New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Yay Wilbur - welcome back!

I cannot post coherently as my brains are completely mashed from a serious excess of alcohol and very little sleep. Dd babysat ds for the first time ever last night and dh and I went to a real, proper PARTY. And got really, properly pissed as farts (dh can still drink for another 3 weeks Grin ) and danced in an idiotic manner. Dd is mortified as one of her teachers was there. Grin And then we walked home with our neighbours and fell over alot. And then I decided it was a completely good plan to walk the dog at 2am. Shock

ds had a party to go to at 10am. Luckily it was only 10 mins walk away.

Sounds great! I have some bright coral which I love.

DD came in and collapsed in tears at 4pm. I tucked her up in bed and she slept and seems revived - scoffed her dinner down OK just nowWink

Blackduck · 16/07/2012 20:32

Packed ds off to potential new school for a day....he came out loving it, say it was fab :) he has even said he wants to do the residential in September (never gone on a residential before...) sighs of relief from dp and I - now just need to pack, arrange childcare, move, unpack.......

bigTillyMint · 16/07/2012 20:40

That's great news BDSmile

TheReturnOfStropperella · 16/07/2012 20:46

Sounds very positive BD. And all that moving stuff - easy-peasy.. :)

Ruby, I shall dob you in to the HoC Grin

I have almost got rid of my hangover, but still need to catch up on some sleep. Oh dear, I really can't take the pace any more. Mind you, it sounds like BTM's dd is the same. Grin

Quick S&B query: are leopard print shoes a bad thing per se? Just wonderin'...

oldqueenie · 16/07/2012 23:49

leopard print shoes are (generally) a very very good thing....

Stropps - are you offering your services on the moving front? :)
Kind of S&B - am going to black tie do tomorrow night (don't ask) - please tell me I don't need a long frock....

Reporting in on the magic swimsuit from holidaysGrin It's staying up fine, but is very tiresome to wiggle in and out of. I could do with a bit more magic-ness around the tummy, but I might have to forego breathing at that point...

It's very hot here, about 43 degrees (in Turkey) but by the power of wifi, I can MN by the pool. Heaven....

The white boobed one is more successful but harder to get in and out of..

Eyeing up the long black dresses the old Turkish ladies wear. No need for magic tummy panels there...

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2012 10:56

beachyEnvy

Blackduck · 17/07/2012 11:56

Did you have to mention 43 degrees....? eyes up jumper and raincoat....

TheReturnOfStropperella · 17/07/2012 12:10

I can see the SUN!

(probably won't last, mind)

Cripes,I've just realised this thread is almost at the dizzy heights of 1000 posts, and I haven't posted for aaaages. I've lurked a few times, then been distracted by some tiresome domestic chore before I've had the chance to type anything.

I had a mental week last week, but we are currently enjoying a total absence of noise, stress, mess......as we are two children down. DS and DD1 are separately wreaking havoc on the continent on school trips, and I have to confess it is mighty dull without them (no offence, DD2). I have just about recovered from Monday's 5am start to wave them off.

Here's a little quiz for you. Guess how many cans of Lynx DS took to Germany for his 4-night break? Five. That's right, five. And a can of Sure. And two bottles of aftershave (DH's cast-offs; the ones too stinky for me to let him wear). Grin He would not be persuaded to leave any behind. The Germans will certainly smell him coming.

BTM - Well done to your DS for his Level 5's - DD1 managed the same and is equally chuffed - high five!

In S&B news I have done lots and lots of sale shopping (very naughty), so if I get a moment I will post links to all my booty so you can pass judgement on my poor taste give it the crepey seal of approval.

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2012 20:28

CV your DS sounds like mine in the Lynx departmentGrin And congrats to your DD too!

I see that M & S now stocks Filorga skincare which my blingy beauty friend swears by. I don't think it is very cheap, though. She swears by the Sleep & Peel.

I am Fed Up tonight and a MN friend is coming round shortly to help me finish the Chardonnay.

I wish French Yoof would use Lynx. Soap would be nice. I was queuing at Disney behind a group at the weekend and you could smell the BO a mile off. What must their underpants have smelled like?

TheReturnOfStropperella · 17/07/2012 21:31

Sorry to hear that you are Fed Up, MrsS. Anything to do with AB, perchance?

Ooops, I missed that bit of news about your ds's L5s, BTM. Well done him - and well done also to CV's dd1.

ds (in Y2) took special extra papers for his SATs and got L4 in literacy. But he is such a slacker that I wouldn't be surprised if he just coasts along at normal pace for the rest of his school career.

I have committed to going on a school trip to the beach tomorrow. This means it will rain, for sure.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 17/07/2012 21:33

(am still smirking at the thought of all those Germans that are currently choking on Lynx fumes)
