Good morning all, welcome to week 3! A reminder of the rules:

Be as happy as possible. The odd night of booze and chocolate is fine
It's not a diet, it's trying to eat healthily and well, eat fruit and veg
Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
Some exercise, walking is fine
Use sunscreen at ALL TIMES
Take your make up off before bed
Get enough sleep, aim to be in bed by 10, 10.30 every night
Use handcream and join the horned hoof club on their thread if you have vile feet

Suzywong is Harvey from Fit Club and will pop in every now and again to say Good Luck to You but in her absence: Good Luck To You.

Don't be too hard on yourself, winnie. Being kind to yourself should definitely be in these rules. And I'm with batters on wanting the date news sooner than at once!

That pasta sauce sounds utterly delicious, mi.

winnie · 14/03/2006 21:03

oh Batters & Scummy, I am chickening out ... nice guy BUT I feel like I am being unfaithful so guess it's not time yet... EVERYBODY keeps telling me I need to do something to move on and being asked out on a date was lovely... but I am not feeling great about myself and I need to in order to (at Xmas time I was but just after Mum died x asked to start over and it has thrown me)... I think I am sabotaging my weight loss in order to keep all men (inc x) at bay... Now you all know I am mad Grin Ho hum.... it's all a thread on it's own really.

moondog · 14/03/2006 21:34

Yoyo,I'm presentable but certainly not as splendid as your vision of me.
I have had a wild wild youth and am attempting to stave off the effects of years of debauchery.
It was bloody good fun though...Grin

Have no problems keeping away from bad food.
Cheese and bread and very nice wine are my downfall!

ScummyMummy · 14/03/2006 21:42

Sabotage really makes sense when things are as tough as that I think, winnie. But it's not the only way. As you know being on this thread and already having got a skin routine and a water quaffing routine. Tu est un étoile.

Callmemadam · 14/03/2006 22:09

Good-ish day
Muesli
Handful of nuts n seeds
2 Large Skinny Cappucinos
Home made lentil soup + piece of bread (whoops)
Handful or two of seeds 'n nuts
Homemade (yeah, eat yer heart out, Gordon!) Yakitori chicken kebabs with broccoli (Waitrose Recipe Card this week, low fat and delish)
No Wine!!

Going to bed now (v early for me, so night night and hope the cat doesn't pee, MI)

yoyo · 14/03/2006 22:18

Moondog - will we ever get the details of your wild, wild youth? I sometimes think that I present the image of such a "good" person that noone could guess at my younger days! I am quite happy to keep it up although have surprised a number of people we have had around for dinner. I occasionally hanker after those days and suspect I will fleetingly return to them some time. The other day my DD2 said "has Gramps ever been drunk?" and I said "do you think I have been?" She said, in all seriousness "don't be silly mummy, you wouldn't"!! Such innocence.

bossykate · 14/03/2006 22:20

hello everyone

a much better day today for me. have done most things pretty well or at least better than my recent dismal performance. today's sins - 2 pieces of birthday cake and finished off yesterday's birthday cava. if the current trend continues, i will be as good as moondog in four weeks time Wink

ScummyMummy · 14/03/2006 22:22

Are you saying Moondog's wild youth was only 4 weeks ago, bk?

WideWebWitch · 14/03/2006 23:04

Well done everyone, well done! Just popped in to tell you how impressed I am with you all :)

Today

6 (yes, SIX) pieces of toast

CountessDracula · 14/03/2006 23:07

oh I can be smug now (for a change)

Grape Nuts

Bacon and lentil soup

organic pork stir fry
melon and raspberries

Exercise bike and lots of situps

HA!

(makes up for appalling weekend)

ScummyMummy · 14/03/2006 23:11

I had lots of cheese for dinner. Mitigated very slightly by wholegrain bread accompaniment and a tomato.

swedishmum · 15/03/2006 00:46

I'm still up (v bad). Working out how to tell ds's school he's leaving tomorrow. Bit difficult for me as am doing research there on Thursdays! Hence wine tonight. There's always a reason in our house....

Earlybird · 15/03/2006 07:05

Massive hijack alert....

