Anyone interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challenge?

HelgatheHairy · 08/09/2012 14:59

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challange?

I've read a few threads on this and the ones that had the best responce were the ones where there was a finish date, like the original one where it was a countdown to the Royal wedding. Otherwise the threads just tend to wither and die a bit.

If we were to start on 15th September (next Saturday), 100 days from that would be 24th December!

Between now and then there will be parties and other events and it would be nice to feel like it's not a last minute panic to feel ready for them and to have some "groundwork" done.

The original guidelines are as follows but feel free to tweek to suit your own circumstances:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

Personally, I'm changing no. 3 to use whitening toothpaste and no. 20 to a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

I'm also taking out no. 14 (as I know i'd never manage twice a week so there's no point) and adding one to remove make up EVERY night!

So my personal list is as follows:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitening toothpaste
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing 14. Remove make up EVERY night 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

The link to the original thread is here, if anyone wants to know the background to how the guidelines were chosen.

So is anyone in? I've posted early so people have a chance to gather supplies if they want. Please note I've been careful to avoid usage of the "C" word! I would also encourage people to personalise their lists. I know that if I see a list of things that aren't relevant to me I tend to not take as much notice of the bits that are relevant.

Starting Saturday, you say? Which gives me two days to draw up my list and a calendar-type thing. Should be do-able!

snowballinashoebox · 13/09/2012 08:23

We can do that in 2 days, count me in too please.
Just remembering how much my knees hurt the last time I let Gillian attack them.
I'll come back with my list later.

HelgatheHairy · 13/09/2012 13:11

Welcome everyone!!

Do you know what, I'll join you! I am not one to regularly keep on top of all these grooming habits but I really want to look a bit more polished on a daily basis. Here's my list:

  1. 8 glasses of water a day - trying to do this anyway (does it need to be filtered?)
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) - definitely need to do this - am getting terrible ingrowing hairs on my legs... yuck.
  3. Use teeth-whitening toothpaste - already do this
  4. Use anti-aging face cream - already do this too.
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) - never have nice nails as they have to be kept short for violin/ piano playing but I'm sure my hands could do with more TLC.
  6. Use eye cream - if I can find the damn stuff.... Grin
  7. Gentle exercise (gotta start somewhere and I know if I go for intense exercise I'll give up early)
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily - any breakfast I can force down is a bonus - I rarely feel like eating first thing...
10. Use intensive conditioning hair mask weekly (this works for me and saves splashing out on moroccan oil) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends - don't drink anyway! :) 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing - what does this actually do? 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up chocolate 18. No more fizzy drinks - I may break this on the occasional weekend outing as I don't drink alcohol, but will do my best! Am currently trying to break my Pepsi Max habit! 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m - may substitute this for herbal tea with honey - my voice needs it!

Thanks Helga I will get some flexitol. I need to give myself a pedicure pronto!

SomethingOnce · 13/09/2012 19:23

WhyIRayLiotta Flexitol cuticle and nail cream does the job for me and I have really bad cuticles. Little tube about a fiver but lasts ages.

When I have the discipline to use it daily, and soak and push back my cuticles regularly, it's like the before and after picture on the box.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 13/09/2012 19:40

I had my friend come round today and we are going to kind of do this together! I showed her my list and she's going to be doing a few things on it too. She also did my weight and measurements for me and we are going to weigh in together once a week and measurements once a month!

Quick question about body brushing. At what point in the morning routine should it be done? Before or after shower?

WhyIRayLiotta · 13/09/2012 20:59

Thanks SomethingOnce I will pick up some Flexitol Grin

MsKayGee · 13/09/2012 22:21

Quick update from me - week 1 and I'm not doing so well. I keep forgetting the vitamin tablet, I'm terrible at drinking enough water and I really don't have the time or energy for exercising any more than every other day. I need to buy some hair oil and a new body brush at the weekend. And I had a rather large glass of red with dinner tonight.

On the plus side I'm great at exfoliating and moisturising, legs and armpits are fuzz free and I've booked a bikini wax for next week. I'm well into this hot water/lemon of a morning and I've had fish three times already this week.

Must try harder to drink more water and force myself to have an early night!

roughtyping · 14/09/2012 09:42

Trying to do a version of this too - hair/skin/nail supplement, lots of water, exfoliating/moisturising and eating more healthily... Hard work!!!

gnomealone · 14/09/2012 10:43

I thought I would start off a bit earlier too as I know how crap I can be at these things. Things I have learnt so far that are breathtakingly obvious but am going to post anyway.

  1. Bloody hell it does take a lot of time but am hoping it will get easier
  2. it is much easier to do if you have the stuff out and to hand rather than scrambling about in cupboards trying to find them.

