New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Oh jemina, I'm waiting for DH to bring my wine! Enjoy yours, and well done with weight loss, half term a cold soon knocked me off track. I must lose weight I want to be a 'good' 16 for summer.

Your outfit sounds so well 'on it'!

I have worn my dress been shopping and visited a friend. I hunted out my heels and wore them all day, I was so pleased with myself! It felt good knowing I had my make up, I looked so much better. I think I've just reached an age where I can't skimp on things anymore and look okish!

I bought this and three pairs of lace trim ed knicker from m n s and some v lovely perfume, I was quite impressed with their perfume range actually.

I felt great today so so much better. Thanks to this thread, I might not have been around but I've thought about it often.

When I hunted for my black heels I found so many pairs of shoes that I havnt worn and two pairs of boots. So I aim to wear a pair every day next week.

Any thoughts what you would wear with (if you like a little challenge) and I'll see if I can match it up from what I have! .....and what do you think should not be worn (last season, too dated etc)

Shoes list:

Black suede pumps twist knot detail
Mustard yellow pumps
Red pumps suede/leather/ribbon threaded through
Tan leather moccasins style boat shoes
Grey brogues
Coral/orangey t bar round toed cone heals
Raspberry courts round tied cone heals bow detail
Chocolate brown riding style boots
Black over the knee boots
Black suede wedge boots
Sludge distressed block heel knee hi boots
Tan buckle detail block heel ankle boots

Pic n mix! Look forward to any thoughts x

Feelingood · 01/03/2013 21:56

jemins I love the first colour, it's just right not too bright, the second ones well they look great but v scary!

I had the shellac done once and I didn't like it, maybe I should try another nail place as mine started to come away after a week and then you have bother getting it off I have beauty person booked for next week, she comes to house. I don't know what to have done, I think my feet and facial?

Feelingood · 01/03/2013 21:57

I'm mean scary is how the heck do you do them!

JemimaMuddledUp · 01/03/2013 22:25

I wouldn't have a clue where to start painting that pattern on my nails, but luckily the lovely girl who does mine for me probably does! I had Shellac for the first time in January and it lasted for almost 3 weeks, which I was really pleased with. It has left my nails a bit flaky, but not too bad. I have quite a few things coming up in the next couple of weeks, including my birthday, so I thought I'd have them done again.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I'm probably not the best person to advise you on which shoes are OK for this season, but I'm sure someone with more idea (Trampy maybe?) will be along soon.

TrampyPants · 01/03/2013 23:08

Jemima, I'm sure you will rock it and your outfit sounds ace. Not MILy at all. I am seriously considering shellac, but I like changing my nails to suit my outfit. Tonight I have painted them neon orange to go with my outfit that I've planned for tomorrow. Indigo skinnies short sleeve grey sweatshirt, black jersey and satin jacket and biker boots. I've over conditioned my hair, so tonight used washing up liquid and argan oil to lighten it up. Feeling, I'm glad you are feeling better and that you feel perked up. I know exactly what you mean, I feel so different. I will have a think about your shoes, the cone heels, I'd wear with 50s style dresses and wide belts, ankle boots with skinny jeans and rider boots with a-line skirts. Just off the top of my head, that is Grin jemima is right, when they are babies it feels neverending. Then, like a flash, they are 7 years old and high-fiving their dads about something being epic or sick, and having crushes on quinn from glee.

Feelingood · 02/03/2013 00:55

Ty, both my DH was visibly pleased when I said I'd had a great day too.

trampy you are a legend for going with neon orange I know it's v now, I'm just not sure I can pull it off!

jem my shellac women doesnt do that! Enjoy.

Oh my shoes! It's a bit like buy now plan later isn't it, thank you for input so far. 50's dresses , hmmm don't think I'm that confident to ever pull one of them off, but I love the look. It's the flare at hips thing. I'll think and shop about this more.

TrampyPants · 02/03/2013 10:12

I can't do neon in clothes, thata why I use it in polish, etc its so cheery and shiney! If you aren't keen on the full skirt, try a pencil skirt, but you should def work your boobies to their potential. I am v jealous. Mine are like fried eggs.

Feeling good - all flats will go with skinny jeans if that helps!!

Off for lunch with friends and wearing:

New leapord print top from eBay
Khaki skinnies
Grey cardi
Beige flats

Look very springy!

cjbk1 · 02/03/2013 13:14

wow there's nothing quite like a surprise Brazilian wax is there? didn't set a reminder on phone completely forgot I'd booked so couldn't have an extra shower take paracetamol or psych myself up for it had a call ran to salon and had a double quick leg Brazilian wax eyebrows threaded and
a lovely back neck and shoulder massage so now iv just got to 'do' my arms hands and feet, am wearing a slouchy striped top over vest with long black cardi, black skinny jeans and converse type shoes well socks indoors lol

Feelingood · 02/03/2013 14:33

Hungover = comfy track suit tweed gillet.

JemimaMuddledUp · 02/03/2013 15:02

cjbk1 I am slightly scared at the idea of a surprise Brazilian! Shock

Am having a truly fabulous fabulizing day so far.