Morning moondog - to answer your question, yes I have family there. Will drive to Birmingham Alabama to see mum, my sister/her dh and their ds. It's a beautiful city - which most people don't expect. Then will drive NE deep into the Alabama countryside (near Tenn/GA border) to visit another sister/her dh, who live on the edge of a lake - we sit at their breakfast table and watch wild cranes. Then on to Nashville, where I have lots of cousins, and a big (completely furnished and uninhabited) house as I thought I was moving there a few years ago. And finally, we'll spend some time at a farm situated high in the bluffs of east Tennessee, overlooking the Cumberland River - we currently have eagles nesting there. It's also populated with deer, owls and many other wild things. We'll do lots of hiking, some fishing, grilling out and watching the stars. We'll also plant the vegetable garden, and will enjoy looking at all the wildflowers, which are apparently coming into bloom now.

So, I have a bit of a double life - just like you! BTW - I spent alot of time as a child at summer camp in the east Tennessee Smoky Mountains(Crossville), and went to college in South Carolina. It's a wonderful part of the world, and you're lucky to have discovered it.

But to meander back on topic - will I be able to stick (generally) to the Ten Years Younger plan? Will be tough - extremely!

Blackduck · 15/03/2006 08:19

Good (apart from the four digestive biscuits - was staving and the only shop anywhere near where I work doesn't do fruit...felt the buiscuits were probably better than a bar of choc!). Had half a glass of white wine, and decided it was yuck and went to bed. (Really seems to taste different somehow?) Also its that time of the month- but I've actually felt better than I usually do...
Better on the water front too...

WWW hope you had a glass of Champers for all of us!

Thanks Batters & Scummymummy :)

The day has started well.
One thing that I began at the start of this is starting the day with lemon and hot water and that is certainly part of my daily routine now.
Ate prunes, banana, organic natural yogurt and a tsp of honey for breakfast and am on my first bottle of water for the day. Fingers crossed it lasts :)

Well done everybody :)

winnie · 15/03/2006 09:14

Batters, the time it now takes you to walk to work has to be a sign of getter fitter. Well done :)

WideWebWitch · 15/03/2006 10:15

Earlybird, I want to come with you, it sounds wonderful! Batters, I'm sure doing the walk faster is a sign of getting fitter, absolutely. I don't have a hangover because I slept in until 9am, dh dealt with the children which was lovely!
Winnie, you have had a tough time, carry on being nice to yourself. Well done everyone.

moondog · 15/03/2006 11:01

Ah www,so how was shore leave then???

EB,I am envious.
I think one of the high points of my time in the South (nay,my life) was sitting in an ante bellum mansion with a mint julep in my hand. Heaven.....

The other was driving very fast around Savannah with a most agreeable Southern gent, beer in one hand, fag in the other, feet on the dashboard and the Allman Brothers playing very loudly indeed.

Grin
ScummyMummy · 15/03/2006 11:52

Batters- shaving that much time off your walk to work is amazing. Of course you're getting fitter you bananahead.:)
I'm home with ill boys today so not likely to get much walking/cycling in. Instead have done some muscle toning exercises that I cut out of Red magazine at Xmas and have done once in a blue moon since. They end with 3 x wall squats- basically put your back flat aginst the wall and lower yourself into a squat so you look like you're sitting down but without a chair. then you stay there for 1 minute. Sounds easy but i found it more of a killer than the rest of the exercises put together. Have had museli and yogert with a grated apple for breakfast which feels extremely virtuous. Need to drink some water now. Might get dresses and put some creams on too for good measure.

ScummyMummy · 15/03/2006 11:53

Er, am not going to put cream on dresses! Am going to put it on myself then get dresseD.

granarybeck · 15/03/2006 12:21

Yippee! my liz earle stuff finally arrived this morning! is so nicely wrapped isn't it? DD and ds were nearly late for school having found the polistyrene (sp?) bits and i was so engrossed in new products to notice they'd got it everywhere!

Porridge for brekkie. Going to have tomato and basil soup for lunch and avoid popping away from desk for post lunch coffe/chocolate craving.

ScummyMummy · 15/03/2006 14:21

I was idly reading the ingredient list on the vogel bread i used for my sarnie this lunchtimeand realised it's made with white flour.. Does this mean it's bad despite all the added kibbled wheat, soya beans and linseeds? Was v tasty so I suspect the worat...
