New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Your nails sound great Always, how did the hair appointment go?

Guy I think the looking like my MIL paranoia is the same as the looking like Bet Lynch if I wear animal print paranoia. I will persevere and try to get over it...

I tried the leopard print ballet flats on in Clarks and decided to get them, but saved some money by ordering from very.co.uk where they were £30 instead of £34.99, plus I had a £15 off a £25 order voucher.

Boots have got a 3 for 2 on skincare offer so I bought some tea tree peel off masks as my skin is awful at the moment, really spotty.

Too cold to run this morning so I did 7 miles on the stationary bike instead. Then stood outside in the cold anyway watching DS1 play football and DD have a riding lesson!

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 23/02/2013 18:22

Jemima hair appointment went great. My hair is really short and quite spiky and it's now quite a bright copper colour with platinum blond round my face. It sounds totally mad but looks great!
I was out shopping with my sister today. She's much trendier than me so persuaded me to try on some things that I wouldn't normally. Think I just need to be a bit braver - and if I like something and it suits me I shouldn't worry about being a size 16.

TrampyPants · 23/02/2013 18:27

Hello all, how's tricks? I think I have gone alittle bit mad. Just ordered these boots, they are red, fgs!

My boyfriend jeans arrived the other day and I have decided that They do not look good. They are too baggy and unflattering. I shall stick to my baxters, I think.

Jemima, how's the blazer going? And woo hoo for the pumps, they sound ace. Try using baby shampoo on your face instead of cleansers etc for a while, its Brilliant.

Guy, your outfit sounds lovely, I bet you look great. Hats off to you for trying harem trousers, I'm too short to pull them off.

Always, nails sound great, how's the hair?

Twinkle, how are you doing?

TrampyPants · 23/02/2013 18:28

Xpost, hair sounds utterly fab! And yes, it's good to sometimes step outside your comfort zone.

Im a shorty too Trampy, but the next ones come in petite, regular and long lengths, and I find that downsizing means you dont look too mc-hammer-ish Grin I'll try them on tomorrow and let you know if Ive changed my mind...

Hope you all have a lovely evening, Ive just had a nice bath with a ballistic from lush, a facemask, and moisturised all over afterwards. So feeling nice and comfy and snuggly now. Which is nice because Ive had one of those days today where I was teetering on the edge of either crying or ripping someones head off... you know the ones? And so restless yet completely unmotivated.

Always - your hair sounds awesome, Id love cool hair but Im mucho lazy when it comes to hair Blush

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 23/02/2013 20:07

It's weird because when it comes to my hair I'll try pretty much any colour. But I'm too nervous to wear the trendy clothes I really like. And they're much more easily changed than my hair!

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/02/2013 12:41

Those boots are gorgeous Trampy I love the colour.

My blazer must look OK as I had lots of compliments last night when I wore it to the cinema.

I found some Avon Wintersoft Cleanser and Moisturiser at the back of my bathroom shelf so am trying that, washing the cleanser off with a flannel to try to exfoliate a bit. They are richer than the cleanser and moisturiser that I have been using recently. My skin has gone really wierd, really dry across my cheeks and nose, but lots of spots on my chin and around my hairline. Am not wearing any make up today to give it a rest. I'm sure its the time of year that is the problem, all the going from being cold outside to dry centrally heated air inside. Roll on spring!

Today I am wearing - straight leg jeans, charcoal breton, grey oversized cardi, black ballet flats and a long cluster necklace.

Ambassadoryouarespoilingme · 24/02/2013 13:11

hi Fabulizers
I'm so bored of this freezing weather! I'm not inspired by wearing trillions of layers so any joy in getting dressed is covered up by scarves, coats etc! Roll on spring. Today i'm in a floating coral spotty top with massive batwing sleeves, with a fitted red vest underneath and navy cords. But its Baltic, so its all covered with a huge cardi!
Still, off tomorrow for a few days away with my husband without the kids, so am so excited. I'll be packing all my favourite clothes and changing a few times a day, just so I can get the chance to wear them without getting covered in someone else's food, snot and glue!
Have a lovely week everyone, J

TrampyPants · 24/02/2013 13:44

Guy, let me know how you get on with them. I fancy a jumpsuit but am too afeared Wink

Jemima, thank you. I thought ooooh, bargain (£21) and I love the colour. Now I'm having shoppers remorse and am a bit wobbly. But they'll look goodwith skinnier and leggings. Outfit sounds very, andglad you have managed the blazer. I went blazer shopping with a friend the other day. Got her the next size down so it was fitted and rolled up the sleeves, it looked ace and not as MIL-y.

Ambassador, me too! It's knocking my joints around something chronic and I'm fed up. Still in pj's today, dh is working and I'm stuck at home. Going to practice eye make up later though.

TrampyPants · 24/02/2013 13:45

Oh, and have a nice break. Where are you going?

OP posts:
Ambassadoryouarespoilingme · 24/02/2013 13:54

We're off to Bath to a nice hotel, with a bargain on! Instead of about £180 per night it is £69 per night, inc breakfast. I'm so excited. Pre kids, I loved getting on a plane to somewhere exotic and very foreign to me. Now I just crave a clean, empty bed and some fluffy towels, washed down with plenty of wine!
Sorry you're hurting Trampy, you seem amazingly patient to be struggling with your condition but still posting on here lots, looking after your family and taking care of yourself. I hope the warmer weather comes soon and your joints can calm down too.

