New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

D'you know, it strikes me that MrsS's (oooh look at all those Esses) boss is an Arse, what d'you think? Grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 09/07/2012 21:17

I think MrsS needs to give him an ArseBoss t-shirt. When she leaves, obvs. He is probably - despite his many shortcomings - qualified to be the Boss of his own Arse, even if of nothing else. Grin

motherinferior · 09/07/2012 21:22

Perhaps we could also have a small one made for the mini-Herb, when bottom control becomes a lovely reality?

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/07/2012 21:58

In my extreme youth like when I was about 22 I used to have vigorous sex go out with a man who had a fine line in T shirts with slogans. One particularly fetching one said "Never mind the screams of passion, whack it up her doggy fashion". Another one said "Smell My Finger." "ArseBoss" seems quite tame in comparison.

I also came back to two members of my team complaining about their appraisals. My assistant seems to think she is "outstanding". Oh how I laughed. I think she is barely effective. Oh and another member of my team wants to put in a complaint about ArseBoss. I am giving him benefit of my wisdom tomorrow and we are having a little session on "upward management." Unfortunately, I do agree with his assessment, but the way he is going about things is a bit "bull in a china shop" and he needs to calm down a bit.

herbaceous · 09/07/2012 22:46

DS is pretty much mastering his arse, a fact I was particularly grateful for as he announced on a packed bus, stuck in Leyton traffic, 'I need a poo poo. I want to do it on the potty, on the bus.' I managed to persuade him to wait until we got home, which was some considerable time. Olympic traffic, you know.

Re size of house, it's a pretty standard Victorian terrace, but with large rooms. Not really large enough for the number of people, however, and with a number of bottlenecks in the hall, doorways, etc.

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2012 10:37

Stropps, all the best to you and your poor DH - I'm not surprised you are all upside-down. The waiting must be awful - at least when he is having the treatment you can get on with coping with it. And the worries about money {{{}}} Keep us up-to-date with how it's all going.

DD came home with a letter about an end-of Y8 jolly yesterday - to Chessington on the same day as DS is going with his Y6 leavers jolly. They were both thrilledShock I was less thrilled - £40 for the trips plus ££ for spending money....

Blackduck · 10/07/2012 12:41

Hi All, sorry life is tough at the moment Stropps - must be weird, as you say, to feel okay, and know as soon as treatment starts you won't feel okay....anything we can do let us know.

MrsS hope ArseBoss isn't too much of a pain today, I think you are probably better off out of it, even if it is a pain in the bum.

So following dog scab, ds shingles, I had a forzen back/shoulder and was in agony - partly stress I am sure.

House thing seems to be going remarkably smoothy (aside from the fact I am having severe cold feet about the one we are thinking of buying) - not helped by the fact dp won't engage with me on my concerns (he thinks I'll be fine once we are in, and maybe I will and maybe I won't).

Herbs - sounds like a fun journey (not!!)

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/07/2012 22:39

AB and I avoided each other today. If we can manage to do so for the rest of the week, it will be fine.

BD - if you do decide that you don't really like the house, you can always move again!

Blackduck · 11/07/2012 09:38

Ahhh MrsS DON'T say that!! The thought of moving again brings me out in a cold sweat! Actually if it happens we will have done the whole thing in 2 months which is pretty amazing really........We are (we think) at 5+ weeks and counting - but dp has inconsiderately booked a 2 week conference in the middle of this, so guess who is packing (again) - I am thinking we pay for a full on removal service!

bigTillyMint · 11/07/2012 17:25

Yes, full-on removal service if he isn't going to have to do anythingWink

Oooooooooooooooh get you Rubes (and belated happy birthday!) it's a long time since a colleague fancied me. In fact it was Mr Inferior who is currently is filthytempered Ill. This is profoundly wearing.

I have Work Dilemmas, but am too knackered to go on about them at the moment. Will overshare anon.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/07/2012 22:10

I had an enormous lunch today and am still stuffed. Remind me next time not to have the pate en croute followed by pork and watercress, followed by cherry clafoutis. It was wonderful but too heavy. I should have had the soup, or followed the pate with the fish. I groan.

