Why didn't you lot tell me about the wonders of setting lotion? Heh? Heh?

I have straight hair, totally and utterly straight, very fine and loads of it. No product has ever worked, everything either just vanishes in it or weighs it down and makes it even flatter and greasy looking. So why did nobody tell me about setting lotion?

Oooooh more info please... I could always google it but I'm keen to be sold on a new miracle hair product from a 'raving fan'

Yup, I mean the old lady stuff, traditionally used with rollers and hairnet. Dead cheap (usually) blue liquid. It's fab. Amazing. I have volume and body for the first time ever. Seriously. No heaviness, no stickiness, no loss of shine. Nowt.

and it lasts until hair needs washing again. Oh yes.

So how are you using it? I'm intrigued.

I have used it with sponge rollers just roll up virtually dry hair squeeze a bit along the rolled up hair and leave. Take out for charlies angels

Yeah, I think I'm going to try curls. 50's style grabs me. I suspect It'll work. Have never had a curl for more than 10 minutes in me life.

But, yeah. I've been putting it on nearly dry hair (all over and down to the roots) and blowdrying with plenty of fluffing at the roots. Sorted.

yeah it's ace. I desperately want to be able to rag my hair, and would use setting lotion if I could get the bloody rags to stay in. My nana used to do it but I could never get the hang of it

There was talk on here a while ago about some new fangled plastic spiral things that give the same effect as ragging. Don't know what they were called though.

Oh, and I bet it'd work a treat with that babyliss bighair thing people went mad for a while ago. I didn't get one cause I knew teh results would only last 5 minutes one me.

is it better than mousse? I am going to have a go at curling my thick but fine hair as it's never worked before for me - I keep stockpiling mousse and can't find a good one.

Erm yeah, I gave up on mousse about 15 years ago. Is pointless on my hair.

Do you promise it works? my hair only curls for my hairdresser and even then the curl falls out as I drive home.

I recently got a Toni and Guy deep barrel waver and it gives a beautiful wave but my hair is too fine and straight and floppy to hold the wave for more than a few minutes. However, if it's got a day or so worth of hairspray on it, it holds beautifully, with lovely pingy waves.

Hopefully setting lotion might be a shortcut!
