Anyone interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challenge?

HelgatheHairy · 08/09/2012 14:59

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challange?

I've read a few threads on this and the ones that had the best responce were the ones where there was a finish date, like the original one where it was a countdown to the Royal wedding. Otherwise the threads just tend to wither and die a bit.

If we were to start on 15th September (next Saturday), 100 days from that would be 24th December!

Between now and then there will be parties and other events and it would be nice to feel like it's not a last minute panic to feel ready for them and to have some "groundwork" done.

The original guidelines are as follows but feel free to tweek to suit your own circumstances:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily

10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc)
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends
12. Take vitamins every day
13. Body brushing
14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week.
15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM.
16. Regular hair removal
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps
18. No more fizzy drinks
19. DAILY body moisturising
20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

Personally, I'm changing no. 3 to use whitening toothpaste and no. 20 to a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

I'm also taking out no. 14 (as I know i'd never manage twice a week so there's no point) and adding one to remove make up EVERY night!

So my personal list is as follows:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitening toothpaste
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily

10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc)
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends
12. Take vitamins every day
13. Body brushing
14. Remove make up EVERY night
15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM.
16. Regular hair removal
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps
18. No more fizzy drinks
19. DAILY body moisturising
20. Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

The link to the original thread is here, if anyone wants to know the background to how the guidelines were chosen.

So is anyone in? I've posted early so people have a chance to gather supplies if they want. Please note I've been careful to avoid usage of the "C" word! I would also encourage people to personalise their lists. I know that if I see a list of things that aren't relevant to me I tend to not take as much notice of the bits that are relevant.

I'm in too. Have put on too much weight since started working from home (up from size 12 to a very large 14) and I am appalled at how hideous my thighs & stomach are. Am planning a spa break with a bunch of friends next spring so really need to get myself sorted out a bit or will be too ashamed to wear a swimsuit. I do eat very healthily (apart from the extra cakes that have led to this er, problem) and look after my skin & nails religiously but there is so much room for improvement. If I can see a significant change by Christmas that should give me enough willpower to not go crazy over the festive period and then keep up the good work for spring. God. It's so depressing that rather than just be sensible and maintain my weight I have spent two years eating too much cake and now I am disgusted with myself.

Will revise the list a little and come back.

Pretty much agree with everything on the list:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day absolutely must do this; am very lazy about drinking water
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) yes: already take good care of my face but never bother with body
  3. Use teeth whitener will buy more Crest Strips
  4. Use anti-aging face cream already do
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) and work to soften up my rhino feet hands great; feet need attention, so yes
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream use eye cream already but need to use eyelash growth serum (have an unused bottle lying around that have been too lazy to use, how lame...)
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise sigh ... yes, I must
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day already eat 5 a day but will try for 6
  9. Healthy breakfast daily already do this

10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) don't have the right hair for this, but will do a hair mask once a week
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends I hardly drink anyway, so not a problem
12. Take vitamins every day yes yes, have bottles of assorted multivitamins that am too lazy to take
13. Body brushing yes
14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. yes, already eat fish but not twice a week
15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9pm. too busy to go to bed that early and would never sleep anyway
16. Regular hair removal armpits and legs fine but am ashamed to say bikini line runs riot so yes yes
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps don't eat crisps and could never give up chocolate, but will try to cut down Coke Zero habit
18. No more fizzy drinks see above
19. DAILY body moisturising yes! need to do this!
20. Warm water with lemon first thing yes!

Had a big reply written and lost it all so here we go again!

Some of these replies are to people who were on the thread last night but I don't like the though of people going unanswered. No one gets left behind on this thread. So aplogies if I miss someone or can't answer someone.

bessie I'm using whitening toothpaste, some people are using whitening products. I'm using Oral B 3D whitening, currently on 3for2 in Boots.

nanky VO5 is more of a hair treatment. Hair oil is an oil you can put on wet or dry hair, you don't wash it out and it makes hair lovely and soft and smooth. It doesn't make the hair oily (and I have very oily hair) I'm currently using L'Oreal extraordinaly oil mentioned here

Kate I think we definately need a discussion about products. I recomment the Soap&Glory Body butter moisturiser but have no idea about eye creams or teeth whitening (just sticking with toothpaste)

baby body brushing is about long smooth strokes always brushing towards the heart. So it's not about concentrating on one part of your body as such (although I always give my thighs more of a going over). I read somewhere once that it should take 15 mins to completly do your body. To be honest it takes me less than 5!

In general, can people recomment an eye cream and tooth whiteners in particular. Also let us know what exactly you're planning on using.

For me for my feel i've splurged on a micro pedi micor pedi as I can't get a hold of the soap & glory foot file. Also got Flexitol heel balm so I'm good to go on my feet.

Also I know some people don't like the term "princessing" but when I post the tread from next Saturday it will be known simply as the "100 day challange" so please do not let your dislike of a term stop you joining in.

copy and pasted from my blog post. Here is my list

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day I have a goal to drink 2 ltr of water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason) I have some home made lemon sugar scrub I'm actually really excited to try out for this one!
  3. Use teeth whitener How about we just concentrate on flossing and brushing morning and night, when I've got that down i might look at whitening products (I did warn you I was a slattern!)
  4. Use anti-ageing face cream I think just moisturiser in the evening after my cleanse and tone will be good. I'll defiantly be giving Nivea Q10 a go
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) Use hand cream every night and have at least a clear varnish on finger nails (then I will look at my feet)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream this is a step too far for me, so I will let this one go!
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise I'm actually quite happy with my size and shape right now, so I'm going to drop this one
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily

10. Use hair oil (Moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) Something I need to research on! is it like the heat serum? another product to use? or instead, so many questions, so little space!
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends I'm actually t-total so not applicable
12. Take vitamins every day
13. Body brushing Whats this? never heard of it, but very interested to give it a go.
14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. Hell NO! I hate fish! How about 1 portion of fish a month?
15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. I have a goal to be in bed by 10pm every night
16. Regular hair removal
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps I think this will have to be crisps, biscuits and fizzy drinks
18. No more fizzy drinks
19. DAILY body moisturising
20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. Another one I'm going to have to give a miss

Im actually quite excited about doing tis and will be making small changes now so its not a complete shock to the system come friday.
