New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Ive not been into Welshpool, we are inbetween the two and I always go to Shrewsbury instead. Has DS got to have much work done? I love my hot cloth cleanser, its ace.

Hello fabulizers!

It's so cold I'm struggling with making the effort!
Got some great boyfriend jeans from ASOS, dark indigo Brady jeans. Great fit for me. Fairly slim in the leg and not too low cut.

Today:
Straight leg Levi's
Navy long sleeved tee
Navy thick knit jumper Gap
Carvela biker boots
Black beanie hat
Mumsnet scarf (navy)

Mumof3men · 25/02/2013 19:44

woohoo, I wore eye makeup to work today-first time in years!

(baby steps, baby steps)

twinklestar2 · 25/02/2013 19:44

Hey all, I've been reading but not posting. I haven't been posting because I'm wearing the same clothes all the time as there'll all I can fit in to! But I am on a diet so my wardrobe selection should be a bit bigger soon!

I have been buying a few new items seeing as it was payday. I brought some khaki skinny jeans from Primark which I wore on Saturday. I also brought some new shoe boots and also some flat boots to run around in. There was a code flying around so I got them both for £32! Not bad hey?!

twinklestar2 · 25/02/2013 19:45

I also finally ordered my contact lenses so will be wearing my glasses less :)

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/02/2013 20:20

Welshpool is VERY quiet. I wouldn't choose to shop there instead of Shrewsbury!

DS1 will need a brace, but not for another 2 years as his adult teeth all need to come through first.

I have used the hot cloth cleanser and the moisturiser and my skin feels really nice. Hopefully it will still feel nice in the morning.

TrampyPants · 26/02/2013 14:52

Afternoon all! How is everyone?

Bleeding, I know. It seems so much easier to just slob doesn't it? I don't know why, some of my favourite outfits are cold weather ones. Am envious of nice boy jeans!

Twinkle, it must be frustrating. Are you at your target now? Skinnies sound great, I love skinnies.

Mumof3, well done! Its all about babysteps. For some people brushing their hair is a step forward, for others its getting a vajazzle. Grin

Jemima, shall stick with shrews then!

Ds is still off, back tomorrow though. I am in my baxters, grey stripey ls tee with a 3/4 sleeve swing jumper over. Wore wellies earlier, now in slippers. Bb cream, cheek tint and mascara. Practising hairstyles later on. Eek.

Afternoon!

Today has been filled with work related stress and a splitting headache. So style hasn't been at the top of my agenda.

Am wearing straight leg jeans, a blue long sleeved top with narrow white stripes and converse.

Skin definitely looks better after using Superdrug Vitamin E, far less dry and the spots on my chin seem to be less noticeable. Just wish I could do something about the dark circles under my eyes - I definitely need more sleep!

I have booked a facial and Shellac for Saturday, a bit of pampering as an early birthday treat.

TrampyPants · 26/02/2013 20:24

Oh no, jemima, huge sympathies. Do you feel any better? I think its a good idea to have a bit of pampering though.

Trampy I'm nowhere near my target! I'm a stone and a half heavier than when I got married 2 years ago :( I'm TTC so have fallen into that trap of thinking I'll get fat anyway so not bothering to diet. So now I'm fat and childless too! But no more! We have 3 months before we have to go back to the fertility clinic to see about the next stage so I thought I will spend that time trying to lose weight.

I brought a top off eBay today. It's lovely. It's a leapord print vest - will look nice with jeans or leggings. There's loads of bargains on there! I'm going to dig out all my old clothes that are too small for me and I'll never wear again and buy some 99p items! Hate paying for postage tho.

twinklestar2 · 27/02/2013 00:21

I also brought some flats as I was out and my feet were killing me. Will go lovely with my khaki skinnies I brought the other week!

www.barratts.co.uk/en/ruffle-trim-ballerinas-292703

Only £15 in the sale :)

I'm going to a black tie dinner tomorrow and none of my smart dresses fit me ARGH. Managed to buy a dress from Dorothy Perkins for a tenner, similar to this but gold underneath. Will wear with killer black peep toes and a fur jacket:

m.dorothyperkins.com/mt/www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=21&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=6438956&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=714506&parent_categoryId=226988&pageSize=20

No more buying until I've sold stuff or hubby will divorce me!

JemimaMuddledUp · 27/02/2013 07:44

Morning all!

Got up at 6am to go for a run. Hopefully it will help keep my head clear today at work. I did half an hour of yoga last night and then went to bed early. I hate being stressed.

Today I am wearing straight leg jeans, black scoop neck top, grey oversized cardi, converse.

Twinkle those shoes are lovely!

Have a great day everyone Smile

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 27/02/2013 22:23

I think I posted this before. I wasn't sure I could carry it off but my sister persuaded me to try it on and I really like it.
Unfortunately I tried it in a red colourway with black sleeves but I can't find that colour anywhere in my size.
I think I'll probably go with the cream if I can't get the red but I'm not sure how practical it will be.

Feelingood · 28/02/2013 12:44

Hello, I'm returning (if that's ok after a bit of err absence) I was genuinely busy and kept of MN keeping up with the grooming.

The last two weeks I have completely fallen off the wagon and been jean, trainers and longline sweater (alternating two) only I have had no sleep can teem to catch up and then been with a horrible hot noes/eyes type cold.

I currently look like a badger (white roots showing), grey and red blotchy face.