I have three enormous spots on my chin and the beginnings of a beard. Even DH takes his glasses off when we go to bed.

bigTillyMint · 12/07/2012 06:16

ruby, I don't think I said Happy BirthdayBlush And glad to hear a fellow crepey still has it in herWink even if he is a twunt!

DD looks terrrible and is completely knackered and has a cough/cold. I am trying to make her have a day off, but no she has a history assessment today and "can't miss it" (favourite subject and teacher) and tomorrow is her PE teachers (2nd favourite) and the art teachers (also a favourite) last lesson, so she can't miss Friday either. She has gym training all weekend and a comp on Sunday... WWYD?

Blackduck · 12/07/2012 08:35

BTM - hum, let her go if she wants to, but point out the potential pitfalls? (i.e. could impact on weekend stuff?). Early nights, good food, lots of drugs?!

Wow MrsS I am not surprised you feel stuffed!

I am (trying) to low carb - god its hard - hoping might get easier when dp goes away because I can eat salad to my hearts content (does that sound terribly boring?)

The sun is actually shining here - it is almost summer-like :)

TheReturnOfStropperella · 12/07/2012 09:42

The Olympic torch is passing through two streets away from our house today, but we will miss it as will be in Poole hospital. Contrary as I am, I suddenly feel cheated of my chance to see it - even though I was previously planning on not being arsed to see it. Grin Ds's school is taking all the pupils to go and stand in the rain to watch it. Dd's school is completely ignoring it.

BTM, I second BD's suggestion of very early bedtimes and some meds (and pointing out that she could end up missing the gym comp if she pushes herself too hard and gets REALLY poorly). Sometimes they have to learn these things the hard way. And the hard bit is not just for them: I find parenting a teen very hard work. I am in awe of all you lot that have to manage two or more at once.

herbaceous · 12/07/2012 15:12

The sun was shining here earlier. Seems to have come to its senses now though, and once more the skies are grey. This weather is really starting to BOIL MY PISS. By the time we get any decent summer it will be September, and it will feel like we've hardly had any year at all. And I've got the summer holidays looming, when there'll be no toddler activities to resort to, and all the parks and soft play places will be filled with scary big boys.

I'm going out on Saturday night with some old pals, Up West. There will be lots of graphic designer types, and it's in Marylebone. This naturally introduces a wardrobe crisis. I'm not Sainsbury's clothes are going to cut it.

bigTillyMint · 12/07/2012 16:43

Well, she wouldn't listen to me (of course) and is now back home with a friend looking less haggardSmile Hopefully I can pour her into bed earlyish tonight, Friday and Saturday!

Herbs, have you anything non-Saisbos in your wardrobe that will cut the mustard or is it time for a shopping trip?!

herbaceous · 12/07/2012 18:37

I'm sure I must have, somewhere... But whatever it is will be even less fashionable than my supermarket fare. Perhaps I will look ironic.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/07/2012 18:58

Ironic, Herbs, not Iconic? Grin

I am wearing (unusually for me) a Boden dress. Shock I will get changed before I cook dinner though, otherwise it will be spattered with curry. I fell up the stairs at work today and have grazed knees like a six year old.

I feel your pain at trendy friends, Herbs. I have a friend who works in Fashion. Last time I saw her, I said "Oh I love your dress!" and she said "Karl designed it for me." I instantly felt frumptastic. I'd ask her to take me shopping but I think we have somewhat different budgets.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 12/07/2012 19:44

"Karl designed it for me" made me snort Grin

Dh is quite jolly after his camera-up-the-bum etc etc procedure and hanging out with other old dudes getting brachytherapy. I got to spend several hours browsing the shops. Shame there were only shite shops, but I enjoyed myself anyway - which is not the day I was expecting. Which is GOOD :)

motherinferior · 12/07/2012 20:42

Glad the camera went well, Strops. I have had a blazing row with Mr Inferior, and he wants to apologise and I don't Angry.

I am tired. Really worn down and worn out. Down and out. It has emerged that my work does want me to stay on, five days a week, and I frankly want to argue very strongly for four and I don't know if this will wash. Even though I could easily do it in three four.
