The rules are:

Eat healthily but this isn't a diet, just eat well
Drink less booze. I'm going to go for 6 weeks of NO booze but you can join and just drink in moderation
Do some exercise at least 15 minutes/day, I will be doing as many brisk walks as possible, I don't really like any other exercise
Take your make up off every night
Use sunscreen every day
Get more sleep. I am going to try to be in bed by 10pm at the latest every night

That's it. Who's in?

Blackduck - I quite like the Liz Earle light moisturiser as I still have T-zone oiliness. I also like good old Clinique but that is probably heavy on the chemicals.

Sonnet · 01/03/2006 14:35

Late signing in - sorry!
No alcohol yesterday - and eat fairly healthily.
I have been exfoliating face and body and moisturising night and morning. Had manicure yesterday. Had over 2 ltrs of water yestaerday and 1 ltr so far today!
Exercise though is zero!
Am planning a deep hair conditioner tonight.
Was told today that my face looks all healthy and glowing!!

SorenLorensen · 01/03/2006 14:39

I don't want to be ten years younger, I want to be 17 years slimmer Grin

Caribbeanqueen · 01/03/2006 14:43

Have just found this and will follow though may not join up fully in case I fail!

I will drink more water
I will eat more fruit and veg
I will get an spf
I will wash face before bed

I may drink less, but not sure about that one
I will try to walk more but it's not easy
I definitely need to do something about hands and feet, as all scaly.

Does anyone know the best thing for under-eye bags?

bundle - i misread your post first time i saw it. Spent ages trying to work out what you meant by "snipping at a fridge". Had visions of you getting shouting at the fridge for not containing any naughty goodies.

soyabean · 01/03/2006 14:59

I'm late, but can I join? Ate so many pancakes last night (children found Marsbar sauce too rich so what could I do but try to finish it...)and must DO SOMETHING. I'm not hugely overweight ans am tall but my tummy is huge and horrible and spills over, yuk.
I do eat well, but eat too much choc and cakes when they are around too.
Booze I am drinking much less of these days but tomorrow is my book group and wine is an essential component...But will stick to 1 - 2 glasses.
I walk a lot but need to get the bike out and cycle to work again (once threat of snow has gone)
rarely wear makeup, tho I have been thinking I need it (am 43)
Moisturiser has sunscreen in
Bed at 1030: have to watch news and drink camomile tea with dh and ds1 at 10. But will not have traditional biscuit with it. Mondays are the exception due to ER. Oh, and book group tomorrow...

This is a great idea, thank you. How long are we sticking to it?

bundle · 01/03/2006 15:00

Grin piggiesmum I do that too

WideWebWitch · 01/03/2006 15:09

Welcome soya, we are doing it for at least 6 weeks, and then we'll review and regroup. If I get a job in that time I may have to delegate!

Exfoliation every day is surely too much and too harsh isn't it? Well dome on healthy eating sonnet

Caribqueen welcome.
SorenL, yes, me too, that would make me v skinny

I'm drinking loads of water and getting bored of going to the loo so often but needs must

I'll join. Desperately need to get to bed earlier than 12 but haven't managed it one day this week so far (watched 3 episodes of west wing last night - couldn't switch off Blush)

I have lost 12lbs since jan on combination of no booze (gave up until half term)and mild weightwatchers (doing points but not meetings). Want to loose 4 more lbs so trying not to drink (limiting to a couple of glasses at weekends). It took me at least 10 days of no booze to feel better when I did it before - mind you it WAS after Xmas.

My top tip for great skin - hot water with slice of lemon and chunk of fresh ginger first thing. And Liz Earle...

Am also big fan of nairns ginger oatcakes for staving off biscuit cravings.

Need a new haircut too. Am about to start thread to help me find a pic.

