Why didn't you lot tell me about the wonders of setting lotion? Heh? Heh?

I have straight hair, totally and utterly straight, very fine and loads of it. No product has ever worked, everything either just vanishes in it or weighs it down and makes it even flatter and greasy looking. So why did nobody tell me about setting lotion?

would this work if i put it in and then used the Bab Big Hair with which i get lovely volume for only 5 minutes ?

How do I use it? Can you guide me through in eejit mode? Ta

I will sock bun again, just not with the stinky setting lotion.

I used it on my bob. Held the shape and volume pretty well, not stiff, sticky or crunchy.

If you're doing the sock bun, how do you get your hair to stay in place as you roll it up? I've had a look on the videos on the link posted earlier, tried it, and my stupid hair won't roll properly. Do you need an extra pair of arms?

I got the superdrug own brand stuff. It totally stinks of alcohol! Are they all like this? Is it not really drying?

Well I've used the Boots one I got in extra hold and it's BRILLIANT. I only quickly dried it but bit's that were flicky-outy last night are still flicky-outy.

I wonder if my very expensive hairdresser would object if I asked him to style my hair with this next time?

It's very shiny too and I didnt use any serum.

I too got the Boots one in extra hold and can confirm for anyone interested that setting lotion + Babyliss Big Hair = VERY big hair!

Am converted to setting lotion. Much more effective than any mousse I've tried and doesn't make the hair feel sticky or weighed down like mousse seems to. Thanks OP!

I bought one called Stayset, extra firm hold, from Superdrug. I opted for the more expensive brand, 'twas the princely sum of £2.08.

The instructions on mine say to use on towel dried hair, using enough lotion to wet the hair well. Then to style and dry.

Mmm sounds good however a few have mentioned it stinks (even without alcohol?) Anyone tell me how bad the smell is? Does it linger all day?

Mine smells ok once it's dried and the alcohol evaporates. TBH it works so well I'd tolerate it anyway! :D

I dont notice the smell on mine after a while, dh hasnt commented.

At first it smells like hairdressers smelt years ago.

I'm thinking of washing mine after Zumba tonight, then setting it on rollers overnight. I've only got the school run and rehearsals tomorrow if I look a complete tool

As the owner of a headful of very fine hair, I'm super duper excited to try setting lotion!

Well I'm very pleased with my results this morning, I washed it, put the lotion in and then rip off CurlFormers and have lovely spirals this morning. Going to pin it up a bit as soon as I get dressed :)

Glad you like it stella, the smell put me off more than anything.

But my hair was very smooth and straight the day after... But I still smelt odd :o