Had my facial (bliss!) and Shellac manicure. The girl who does nail art was off with flu so I couldn't have my leopard ring fingers, so I had Iced Cappuccino as it is nice and neutral so goes with anything. It reminds me of Rimmel Coffee Shimmer lipstick from my youth Grin

I did a little bit of shopping too while I was in town. Bought some indigo skinnies from M&Co as I liked the black ones so much. Also got a mustardy colour scoop neck fine cable jumper in the Dorothy Perkins sale reduced to £10. I saw a scarf in New Look reduced to £5 that would have gone really well with the jumper but didn't buy it, I think I'll go back and get it tomorrow.

Went to Boots to replace a No7 lipstick that has nearly finished, bought a blusher as well and got a free make up bag with a lipstick, eye shadow, mini mascara and mini Protect & Perfect moisturiser. I also got an extra 100 points for buying a lipstick.

Also bought a couple of magazines - Marie Claire with a free Neal's Yard Remedies hand cream and Glamour with a free Percy & Reed Shampoo.

Came home to lots of special offer vouchers in the post as it is my birthday next week, including £5 off a £30 shop in Matalan and 50% off my favourite item in La Redoute. Got to be worth at least a browse...

Feelingood · 02/03/2013 16:07

at Brazilian let alone a surprise one!

I'm too embarrassed to go. I have v bad shaving rash there at moment and it's stopping me from taking my 1 yr old swimming. Blush

jemima you are having a wonderfully fantabulous day! Yes I remember rimmel, I used to love a shimmery bright coral lipstick. Foundation from Avon! Your nails sound lovely. Think I might get mine done give a second try.

Bargainous shopping too. I think I need to cast my net wider and try and get some seasonal staples in.

twinkles right so I might do the week something like this

Wine slim chinos with black pumps
Dark blue denim skinnier with red pumps and matching red bag
Black skinnies with yellow pumps
The other two days still wear dresses

JemimaMuddledUp · 02/03/2013 18:05

I've never had a Brazilian. DH and I have been together for 15 years, and back then Brazilians weren't so common. So he has never known any different Grin

I popped back to New Look and got the scarf when DH went to fetch pizza for tea. It is lovely, you can't really see from the picture but it is devore. It goes really well with the DP jumper that I bought earlier. We're going to the outlaws for Sunday lunch tomorrow, I think I'm going to wear them. Am hoping that leopard scarf and leopard flats isn't too much, I think they are far enough apart and the jumper and jeans are quite simple.

cjbk1 · 02/03/2013 19:30

re; Marie Claire with the free hand cream;
I have registered online yesterday and for a free copy of Marie Claire via link from another thread but they haven't phoned me back yet so
(a) has anyone successfully received one?
(b) will have the free hand cream with it?
.....that reminds me iv got a free cowshed hand cream from another mag at large in my house...

JemimaMuddledUp · 03/03/2013 10:02

I don't know as I haven't seen the offer, but I know that once I had a cheap subscription to a magazine and I didn't get the free gifts with every issue.

The Neal's Yard Remedies Hand cream that came with Marie Claire is very nice.

Ambassadoryouarespoilingme · 03/03/2013 20:01

Hello Ladies
I"m back from a wonderful five days in Bath. (Guy your home town is so beautiful.) I wore my favourite clothes, as they were in no danger of getting smothered in someone else's food and drinks (although after a few drinks they were in danger of getting covered with my own spillagesSmile.
It was totally relaxing and lovely, although I've got to put in double efforts on the slimming front this week to undo some of the damage wrought by red wine and chocolate fondant....

Re the Brazilian thing, I thought I'd share that I had one done by accident the night before our wedding. I booked in for a normal bikini wax and pedicure. The very 'efficient' and 'persuasive' waxing woman made me feel that anything less than a Brazilian was tantamount to revolting, and that I should be calling in the Forestry Commission instead of The Waxing Gestapo. So I stupidly went along with her persuasions, and ended up almost Kojak, with my jeans stuck to my thighs.

This was made worse by the fact that for which I forgot to take flip flops, and had to walk to the hotel along Brighton seafront on my own, wearing those paper flip flops which you can't keep on. Walking like a consipated penguin, carrying my shoes, only served to stick the jeans more thoroughly to my reddened thighs.

I was walking like John Wayne through most of my wedding. Pure class.

On the other hand, today I've been in my new favourite Monsoon skinny jeans, a red chiffon polka dot smock thing, over long sleeved cream top, and hair up. I think all the sleep I had in the last week has paid off and I don't look quite as shattered as usual. Normal service resumes next week. Happy fabulizing.

Feelingood · 03/03/2013 20:04

Jemima DH never seems to notice tbh when i tidy up!

Well I wore my new top today

Skyblue silk front t with dropped waste
Dark blue skinnies
Pale grey pumps with buttons on
Navy Longline cardigan
Flowery pale pink and blue scarf, it matched perfectly

I think the while thing was too busy and I felt it was pretty outfit that matched but it was well a bit mumsy.

When i took the cardigan and scarf off I like how the top looked and think a nice long piece of silver jewellery would look better, simpler, and after heels on Friday I think it would look better with them too - though what type i don't know.