Gingerbear · 01/03/2006 15:50

lol at 'mild' ww.
Agree re ginger oatcakes - they are good aren't they. (Am just off to buy another pack...)

swedishmum · 01/03/2006 22:40

Booked haircut for next Tuesday - can't get a babysitter before. However I have been very busy moisturising and using Flexitol and cotton socks on my feet. Also drinking more water.
Any good tips/products to get rid of dark circles? I've always had them. I'd like to get rid of them to reduce my reliance on YSL touche eclat!

No bad here - loads of fruit, less tea (usually drink gallons of the stuff), reasonably healthy dinner. No booze...
Early, but disturbed night, shill sharing with ds, but own bed tonight!
Still no moisturiser.
Felt cr*p yesterday evening (detoxing?)

Batters - I think it probably can...caffine is additive and so is booze (don't have to be an alcholic for your body to get used to it...). SO when you start weaning youself off it hurts...Grin

WideWebWitch · 02/03/2006 09:36

I feel crap too. Day 3 of no booze and STILL didn't manage to get to sleep for 10. I was in bed from 9.30 with a book but dd woke and screamed/needed cough mixture and cuddles so by the time I finished dealign with her and read a bit I suddenly realised it was 11.20 Shock! I was about to get into bed without taking my make up off though but thought of you lot and did it. I also wore sunscreen yesterday and drank lots of water but also had pizza for supper so that wasn't good. But avoiding opening a bottle of Chianti to go with it WAS good I think.

Definitely, definitely going to have an early night tonight. Btw, Red magazine recommends exactly what we've been doing for looking younger!

Swedishmum, glad to hear it re haircut, well done. Keep it up everyone else, nearly at the end of the first week, I reckon we'll all start to feel and look a lot better by the end of next week.

Had a brilliant day yesterday. Lots of walking, drank my 2 l of water, healthy meals all day and bed by 9. Slept like a log! No alcohol. Feel very virtuous.
Don't think DH is so keen as he usually works until late and then we stay up to catch up on each other's days. Maybe he'll feel differently when (if) the new me emerges at the end of six weeks!

Hope those of you who are feeling crap have a good day today.

suzywong · 02/03/2006 09:45

Good Luck to You

me; 4th day with no booze, may have a glass of local red tonight, no carbs after 6pm and walking to and from school plus a 45 min workout to a dvd while ds2 napped. Gotta drink more water though.

yoyo · 02/03/2006 09:47

SW - are you still following CSRIO?

suzywong · 02/03/2006 09:51

ummm...yes, in principle but the menus are so parochial I don't really get the urge everyday, but adhering to the set units of protein, carbs, veg etc. I find it easy to plan the dinner around what 200g of protein feel like and if I make sure I eat regularly throughout the day with no big stomach-churning gaps it's ok.
Haven't put on any more but have plateaued at a 4kilo loss over 6 weeks.

I just don't fancy carbs after 6pm anyway and don't graze or eat snacks just because they are infront of me, it really has eductated my pallet and appetite.

Must do more exercise though to get rid of the last 3 kilos ( I am abidding on a Geri Bloody Halliwell yoga dvd on ebay but only because the vendor lives round the corner and I can save on postage)

how are you going, did you get into it?

yoyo · 02/03/2006 10:02

No I didn't but haven't ruled it out yet. The flu bug that has been going round hit all of us and thinking about dieting when you are mopping up sick or crawling out of bed yourself is nigh on impossible. I am eating quite well at the moment but not really losing weight. Like you I need a push on the exercise but will wait for my energy levels to get back to what they were before embarking on a regime.

winnie · 02/03/2006 15:52

I've had another good day :)
Am feeling good (and noticed my jeans are quite so tight today :)) Am drinking 2litres + a day... and have stopped peeing quite so much (thank goodness). Fruit and veg intake increased. Pampering has simply become part of the daily routine and tonight I am doing yoga. Feeling good.

WWW, I bought Red magazine today so will feel smug reading that when I eventually get chance.

Well done everyone :) :)
