was -
black cigarette trousers
platform heels
black and white striped drapey t-shirt
cropped military blazer
black and white spotted scarf (love spots and stripes together!)

Have a little challange for you style gurus - I'd like some ankle boots a bit like these but not so expensive, has anyone seen any? Also could I wear those with casual dresses?

GibbsGirl · 04/02/2013 20:52

Engel - have also started a pinterest account! Lots of hours could disappear using that!

Gibbs - have you tried Dorothy Perkins for boots?

TrampyPants · 04/02/2013 21:18

Engels, aw, hopefully you'll get to see her soon.

Remus, that outfit sounds sounds fab. I love mixing spots and stripes too. And florals with stripes. In fact clashing full stop.

Twinkle, good luck! Grin

My joints are still really bad, so I'm struggling. Dh had to carry me out of the shower. But now I am painting my nails in a brilliant mandarin colour.

Got up at 6am this morning to do 10km on my stationary bike and a few sets with my dumbells to firm up my wobbly arms. Followed by shower and moisturise, then hair done with hot air styler. Sometimes I think it takes longer to make myself look tidy again after exercise than it does to do the exercise!

Healthy breakfast of porridge topped with blueberries. I am desperate to shift the last 8lbs and I'm sure I've actually put some on this week with the steroids for my chest.

Today I am wearing dark blue straight leg jeans, black vest top, black cropped cardigan, green chunky wooden necklace and black knee high boots. Shellac is still holding out without chips, but I am amazed at how quickly my nails grow, leaving a gap at the bottom of the colour on my nails.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all, Im currently not bothering until I warm up. Its freezing outside, cold in my house and I AM COLD! Brrr! So whilst my hair and makeup are done, and Im painting my nails, making sure to moisturise and all that jazz, Im living in jeggings or skinnies with cardys. Presentable enough but nowt special. It'll do Smile

Hi karbea, welcome!!

gibbs, thank you. I shall do some hardcore searching later. what size shoe?

jemima, I am crikily impressed!! and outfit sounds lovely. I considered shellac, but I get bored easily and like bright statement nails so itd look a bit iffy.

guy, I dont blame you. what a shock! I was writing a blog post about transition clothes, winter to spring. scrapped it for a week or so.

I'm a size 5/5.5 (feet seem to have shrunk recently, am sure I was always a 6 before!) Looked at some in Dune but they aren't in my size. I really want to be able to wear them with skinnies and dresses (something I haven't done before) and for them to be comfortable (so not too high) Oh and brown/pale as I don't tend to wear much black. Am I asking for too much?!

Morning all.

Sorry havnt posted for a few days, I have been mindful of this thread and our shared aspirations.

trampy aw bless you still doing nails when you feel so rotten. Hope you feeling better this am.

gibbs I love mint velvet full stop! But re tan boots, I got some same shape and heal but tight buckles last week in M and S, reached from £65 to £39. I loves them and have worn them with skinnies. It maybe worth a look in a few branches if you are out and about.

remus that sounds so chic, cigarette trousers! I saw your other thread where did you go in the end, I'm north Birmingham btw!

guy I'm having a bit of a day like that except I've done skincare properly but havnt done make up. In house keeping warm with jeans and hoody on.

Overall im doing well with diet, have met trainer at gym and had a new program set on Sunday, doing it on my own tonight. I did body scrub and full moisturise yesterday, wore dark blue skinnies with new tan boots and African style print top as I was out and about at several places.

I still can't seem to make time to paint my nails so after I've got my training session out of the way tonight (I will be on my own no kids!) I will shower, steam and sauna shower with full scrub and moisturise, followed by blow dry (the hair dryers there are v big and powerful) and full skin care and yes my nails!

I have weight watchers tomorrow so looking forward to a good loss I will be gutted actually if I havnt lost 2lb. I also have the beauty therapist booked for a head and shoulder massage as a me treat, she will come to house so convenient as have 1 yr old.

I started this post an hour and a half ago as LO flipped her lid and got really upset as her nose was blocked and teeth etc took ages to settle her! No wonder I can't get nails done.

Starting slowly!

I body scrubbed in the shower, and took my nail varnish off (want to have one nail varnish free day a week) and just had a spinach and potato soup for lunch and vitamins.

Had a very lazy morning need to clean the house this afternoon!

Oh I love this thread! I neglected myself for years, I've recently found my sense of style fashion-wise (and said goodbye to items of old clothing, some 14 years old!)

I'm having a manicure tomorrow (I work in a hospital and can't wear nail polish unless I'm on annual leave). Tonight I'm washing my hair and scrubbing in the shower, followed by a face-mask. I recently learned to blow dry my hair properly as opposed to playing havoc with my straighteners, and I'm amazed at how long it lasts and how much better the condition it's in.