Sorry can't see who mention No7 offer, got this today as I replenished my liners lips and eyes and got the free gift. I have a voucher now to go back and get some BB cream - do people where this on top of moisturiser or is this your quick fix slap on in a hurry? I was too embarrassed to ask the girl.

Twinkle I have a couple of stone to lose I really need to be a size lower for summer as all holiday clothes for a big holiday booked are a 16! I also between DS and DD thought whats the point Ill get fat anyway if I'm honest so understand. After trying for over a year after a miscarriage we eventually conceived (was anxious as age against us since DS according to stats). A GP said all research said of you even lose half a stone (no matter how heavy you are) this is enough to kick start it all. The month I did W/W and gym training I lost just under half a stone, and I was revising like made for an exam (no charts etc) and this is when it happened for us. So keep going!

JemimaMuddledUp · 03/03/2013 20:07

I am definitely becoming more fabulized Grin

I have just spent half an hour working out my outfits for the week ahead, and hanging them up together. This is far more planning than usual!

Tomorrow's outfit will be slim fit jeans, black scoop neck l/s top, black cable knit roll neck poncho and brown suede chelsea boots.

Having spent a productive afternoon browsing polyvore and pinterest, I have decided that I need a denim shirt. Has anyone seen a nice one anywhere for under £20ish?

Feelingood · 03/03/2013 20:25

Respect jemima that is organised Grin

Think tesco or asda get them in.....

JemimaMuddledUp · 03/03/2013 21:00

Had a look at Tesco and Asda online and can't see anything I like (well there was one, but they only had a size 24 left in stock!).

Any other ideas?

twinklestar2 · 03/03/2013 22:02

Thx feelinggood for sharing your tips. Def incentive to stick to it.

Engelsemama · 04/03/2013 07:18

Morning fabulizers. Normal service has been resumed in the engels household apart from DH doing his dying swna on the sofa all weekend so am ready to fabulize again!

Am starting with clothes so today I am wearing:
navy skinnies
White 3/4 length sleeve scoop neck top
Navy chunky cardi
SCARF! (yellow and beige striped)

No make up at the mo and have just put some dry shampoo through my hair as friend is coming over in a few hours to do the shred so will wait until after to shower.

jemima that is super organised (and maybe I should do that tonight for my next 3 days at work Grin ). Denim shirt is making me think of the one I had when I was 13!

twinkle when we first started ttc I was putting off doing so many things 'just in case' I got pg. We didn't book a holiday abroad, I didn't sign up for any races...but it took us 18m, a visit to f.clinic, a mc. After 9-12 months I realised that I couldn't put my life on hold while we ttc (which is exactly what I was doing) so started exercising again and were in the middle of planning a long haul holiday (which we luckily hadn't got to the stage of booking) whihc is when I got pg. I think that being fit really helped me in having an easy labour - I was home 3 hours after DS was born! (but then that's also to do with the fact that Dutch midwives like to have a quick turnaround and only keep you in hospital if absolutely necessary).

ouch Ambassador (like the sound of the red chiffon polka dot btw!)

I must get back into my make-up/hair routines (there are so many ideas on pinterest for long hair - I must try them out) and start wearing contacts to work again.

Also waiting for slightly warmer weather to wear my nude heels. It's still cold here (though the sun is out today).

Am still not a nail person I'm afraid, though perhaps today I will give them a tidy up and put some clear polish on.

JemimaMuddledUp · 04/03/2013 07:55

Grin at the denim shirt reminding you of the one you had when you were 13 Engels - me too! I was a teen in the 90s so a lot of the "trends" at the moment look scarily familiar. I think I'll draw the line at digging my Nirvana t-shirt back out though...

Been out for a run before work, it is getting light much earlier now and is really starting to feel like spring. But very cold though!

Feelingood · 04/03/2013 10:10

Morning

Blue skinnies (not my best ones)
Longline cowl neck navy cream Breton striped jersey
Tan boots chunky heel with buckles

I wore my long back quilted coat to do school run. I'm back in the house on here while dd is asleep but have all the housework to do today ('twas trashed over the weekend Hmm ). Hair tied back, put brows on and lip gloss.

I'd set Monday as my night to do all my stuff in the bath, nails after. I really need to cook a lot of food (w/w soup, meal etc), start paper mâché model with ds and try and do some uni reading/notes (deadline 12th)

engels I've never done my nails but they've always grown nice so never looked scratty. Since joining this thread I've been more mindful to try and do them once a week aim for twice. A clear or nude shade is easy place to start.

I'm after a yellow scarf to team up with my yellow ochre pumps.

I can't help but thinking any effort made with outfits are lost under these big coast I have to wear for school run anyway. Some outfits don't look right with my coats.

I'm off to do my family calendar and I'm going to make the meal planning column share with outfit plans!

JemimaMuddledUp · 04/03/2013 20:13

Found my denim shirt Smile I tried a Falmer one on in Matalan but it was really short on me so no good to wear with skinnies with my bum. I went to Next and they had one which was perfect, and only £4 more than the Matalan one despite being far nicer material.

DH keeps singing Status Quo songs and taking the mickey Hmm