TrampyPants · 24/02/2013 14:01

Ooohthat sounds lovely. And yes, a bed that you don't have to make. That's the dream Grin

Thank you, I've not been on as much, it gets on top of me and I feel guilty and useless, but i go to see consultant next month and hopefully my meds will get sorted and I can get on with stuff.

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/02/2013 15:18

Trampy I've just been reading your blog and thought I'd mention that I've just ordered Gel Strength Base Coat from Avon. I've been using Strength for a few months and that is good, so I thought I'd try the gel one. I have short nails anyway as long ones would get in the way at work, but they seem to stay pretty healthy. I'll report back on it when the order comes!

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/02/2013 15:19

Sorry the second link should have been Gold Strength

TrampyPants · 24/02/2013 15:24

Oh thank you. I use gold strength and it has helped, but they are utterly wrecked atm. V annoying. And painful.

Got to take DS1 to the orthodontist tomorrow, so am hoping to get a sneaky couple of hours shopping in Shrewsbury Grin. Have got my eye on a cardi in H&M.

I am going to wear straight leg jeans, black flat knee high boots, grey oversized cowl neck jumper, black wool coat and a red handbag to add a bit of colour.

TrampyPants · 24/02/2013 18:19

Oooh, if ds wasn't off I'll I could have joined you. If you are in Shrewsbury and want a cuppa, yell.

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 24/02/2013 19:54

It is going to be a flying visit tomorrow. DS1 has the orthodontist in Welshpool, as long as his appointment isn't running late we are then going to catch the train to Shrewsbury for a bit. But next time we are there and it isn't a flying visit I will let you know!

Engelsemama · 25/02/2013 13:44

Am still here fabulizers but lurking as I deal with DS (d&v bug...when will it end?!). Will be back looking fabulous once I can get out of old jeans/jumpers (you never know when the next fountain of vomit or diarrhea will erupt Grin )

PS went back to get another pair of dark blue skinnies form New Look. I LOVE them!

TrampyPants · 25/02/2013 13:53

Jemima, that would be great. There's an ace coffee shop in the square.

Engels, booo for illingness. Its neverending, isn't it? My best friends baby son was in hospital all weekend with rotovirus, it's awful. Hope you all feel better soon though. Score on the skinnies!

Ds is off school with cold today, but I have got dressed. Which is a start Wink. Wearing my khaki cords, cream jersey, loose ls tee with a red vest under and a loose stripey cardigan over. It's a very comfy outfit that looks okay. My boots have arrived. They are very red. But comfy. And I love the ankle fit. I am torn.

OP posts:
Engelsemama · 25/02/2013 14:10

I am trying to see the bright side trampy. If DS doesn't go to nursery tomorrow then I will probably have to stay home and take him to GP. Can't inflict him on ILs and make them ill too (late60s/early 70s a a bit frail). If I do stay at home then I can continue my Oscar viewings - watched SL Playbook last night and Les Mis this morning avoiding marking and now going to put Brave on. Could watch Argo and Lincoln tomorrow perhaps.

Of course, this all depends on how much sick and poo I have to clean up Grin

GuyMartinsSideburns · 25/02/2013 14:14

Hey - IM IN BATH Grin Its beautiful here, you'll love it Smile

Well as is usual lately its bloody cold and Im in jeans, top, jumper AND a cardy! Im all about the warmth today. Havent been out and about aside from getting the kids to school, but the house is spotless Grin

I went to the inlaws for the day yesterday, wore jeans, converse, loose t top over a vest top, and a black boyfriend cardy. Perfect for lounging on mils sofa having a glass of wine with the fil Grin

GuyMartinsSideburns · 25/02/2013 14:15

Trampy - boots sound fab Smile

TrampyPants · 25/02/2013 14:36

Engels, every cloud Grin sympathies though, itsnot nice to clean up sick and poo.

Guy, Oooh, that sounds wonderful, I am very jealous. Better to be cold in a beautiful place than an ugly one! And thank you. I need to figure out what I would wear them with.

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/02/2013 18:52

Get well soon to all the poorly DCs!

We didn't make it as far as Shrewsbury as the orthodontist was running over half an hour late and then the appointment took forever as DS1 had to have x-rays etc. It was FREEZING in Welshpool too, and kept snowing.

Anyway, we had a mooch around the very small selection of shops there. I bought some black jeggings in M&Co. I find M&Co very hit and miss, we have one in town and it very much caters for the older woman, but it is opposite New Look and Dorothy Perkins so presumably wouldn't try to compete in terms of fashion. But in Welshpool there are no other fashion shops, and the M&Co seems to be geared towards a younger market.

I also tried on several pairs of boots in Stead & Simpsons, and none of them were big enough for my boat like feet! Sad

I went to Superdrug and bought some of their Vitamin E range (which is currently on offer) to try to sort out my horrible dry skin. I bought the Hot Cloth Cleanser, the day cream and the eye cream. I was also tempted by the skin oil, but I'll see how the other stuff goes first. The proper muslin cloth that comes with the Hot Cloth Cleanser has got to be better than the old reusable baby wipes that I am currently using to take my cleanser off! Shock

My leopard skin flats were delivered today and they are lovely. I am wearing them around the house before deciding whether to keep them though to make sure they aren't too wide.