But it is working!!! just having non hairy legs and feetbalm on my feet has made me feel and look better already. Also taking vits and drinking more water has made me feel better too.

thank god my Shred has not arrived though so haven't had to deal with that yet

HelgatheHairy · 14/09/2012 12:22

kay I have problems remembering my vitamins as well. If I think of it in time I put them on the kitchen table so they're staring at me after I've finished eating.

gnome totally agree with the having everything to hand. I've just had a major reorganisation of the bathroom press and have everything to hand now

So its the last prep day, from tomorrow we go live!!

OP posts:
Paintyourbox · 14/09/2012 13:33

Ready to go here!

Just bought the last few bits I needed- body brush (which had better work as it cost me £10!), omega 3,6 and 9 to add into my usual vitamins, hair oil and floss.

For everyone struggling to remember the vitamins, I set a reminder on my phone to go off at the same time each day. It's the only way I remember to take them!

oopsiforgot · 14/09/2012 13:44

count me in! back later with my list.

blondieminxwithGOLDandORANGE · 14/09/2012 14:14

  3. Use teeth whitener ing toothpaste
  4. Use anti-aging face cream

No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.
MsKayGee · 14/09/2012 14:53

Paint good idea about the reminder on the phone, I'll try that. And £10 for a bodybrush Shock I got one from Home Bargains for £1.99. At least, I think it was a body brush, I'll have to double check. I also bought a new water bottle for the gym yesterday and after getting home realised that it was in fact a Tommee Tippee cup Confused.

I saw a review of hair oils in Look magazine and think I'm going to splash out £30 [gulp] on the Kerastase oil because it's meant to be great for fine greasy hair, unless anyone can recommend anything cheaper?

Lavenderhoney · 14/09/2012 16:14

Mind if I join you ladies? Started today a few off the list plus first shred attempt today:) then I found this thread! Going to look at it properly when I get to the computer, but I already know my biggest thing will be giving up a glass of wine at night, which worries me a bit! Not sure how all this stuff passed me by as a teenager, which was a LONG time ago, surely I should be in a routine by now... Still, better late than never. And keep the tips coming, very interesting.

Dosey · 14/09/2012 19:35

Hi ladies please count me in too. I am hoping that doing all these on the list in 100 days, not only will I look and feel fab it will also be so part of my daily routine that it won't be any effort. I seem to spend all my time on Dds and housework then I tend to neglect myself. Also if this eventually becomes second nature, then a healthy start to the new year won't seem so daunting. Well here goes, my list.....

  1. Exfoliate - I body brushed this morning

  2. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream - have read that Vaseline does a good job, another thing to do tonight
  3. The Shred / other intensive exercise - am doing the great north run on Sunday so doing lots of exercise at the moment.
  1. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day - made some veggie soup for lunch tomorrow
  2. Healthy breakfast daily - do this already, granola with yoghurt and fruit.
  1. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) - will try coconut oil in the morning.
  2. No alcohol - don't drink much anyway
  3. Take vitamins every day - I do this every morning after I have washed the breakfast pots.
  4. Will do this weekly as I body brush every morning
  5. At least 2 servings fatty fish a week. - I take fish oil with my vitamins everyday.
  6. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM - I will try this tonight
  7. Regular hair removal - must make more effort
  8. Give up one naughty favourite - this will be sugar for me
  9. No more fizzy drinks - don't drink many of these
  10. DAILY body moisturising - will start this
  11. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. - this will be green tea for me

Good luck to everybody else princessing x

planetpotty · 14/09/2012 20:45

Hello Smile I would love to join - thus is really what I need to give me a kick up the bum!

Will hot foot it out and get the bits I need in the morning.

I'm planning on doing the full list.

addictedisback · 14/09/2012 20:59

Hello all, I went on holiday and we had no wifi Shock phone signal was crap so I could only follow and not post.

I hope I've now sent out links to my blog to all thoes who want it, if i've missed you please pm me and I'll link you (there are rules about promoting your own blog outside the blogging pages, else i would just post here!)

quick question about vitimins what are you taking?

I normally take a vitimin b complex, vitimin c,d and e. I halso have added zinc to one of teh vitimins and when I can face additional tablets take an a-z and I have (but am yet to take regularly) a cod liver oil.

What will you be taking?

I also went in to boots today after hearing (along time ago) nivia Q10 was a really good moistureiser to use. I didnt realise its an anti wrinkle cream Blush I'm only 25 and am yet to have any lines or wrincles. Can anyone recommend a good moistureiser to use? Ive noticed after a shower in the morning my skin can be really blotchy and dry. I'm going to start using a home made lemon sugar scrub tomorrow morning, but if that doesnt solve the problem I need a good recommendation.

Also body moistureising, I've always used vaseline intensive care but have noticed on my legs it actually brings me out in a shaving rash Confused any recommendations?