I had an awful moment of realisations how shit if felt about myself when a v well groomed mom at school gates came to speak to me I felt embarrassed and I knew she would be bitching about how rough I looked when she got back to her clique. I'm nearly ten years younger than her too.

Why does it matter what we look like it. I wish it didn't bother me but it does. Now I know I've been poorly this week with a teething won't sleep 1 year old but things are out of hand.

Feelingood · 28/02/2013 12:45

Emergency result plan needed!

TrampyPants · 28/02/2013 16:06

Always, my, how I love that jacket. Esp in cream. Please get it!!

Feelingood, aw, I totally understand. Look, you have been ill. If glamazoncow can't understand that, stuff her. Remember the twits, horrible people are ugly. I associate looking groomed with cleanliness. I was always scruffy and felt a bit grubby as a result. Even though I wasn't.

Quick fix, face mask, just a cheapy one, shave legs and pits and give your hair a good wash. I do a wash with washing up liquid once a month to get rid of buildup and add bounce. Then a deep condition to follow. Always works for me, and do eyebrows. Its so much easier to keep on top of it daily than do them once a month and pull out huge hairs that make you cry. Tomorrow just pop some concealer and bb cream on, and do you have any cheek tint or blusher? Just to make you feel a bit better.

OP posts:
AlwaysReadyForABlether · 28/02/2013 17:33

Thanks Trampy my sister has persuaded me so I'm going to get it. It's a bit of a departure for me so I will need to be brave and actually wear it.
Just for inspiration - what woukd you wwar it with?

TrampyPants · 28/02/2013 18:38

I would wear it with something plain. A neutral ls tee or of you were feeling brave a bright but plain quite loose top. I'm sure I saw something in h+m today, it was neon pink and just a basic tee, but would look great with that jacket.

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 28/02/2013 18:49

Feeling sorry to hear you're feeling bleugh. Can someone watch the teething baby while you have an hour to yourself? Long soak in a bubbly bath, shave legs, face mask, deep condition hair, pluck eyebrows, moisturise everywhere, paint your nails. Then spend another half hour flicking through a glassy magazine or some style blogs to see what you'd like to work towards looking like.

Always I'm sure I saw you link to that before. I'm not quite brave enough to wear it, but well done you if you are!

JemimaMuddledUp · 28/02/2013 18:50

Ooh, forgot to say what I'm wearing. Straight leg jeans, charcoal breton, black converse. Very boring.

Tomorrow I will be wearing a Welsh rugby shirt. And a daffodil Grin

Engelsemama · 28/02/2013 19:12

Jumping back in to fabulize Grin

DS finally seems better so I could go to work today. Was nice to be wearing something other than a hoodie and jeans!

cjbk1 · 28/02/2013 19:23

iv been dressing ok and mostly wearing make up but not 'done' my hair for a while this week so was hiding, is there something I'm supposed to do to avoid scarves snagging on Velcro and in zips? I bought a lovely Tu one the other day and it got ruined that day on Velcro (on the baby carrier or change bag straps i think) and woolly scarves go the same way or do we have to go for egyptian cotton high thread countage? I really am 'finished' for the day now zzzz

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 28/02/2013 20:17

Thanks Jemima - it is quite a leap for me so I just hope I'm brave enough to wear it when it comes!

Feelingood · 28/02/2013 21:38

trampy and jemima big big thanks, yes not nice people are ugly aren't they. Well I've pulled myself around a bit, but unfortunately there is no one that can have my dd. It's got to the point where she is mobile and a very sociable little girl and she is much harder work now (v easy baby) I am with one or both children for 14 hours per day, today was the fifth day in house alone except school run. So I have,

Txt some friends for coffee dates- then you. Have to make the effort don't you!
Put hair dye on
Filed and painted nails a shimmery gunmetal grey (had to got hair dye on nail!)
THEN I only did the MN HAIRCUT, not loads but enough to trim all through,
Blow dried and now have hair the same colour that's a bit swishy!
Slathered loads of moisturiser on face.
Have got a jersey wrap dress out (black hearts on tan background but Its mostly black) black leggings with long sludges aged block heal boots (seeeeya trainers, I love my superga's but they got to take a rest)

I shall do shaving and body scrub, face scrub in shower tomorrow morning.
I've got my make up out ready too.

I'm going to have a browse, I fancy a blazer....and grey skinnies, I have seen an iris blue top in mint velvet...it is payday too!

JemimaMuddledUp · 01/03/2013 21:28

Good evening fabulizers!

It is Friday night, and entirely possible that I have opened a bottle of wine...

It was my DC's school Eisteddfod today, and I was on PTA duty doing teas and coffees. It was the first time most of the parents and teachers have seen me without a coat on for a few months, and I had tons of compliments about how much weight I've lost Grin

I am looking forward to tomorrow. I have booked a facial and a Shellac manicure and am going to have some me time! I am hoping they will do my nails in this colour but with the ring fingers done like this. I can't have anything too wild as I need to look professional for the inspection, but I think this will be OK.

I have planned my outfit for tomorrow - slim fit jeans, white and navy breton, black jersey blazer, leopard ballet flats, long cluster necklace, red tote bag. I am still slightly scared of looking like my MIL in this outfit, but I think I'm just about young enough to pull it off without looking like I'm off to WI...

Feeling I remember when mine were that age it didn't feel like I ever had a moment to myself. But in the blink of an eye they grew up!
