WideWebWitch · 13/03/2006 09:06

Good morning all, welcome to week 3! A reminder of the rules:

Be as happy as possible. The odd night of booze and chocolate is fine
It's not a diet, it's trying to eat healthily and well, eat fruit and veg
Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
Some exercise, walking is fine
Use sunscreen at ALL TIMES
Take your make up off before bed
Get enough sleep, aim to be in bed by 10, 10.30 every night
Use handcream and join the horned hoof club on their thread if you have vile feet

Suzywong is Harvey from Fit Club and will pop in every now and again to say Good Luck to You but in her absence: Good Luck To You.

WWW - is it working? do you feel/look better?
(Feel crap meself this morning as have heavy cold)

Blackduck · 13/03/2006 09:29

ahh - thats better....

WideWebWitch · 13/03/2006 09:31

Feistybird, I'm sure that I would be feeling fantastic had I been following my own advice but er, I largely haven't. But this is a brand new week and I am going to be very good. However Winnie has been doing it properly (except this we) and she's lost so much weight her knickers are falling down so safe to say yes, it works!

Can I join? Been watching these threads, and think I've been doing many of the same things since start of Feb - having a general "body" spring clean.

I've not been dieting, but have had no alcohol for the past month. Have also stopped buying sweets, cakes, ice cream and other calorie laden treats. Have also been continuing to walk with my pedometer firmly in place - aim for 70,000 steps per week....though I only made it to 59,000 last week.

Also have booked myself into a weekly exercise session with a personal trainer. Last week was the first one, next is set for Wed am.

Have an appointment with a chiropodist (my first ever) tomorrow morning in hopes that I can get my feet ready for spring/summer.

Three things on the "plan list" that I'm not really doing at the moment, so need to add in are: more water, go to bed earlier, and sunscreen (eek!).

Earlybird · 13/03/2006 09:33

Oh - and I've lost 4 pounds. Not major, but still significant....and at least the numbers on the scale are moving down instead of up!

suzywong · 13/03/2006 09:36

Good Luck To You

Actuall I look more like Ava Gardener

winnie · 13/03/2006 09:36

WWW, you have reminded me of the most important thing: be happy. I felt miserable over the weekend... grief hits all over the place BUT also because ex will not let me go and I am finding it difficult to move on... have been ummmming and ahhhing about it being too soon to be going on a date but think I should consider it and just go and enjoy myself. Husbands loss and all that...
Now must concentrate of feeling and looking fab for that date...... OMG Shock

Thanks for setting this one up WWW. I am feeling a bit down at the moment for no particular reason so need to work on the "being happy" bit. I am aiming for the Mon - Fri without alcohol this week just to see if even the one glass is affecting my mood.

Have walked the children to school and will also walk to get them later. In addition I am going to walk DS to Pre-school every day this week.

I am very envious of those of you who are shedding the pounds and so feel greater commitment is needed on my part. I may keep a proper food diary to see just what extra things find their way down my throat when the children are back from school.

Going to hoover the house now and am shutting down the computer to avoid the temptation of sitting in front of it!

Good luck everyone!
(Winnie - a date! Excited or anxious? Can just about remember that strange feeling in the stomach.)

Tutter · 13/03/2006 13:29

Hi, can I join please? Have booked a personal shopping appointment for 2 1/2 weeks time and need to be on the right track by then - I plan on buying at least 2 pairs of fantastic jeans and am determined not to blow megabucks on clothes that fit on a fat day. Bad time to join: have just eaten a bag of mini eggs. Not the huuuuuge size bag, but still, a whole bag. Oink. My weak time is during DS's nap time. The fridge gets me in its tractor beam.

ScummyMummy · 13/03/2006 13:32

Tell tell tell about the date, winnie. You must go if only to give your fellow happiness seeking water gulpers a vicarious thrill!

ScummyMummy · 13/03/2006 13:34

Hi tutter. Welcome. Mini eggs are so yummy I think they must be allowed as an occasional happiness inducing treat, no? Especially as our esteemed leader has a penchant for cheesy wotsits...:)

Caribbeanqueen · 13/03/2006 13:49

Ok, here we go. Last week was a disgrace really, except for creaming. So I'm aiming for a better week this week. Glad I just saw this thread, as it has reminded me I shouldn't be eating chocolate right now, so I won't have any more.

Problem - had a bit of a spring clean yesterday and found about 7 bars of chcolate around the house. Very nice ones they are too, so I won't be able to relax while they are still here.

suzywong · 13/03/2006 15:27

as I mentioned on the week 2 thread, we went out for dinner to our friends' house and had: watermelon, red onion and feta salad, green salad, avocado salad, fresh garden tomatoes with basil, grouper fish sauteed, local wine and local(ish) mangoes with raspberry and rosewater sauce. All within the guidelines I think you'll find. Oh and Lindor chocs for afters and we dined al fresco.

not showing off, well not without invitation, someone did ask me what we would be eating

moondog · 13/03/2006 15:30

I asked.
I can talk menus all day long.

Sounds delicious!

ScummyMummy · 13/03/2006 17:39

That sounds divine, suzy.

suzywong · 13/03/2006 23:56

Yes it was Smile

WWW you are going to collate this and publish it as a Lifestyle book aren't you? Get HMB or some other science bod to do the maths and nutrition and you could make a fortune. Proceeds to charity of course, or does it all belong to MNHQ, I think they have copyright to all our posts don't they? As well as tiny cameras in our keyboards and wires in our brains.

WideWebWitch · 14/03/2006 08:11

Welcome new people. Suzy, that sounds lovely. Yes, chocolate eggs can definitely be forgiven, see below.

Yesterday I ate 2 pieces of toast slathered with butter; a salad with capers, tomatoes, beetroot, mackeral, capers, rocket and pine nuts and for supper cous cous made with veg stock and with added left over roast veg, carrots, yellow peppers, garlic and anchovies. And then a whole pack 100g Shock of mini eggs and far too much (wish you could do smaller, like 6pt, type on here!) Chablis. Going back to bed in a minute.

I also used sunscreen and WALKED to an interview, so about a mile and a half there and back. I didn't drink enough water though and I wasn't in bed by 10 O'clock. So a medium day really.

OP posts:
ScummyMummy · 14/03/2006 08:24

Ate FAR too much yesterday, including masses of v fattening but delicious cheese and 3 glasses of vino. Not nearly enough water either. And NO exercise. Oh dear. Wore sunscreen even though I didn't go outside though!

Started well, ended not so well.
Had toast for breakfast, dahl for lunch and a prawn and mango curry for tea...and then we finished the wine box (okay, only about a bottle in it, but was rally trying not to drink on a school night...). More water yesterday - so good.
Bad night's sleep so look about 110 as opposed to 100.....

bossykate · 14/03/2006 09:10

hi everyone

i'm back after a rubbish week last week (too embarrassed to post my list of failures! Blush) and i excused myself yesterday as it was my birthday.

so once more into the fray....
