Anyone interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challenge?

HelgatheHairy · 08/09/2012 14:59

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a 100 day "Princessing" challange?

I've read a few threads on this and the ones that had the best responce were the ones where there was a finish date, like the original one where it was a countdown to the Royal wedding. Otherwise the threads just tend to wither and die a bit.

If we were to start on 15th September (next Saturday), 100 days from that would be 24th December!

Between now and then there will be parties and other events and it would be nice to feel like it's not a last minute panic to feel ready for them and to have some "groundwork" done.

The original guidelines are as follows but feel free to tweek to suit your own circumstances:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

Personally, I'm changing no. 3 to use whitening toothpaste and no. 20 to a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

I'm also taking out no. 14 (as I know i'd never manage twice a week so there's no point) and adding one to remove make up EVERY night!

So my personal list is as follows:

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitening toothpaste
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing 14. Remove make up EVERY night 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily

The link to the original thread is here, if anyone wants to know the background to how the guidelines were chosen.

So is anyone in? I've posted early so people have a chance to gather supplies if they want. Please note I've been careful to avoid usage of the "C" word! I would also encourage people to personalise their lists. I know that if I see a list of things that aren't relevant to me I tend to not take as much notice of the bits that are relevant.

Giulietta - the shred is an exercise DVD by one of the trainers from the biggest looser. It is indeed torture but it does work apparently. I have managed to do mine twice!

Gnome (again) - I'm using the Oral B 3D whitening one. It's on special offer in boots at the moment which is a bonus.

I'm in, I have the shred dvd bought in Jan and still in its wrapper

Karbea · 08/09/2012 22:17

Hello,

Can I join in? I think w/e's might be hard for me as dh is a very bad influence. But I feel like I've let myself go and put on weight so defo up for joining in :)

Karbea · 08/09/2012 22:18

Are all these things everyday?

KateSpade · 08/09/2012 22:21

I am deffinatly in!

I will be back to post my version of the list!

i love threads like these!

Meggles76 · 08/09/2012 22:22

Yes, fizzy drink will be a killer for me too. Am a Pepsi max addict. Lost weight over last year after some tough times. Now want to focus a little time on me and get myself feeling good again.

Karbea · 08/09/2012 22:23

Can someone recommend a good eye cream for someone with slightly dark circles (late 30s)?

HelgatheHairy · 08/09/2012 22:40

Karbea - it is everyday yes. The important thing though is not to set yourself up for failure. The list is the ideal, but if you miss or skip something for a day or more, don't give up on everything else. That's why I think it's a good idea to personalise the list to what you think you can manage realistically.

RayofSun · 08/09/2012 22:43

Ok, I'm in but I need to keep motivated so am relying on you lot for that!

Karbea · 08/09/2012 22:45

What's the difference between exfoliating and body brushing then, won't they do the same thing? :thick:

HelgatheHairy · 08/09/2012 22:49

Karbea - my understanding is body brushing is mostly for cellulite and to encourage circulation and for the lymphatic system. Exfoliation is for helping remove the surface layer of dead skin.

Course I could be all wrong about that.

Count me in. Smile

BonnieBumble · 08/09/2012 22:53

I think I will struggle with the 9pm bedtime. I normally go to bed at around 11 in the week and 1 at the weekends. I might change that to 10:30 p.m.

TiaMariaandDietCoke · 08/09/2012 22:58

mrking my place to read in the morning - sounds good :)

gnomealone · 08/09/2012 22:58

helga thanks for the tip about the whitening toothpaste. I will give that a go! That is interesting that the l'oreal one was ok for you. I think however my hair is so dry (and coloured) anyway that it doesn't take much to make it worse. have had to use these type of shampoos for years and years. I think I am going to try the dermax just for two or three days to get scalp a bit better and then alternate between that and the body shop one and try and get one of the sulphate free ones as would love being able to just use 'normal' shampoo a bit more often. Feel quite despondent about it at times but need to stop whining and actually do something about diet etc as totally believe that is strongly related to scalp problems.

gnomealone · 08/09/2012 23:00

btw i don't want to derail anyone else from what they are going to do here but for me I think it might work if i do it one bit at at time and get each little bit embedded and then move on to the next one rather than all at once . I know this from years of failures trying to suddenly be 'perfect' and doing it all at once. Just doesn't work for me so I hope that is ok doing it the gnomealone wayGrin

bessie26 · 08/09/2012 23:05

I already do/need to continue:

  1. Use anti-aging face cream
  2. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  3. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  4. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  5. Healthy breakfast daily
11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 18. No more fizzy drinks * facial every other month * leg wax every month * no caffeine after 12noon

I have questions about

  1. Use teeth whitener - does "whitening toothpaste" count? If not, what do you use?
20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. - I have just warm water because my mum was told by her dentist that the lemon juice weakens your enamel - so you must NOT brush your teeth after drinking it. 13. Body brushing - how is this different to exfoliating?

Need to start

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 19. DAILY body moisturising

Will not be doing
17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps - I have one bar of G&B every week and I will not give that up for anyone!!
14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. - blergh. I will have 2 avocados & plenty of nuts to get my omegas thank-you! Grin

nankypeevy · 08/09/2012 23:10

Oooh, what a great idea.

Most Some of the things on the list are things I have never done. But, I am a frump and verging on unkempt unless I am going out.

Will write up a list of achievables and join in.

What is hair oil? Is that like the wee vial of VO5 I used to warm up in a mug and leave on in the bath when I was 15 that I haven't seen in the shops for a while?

Steep learning curve beckons...

Virgil · 08/09/2012 23:20

I'm in. Whilst reading this I have just taken my vitamin and cod liver oil smothered my feet in cream and put on cotton socks and done the same with the hand cream and the cotton gloves my friend bought me two years ago. I give myself half an hour in bed though before they bug me and I take them off.

Inneedofbrandy · 08/09/2012 23:32

I'm in, but weekday only and Davina dvd not the shred.

BagCrazy · 08/09/2012 23:37

Count me in ! What's with apple cider ???
Could someone also please tell how to do teeth whitening ? I don't drink or smoke, but still have off-whitish teeth. Have used all sorts of whitening tooth pastes.

blondieminx · 09/09/2012 00:11

I'd like to join too Smile it's been a rough year and some days I feel more minger than minx so this is just what I need!

Just done a huge Boots order and have added both the Cetaphil cleanser and that soap and glory foot buffer thingy which this board went crazy for a while back!

I have the Shred DVD - it works and the last of my mummy tummy is going Smile

perplexedpirate · 09/09/2012 00:30

I'm in. It's my birthday soon and I'd like to be looking significantly more attractive as I'm going for a posh meal with a bunch of pretty mates.
It's either princessing or getting uglier friends.
I'm getting Botox too. That's gotta help.

nankypeevy · 09/09/2012 00:32

some days I feel more minger than minx

I rather fancy this on a t-shirt.
