Anyone interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challenge?

HelgatheHairy · 08/09/2012 14:59

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challange?

I've read a few threads on this and the ones that had the best responce were the ones where there was a finish date, like the original one where it was a countdown to the Royal wedding. Otherwise the threads just tend to wither and die a bit.

If we were to start on 15th September (next Saturday), 100 days from that would be 24th December!

Between now and then there will be parties and other events and it would be nice to feel like it's not a last minute panic to feel ready for them and to have some "groundwork" done.

The original guidelines are as follows but feel free to tweek to suit your own circumstances:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily

10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc)
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends
12. Take vitamins every day
13. Body brushing
14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week.
15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM.
16. Regular hair removal
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps
18. No more fizzy drinks
19. DAILY body moisturising
20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

Personally, I'm changing no. 3 to use whitening toothpaste and no. 20 to a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

I'm also taking out no. 14 (as I know i'd never manage twice a week so there's no point) and adding one to remove make up EVERY night!

So my personal list is as follows:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitening toothpaste
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily

10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc)
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends
12. Take vitamins every day
13. Body brushing
14. Remove make up EVERY night
15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM.
16. Regular hair removal
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps
18. No more fizzy drinks
19. DAILY body moisturising
20. Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

The link to the original thread is here, if anyone wants to know the background to how the guidelines were chosen.

So is anyone in? I've posted early so people have a chance to gather supplies if they want. Please note I've been careful to avoid usage of the "C" word! I would also encourage people to personalise their lists. I know that if I see a list of things that aren't relevant to me I tend to not take as much notice of the bits that are relevant.

Oh another cheaper tip, instead of anti ageing cream use Nivea or Astral. My grandma has always used Nivea, lived on a boat ( think of the windburn and salt to fuck your skin up) and has amazing skin in her 80s.

Need to put my own tips into practise now.

Started as I mean to go on today, even though we have not quite officially got going yet. Bought vitamins yesterday (Sainsbury's has 3 for 2 offer, so got multivits, omega fish oils and co-enzyme-10 for energy). Exfoliated in shower this morning and have just slathered myself in body cream. Face always gets treated well so usual regime there. About to buy the Shred on Amazon so will have everything ready by the weekend.

Tried body brushing but it hurt! Am I using the wrong brush? Is there a special brush for this activity that I should know about? The brush I used just felt like it was going to take a layer of skin off!

  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) - as above.
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream - will use eye cream.

11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends - tick, I'm Never Drinking Again at the moment, after a night hugging the toilet last week.
12. Take vitamins every day - just dusted off the big pack of multivits and taken one. Does anyone else take anything really good in addition to the standard multivit?
13. Body brushing - Asda do a nice bodybrush for about £1.50 its in their spa range, not too scratchy. I will dig it out and use it.
14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. - Planning a low carb diet - this will work well.

17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps - Will try to give up bread. I fear I have an addiction.

pineapple i'm interested in decent shampoo too. I've always used Aveda Shampure but am trying to reduce my outgoings right now. ATM i'm using an Aussie one, whichever they recommend for daily use and it seems ok (but smells awful).

Origins Modern friction for facial exfoliation
Origins Clear Improvement mask
Small sample of Alpha H liquid gold

Yes indeed, blondieminx, it's kind of hard to feel at one's princessiest when one is missing the top layer of skin Grin. I wonder if there is a softer equivalent somewhere. My brush could take the paint off the walls.

I have amended my list a little bit to add a point about lip balm, hand cream and gradual body tanner. Will post later. So far today (and we have not even officially started yet), I have drunk a litre of water, exfoliated, moisturized, done the lash serum thingy and bought the Shred, which I fully expect will kill me as I am horribly unfit and sedentary.

This challenge is nice and all but it also makes me go why? What is it leading up to, what is this big event that needs such intense "princessing" effort? And after those 100 days, you have to continue in order to keep up the good looks, yes?
